Like another Sunday πŸ’•

The Ridge

On Monday, June 9th Bill was up with Gibbs at 6 and stayed downstairs as per usual. However, today he didn't have to go to work so after breakfast, let himself drop back off to sleep in his recliner. πŸ˜€ I know it was very late when he came up from the Hangar.

Good morning!
Last night, Gibbs did his best to get comfy.
Look at those front feet in the top picture.
Bottom picture, he had to rearrange Bill's chair quilt.
So funny to watch.

I, on the other hand, did have to go clean the Mat so got up after 6:30 and got ready to go. With my tea made, I started down the lane around 7 only to come to a stop. Madame Turtle, the snapper, was right in the middle digging her nest.

I was slightly delayed by a Mama snapper
who left a large hole.
Last night, I covered the nest of Mrs. Yertle
and today it was untouched. Yay!

I didn't want to disturb her but had no idea how long she'd be there. By the time I messaged Bill about why I stopped, she had deserted the nest and did somersaults down to the pond. She left a huge hole too meaning she was almost done. Darn!

Gibbs and I walked around and admired
my first tall irises.

I had two customers, a regular and then Trudy. We have quite the chit chats while there together. I work and she does her laundry. 😊 She is one of the ladies who said she'd be interested in the winter cleaning job, if Sandy still owns the Mat. She'd be very good at it too. She also always tells me how clean I leave it. That is appreciated, let me tell you!

Gibbs helped me finish the puzzle and
then slept beside me.

On my way home, M called to make arrangements for a run into town tomorrow morning and when I pulled in the lane, Bill was cutting the back field. The rain is expected at some point so he was taking advantage while he could. I didn't waste any time and got my mower out as well.

It seemed more powerful with the new batteries and I was able to run out of lawn to cut and they were still running. πŸ˜ƒ That's perfect! When I finished, I worked on the puzzle and when it was done (so much fun!), I came in to start lunch.

Lunch was good.
this is the Carbonaut bread
but even though it is very fresh,
I prefer the seeded.

Bill had moved from mowing to trimming but stopped for our toasted westerns. They were delicious! It has been a while since we've had them. He went back at it and didn't finish until 3 or so. Everything looks awesome now again and it sounds like we'll get rain overnight for it to grow again.

The lawns look good when cut and trimmed.

I got out my quilling when I came inside and started a new project. It is challenging but I'm determined to do this one. πŸ‘The afternoon went and after a snooze, Bill spent his time in the Hangar. You could say we were both happy doing what we love.

When I was closing the shed,
another one was laying. I kept an eye on her
and will cover the nest if it isn't raining.

For supper, he grilled sausages and we each had them on a bun. I've been good all week with keeping an eye on the carbs so do not feel one bit guilty. Ha ha. Today, we reached 23C/74F without a lot of sun. When it was out, it was quite lovely.

See the clouds?
We had rain around 7, right on cue.
Some grumbling in the sky and it moved on
until later in the evening,

Nights are warm so our blue flame heater is tucked away, hopefully for the next 4 months at least. Last night, after supper and dishes, I watched a movie I've seen and loved. Upside, just a joy to watch and had me laughing at many points in the movie. πŸ’•

They were very good.

It has been a great day. I hope you are able to say the same. Today, we wish Bill's daughter, Charlotte, a Happy Birthday! We saw her on Saturday and passed on her card, saving a stamp this time.

Happy Birthday!
Good night!

Thank you for the visit.

  3. It's funny how those "kids" push the blankets out of the way. You know, the ones we put down just for them!! LOL. Love seeing the turtles ... so sad many of the eggs don't make it, but then I suppose you would be overrun with them. Happy Birthday Charlotte!!

  4. Happy Birthday to Charlotte!
I'm glad you are able to assist the turtles, hopefully that skunk or whatever is raiding the nestss will leave the ones you cover alone.
The lawns look great, very green. I know it takes a good amount of work to keep them looking so good.

It breaks my heart to see the nests disturbed so I hope I can save some at least!
