The Ridge
On Friday, May 9th the day began with clear blue skies. It was chilly enough for some light ground frost, but I didn’t see it. Bill told me. I got up at 7 to say goodbye and then sat with Gibbs with my cup of tea. The old sciatica was stupid again and it seemed nothing helped for any length of time.
Good morning!
This is part of how I spent my first 5 hours
That took away my idea of going out to do some outside work. The wind was quite cold anyway so I wasn’t too terribly upset. I did need to dust and vacuum so did that before I changed my mind. Then, I got out my paper quilling and just ‘doodled’ basically, if you can call it that. At noon, I made a bacon and egg quesadilla and that was enjoyable and filling. Also, guilt free. 😊
Sitting on the south side of
the Suite had us protected from the winds
from the north
Gibbs was not too upset about staying inside either, he was up and down on the back my recliner to the seat many times but slept, as puppies do. When I cleaned up from lunch, I just left the table covered with my stuff and invited Gibbs outside. He was eager but oh that wind was cold!
Of course, that meant no
shade for the little guy but under
my chair
I wasn’t going to do anything physical today, want to give the old body another days rest. I pulled a George and Suzie and moved my chair and Gibbs’ bed around to the south side of the Suite where there is plenty of sun and no wind. George and Suzie should have trade-marked this move, they did it for years! ♥
Look who is leading the way today.
I finished my book, oh what a great little read that was! Fannie Flagg’s ‘The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion’. Not at all what I expected and truly enjoyable. 😊 When I turned the last page, I went around to where my second window was waiting to be finished. I decided what to do with the last pane so did that. I’m happy and now I need to figure out where to put it so no stones hit it. I have a spot for at least one to hang, I think.
I put Gibbs inside and took a bag over to the empty property to collect rhubarb. My oh my, what a waste that would be, there is so much! I should have come last week, some are almost too thick. I stuffed the bag full and crawled back through the fence to break the tops off. I’m happy! I might go back once more, in a few days to collect some of the smaller stalks. ♥

the entrance.
Bill was home by 3:30, nice for a Friday, and had a short snooze before going down to replace the flags at the gate. Remember one pole broke? All better now, we are in business again – so to speak. 😊 I tidied up inside while he did that and we got cleaned up to go to the Curling Club for the Catch the Ace draw. Seems like we were just there, where did this week go?
The rhubarb patch next door.
Went to waste last summer.
Cutting across the farmers field
behind us.
A nice haul for the first time
Each week we go, I get more and more comfortable. We are beginning to remember other member’s names and getting familiar with each of them. Our tickets weren’t drawn but the lucky winner won $612! The Ace of Spades is still hidden and our numbers are still available to play next week for a chance at the $11,900.
We came home and after a rum and Coke we weren’t
hungry for much again. Bill had toast and peanut butter and I had a banana and
cream. Just enough. We only reached a high of 15C/59F but the sun was gorgeous.
If it wasn’t for the cool winds around 15 mph, it would have been that much
nicer. Soon, Patsy, soon.
We were home by 7 and enjoyed the evening together and caught up on episodes of The Floor. Last night we saw 9-1-1 (I’m so sad about it) and the finale of Elspeth’s season, which was good. I STILL have to get access to Matlock’s finale!! This has been a good day.
Thank you for your visit!
If nobody else takes any of the Rhubarb, feel free to transplant the rest next year.
ReplyDeleteI will have to see if the house gets sold. :)
DeleteI would be collecting every bit of that rhubarb! The more you cut, the more it will grow. Love the sleepy kid!
ReplyDeleteI will be over to pull more today!
DeleteRhubarb freezes well...Rhubarb crisp in January..yummy!
ReplyDeleteYes! Sounds wonderful, right?
DeleteYum, rhubarb! I'll have to convince my daughter to let me remove 1/2 of the strawberry patch for a rhubarb. Strawberries and rhubarb are so good together!
ReplyDeleteIt reached a high of 27C today...but that darned long range says we could get down to 0C next weekend. For heaven's sake, when will this rollercoaster ride end?
Yum, rhubarb and strawberries. Not sure the strawberries will grow here.
DeleteCrazy weather for sure!!
It is so warm here today, but like Maebeme we are supposed to be getting colder weather next week. Sure hope not as I really would love to get a few things planted. This is not supposed to happen in May!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We are also dropping next week but I didn't think that low! Good grief!
