Seventh Day but No Rest Yet

Anderson, IN

On Wednesday, Apr. 8th I was awake at 6 with Gibbs. Told him to go back to sleep because Daddy was still sound asleep. He did, until 6:30 when Bill moved. 🤗

Good morning!
Leaving Lambert's Cafe
and J.R.'s park

I went to bed last night a few minutes past 9 to catch up on my sleep and so I wouldn't sleep in. I guess it worked as I woke feeling refreshed. We were pulling out of the park at 8:20 onto US62. It was 54F/11C under a clear blue sky.

Crossing the Mississippi River
and into the state of Illinois

Bill stopped for fuel but the Mudflap app wasn't coming up so we paid full price of $5.29/gal at a Break Time in town. A short turn onto MO B and then picked up I-57N/US60E.

Nothing too special to take pictures
of today, but I do like the greenery
along the route.

Pretty good driving on I-57N and at 9am we crossed the state line into Illinois. Within 30 minutes we stopped at the Trail of Tears rest area for nature calls. Darn tea and coffee! 🤣

Some of these rest area buildings
are amazing! All for travellers.

The Cross
A 190-ft-high
cross near Effingham.

It's all about signs and staying in the right
lane. I like the paint marking ON the highway too.
Welcome to Indiana and another artifact.
The last picture is called Life Involving.

We pulled into a Love's at 11:30 for lunch in Greenup. Traveling on I-70E was pretty good and little traffic. I should bite my tongue because it soon changed.

Blossoms! It must be spring.

It was smooth sailing as we continued until we crossed the Indiana state line at 1pm. What a change. Rough roads for much of the way to Indianapolis. Lol, disgusting. As if that wasn't bad enough (and they weren't TERRIBLE), we had a real mess around the next city.

A couple of times, Gibbs
sat facing the Suite.
Just to be sure.
He was a good boy while we were
stuck in traffic.

Our gps' have us bad directions as did signage along the route as we neared Indianapolis. Meaning to catch I-465N bypass, we ended up in a 1 hour, 50 minute traffic jam. From 7 lanes on 465, to 1 lane in 5 miles!!

Top left: beginning of jam up, 7 lanes.
Top right: between our mirror and the arrow,
was about 5 miles - took us almost 2 hours!
Bottom left: an Ontario transport with a cool msg.
Middle: supposed to be a 'bypass' route 😂😂😂
Bottom right: okay, let's have construction too.
Guess we better speed up from 5 - 7 mph!!

We were not thrilled but still had no time pressure and motors through like mice on a treadmill. Spirits were close to rejoicing as we sighed relief at the end of it all at 5:50 pm.

Tonight's destination
Anderson, IN

Catching Exit 37, to I-69N we drove our last distance to tonight's destination. This is one we stayed at on our trip south this past fall and it feels very welcoming - even though there are no hosts to greet us! We parked in 'the' prime spot, as Ken and Kim knows well and recommended to us.

The views out our windows
during our late dinner.

My leftover meal with
a teeny sliver of pecan fudge each
for dessert. Oh yum!

For supper, I had leftovers from my past 2 meals out. I'd already eaten the breakfast quesadilla over the last couple of days, so tonight I had Lucky Star shrimp and Lambert's Cafe salmon cake and coleslaw. I had a bit of the mac & cheese that I cooked for Bill. He's easy to please, at mealtime. 💖

Wait a minute! Are we home
on the Ridge already?
These floaters look familiar!

A sunset view out our back window.

Now that we are the same time as home, we can watch our regular show of Survivor at 8 pm. So, we washed dishes by hand and worked on blogs while watching it.

I wanted to show you our purchases
from Windrush Alpacas HH (wonderful socks!)
and
Paw Paw's Pecans HH.

This was a very long day, 10 hours after heading out, we stopped for the night. No visit inside the casino tonight, just staying in together.

Good night
from
Harrah's Hoosier Casino

Thank you for stopping by. Our weather has been lovely again, 69F/19C for most of the day. You can check out Bill's blog here for his version and a map of our journey.
