Beauty of a Day, , Laundry, Puzzle, Moon Mountain Mail

Park Place RV Park

On Friday, Nov. 10th I slept in! Holy cow! It was 6 when I first looked at the time and everyone was still sound asleep. Gibbs didn’t move until a little while later and then Bill moved at 6:45. They slept in too. I didn’t hear Gibbs return to bed and it was 7:30 when next I opened my eyes! I had first thought (last night) to get up at 6:30 and get over by 7 to the laundry room.

Good morning!

So much for that! However, after sorting 2 loads, I walked over at 8 and was the only one there. Woohoo! It’s just nice when you plan on doing the laundry that you are able to do it rather than wait. 😊 I walked back to make my tea while they washed and once they were switched to the dryer, I hung around at the puzzle for most of the time.

All done! This one was 750 pcs. with
2 pieces missing

The girls had been working on it since I was last over there yesterday and did a fair bit. My turn! By the time our clothes were dried, 45 minutes later, it was done too.  It was a good one. I wonder which one they’ll pick today. 😊 I had plans to hang around at the Suite and get some sunning in – for the first time down here. Bill spent his morning between the flying field and Jim’s and was home around noon.

Gibbs and I walked across the road today.
I changed our route when I heard the Gamble Quail running. ♥

My lunch - yummy!

I needed to charge my phone so forgot to play my morning word games. Woops! Instead, I took my book out to read while catching some rays. It wasn’t too hot, too cold or too windy. Perfect and no bugs!

We had lunch, today it was a veg and bacon quesadilla for me. In case you’re wondering, Bill doesn’t like these things so he makes himself his peanut butter and cheese sandwich. Gibbs watches as he usually gets a few small nibs of cheese in his food dish.

I went through the rocks that Deb and Tom brought me yesterday, looking for suitable ones for painting. Having never painted rocks, Deb wouldn’t know how particular I was but I sure appreciated her ‘hunt’ on my behalf. There are no perfect ones in the desert so I picked about 6 of the best ones she brought and added them to the 4 I found this morning on our walk. Oh yes, Gibbs and I did get out for a later walk when the clothes were done. 😊

These are the rocks I kept.
The 2 at the top are questionable, they might
be too porous, hence using up too much paint.

I base coated a couple, not yet sure what I’ll turn them into, and then Bill and I met Lorne at the entrance for the drive to Moon Mountain Mail. This is where all of our mail is now being sent, with the exceptions of pre-scheduled UPS or FEDEX parcels. We’ve received some solar things for Lorne and Sue as well as a number of items for our own converter (etc.) replacement.

solar, boxes, cables, batteries and
Planes!

Today, we picked up 9 more pieces in relation to all that plus some for Bill’s hobby. I ordered a bread maker on Tuesday with the shipment to arrive today by 8 pm. Of course, my item didn’t come in. I know the solar is for me too but doggoneit! I was hoping to have it for the weekend. Anyway, sulk over, we returned home with promises to drop out and see our friends in a few days.

At Jim's. He's such a sweet man.
He came out and gave me a hug and offered me a drink
of something cold. 😊
Now, the top picture sure made me wish we could move these
to the Ridge! Imagine them at our front gate!

On the way home, Bill stopped at Jim’s. He is the one with the big shop where pilots can work on planes etc. He also had a plane/kit that Bill was interested in so yes, in 3 pieces, it found its way home to our site. 😊 he’s quite pleased about that. However, the solar converter exchange thingy – is a puzzle of its own. I’ll stay out of it as it is WAY out of my league. He’ll figure it out, I’m sure.

Sunset at 5:35

For supper, it’s grilled bacon cheeseburgers so Bill started before the sun went down so he wasn’t bbq’ing in the dark. They were as good as ever and the rest of the evening was spent on our usual things. Blog, books and tv. Life is simple here and it is all what we make of it. We are enjoying the part we play in it and accepting of all that it brings us.

The day ended like this.
Such a pretty sky.
Good night!

Thank you for coming along on our journey. We’re happy to have you!

Laundry Day, Mail Delivery 😊

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Jan. 4th we were up before 8. Gibbs has been so good after his first outing with Bill (around 6:30 usually) at going back to sleep when told until 7:30. He doesn’t disturb us until we make the first move and then he waits to see if we’re waking up or still in sleep mode. Bless his little snuggly heart.

There's that cloudy start to the day

These pigeons make me laugh

He and I went for a walk outside the park before Bill left for the field. It was a pleasant 55F/13C but cloudy again to start the day. Funny how it starts that way, with no wind and then by 10, it changes. It was still a nice morning. I dropped Gibbs at home and went down Sunset Drive to N. Plymouth and up to Main where I nipped into Family Dollar.

French toast and maple syrup

I wanted to see if they had insoles. My Sketchers shoes, that are old and worn a lot, are getting worse for wear. The memory foam insole no longer cushioned my feet and I was noticing it when I walked. Thankfully, the dollar store did have 1 pair of ladies’ insoles left and so I’ve got them in my shoes. Until I find another pair of suitable walking shoes, this feels better and they will do. 😉

The sun didn't have much luck today
but we did have a fair bit of clear sky
early afternoon

Back home, I sorted 2 loads of laundry and took my book, phone and tea over to the clubhouse. While the clothes washed (& later dried) I sat in the library with my online Word games and then my book. Coffee hour was going on in the clubhouse but I preferred the quiet this morning. I’m not into the group chat thing. I guess I’m a bit of a social misfit sometimes. Bill came and helped me finish folding and we returned for lunch.

Bill pointed out that my Christmas present
finally had a repeat customer 💗

French toast with the last of the homemade bread was a great lunch especially with butter and hometown (Durham) maple syrup. After eating, I went to start a new puzzle and was surprised to see that Adele and Robert had one out on the table. It took every ounce of my being to go with the flow when all of the pieces were just piled in the middle and they were slowly picking out the border. 😊

Just before supper, the sunset
had me running outside for pictures

They were happy to see me and within minutes, we had the complete outer edge done before I decided to check our mail. Boy, what a surprise when she handed me 5 Christmas cards that were delivered today. They all had the address on that I had incorrectly given them on the cards we sent out so we were both very surprised that they arrived at all. They all had Canadian stamps on them so maybe the one Donna sent will soon be here. Too funny!

We also received one last parcel for John and Gayle so Bill plans to go out and help him tomorrow at their campsite. They are anxious to get a brake line on their Montana fixed so they can get down to Mulege in Mexico. That is where they’ll spend the rest of the winter. It’s always something but at least this is something John can fix himself without too big of an expense.

Just gorgeous!

Gibbs and I got out for an afternoon walk when I returned from the puzzle. We had shrimp and fries for supper with the last of the pie for dessert. Of course, I added a scoop of ice cream with mine. We cleaned up dishes and watched the New Amsterdam episode that Bill recorded last night. It was very, very, intriguing and delayed my blog post. 😊 This has been a good day. It is only going down to 52F/11C so we won’t need heat again tonight.

Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

Mixed Bag of Weather, Soup Fairies, Visitors from a Distance

The Ridge - Home
On Sunday, Mar. 29th we were both up around 7. The winds had been howling most of the night, pretty strong. Bill was still up at 11:30 when they blew our satellite dish over. How dare they upset his evening programming! He stood it up again and got better reception after doing so. Maybe it straightened something that had been bent all winter!

About half way through the day,
while sitting inside, I saw blue sky appear
out the window behind me
I didn’t know any of this was going on but did notice lights on downstairs after midnight. It was a warm night, not getting colder than 5C/40F so that was a bonus. We are expecting (and getting) a warm day today, with highs in the mid-teens Celsius. That means almost 60F and that is wonderful here in Ontario for March.

We had our coffee and tea together and after reading some blogs, I sat and worked on my sweater. The rain and winds kept the morning interesting as far as weather is concerned, even a thunder dunder breaking the otherwise silence up here. My crocheting is coming along, front and back are now stitched together and I’m working on sleeves. I’ve not done sleeves for a very long time and never with crochet. It’s quite easy, actually. Even for me!

This bulkiness is my sweater, coming together
We had some visitors drop in, we want to call them Soup Fairies because they left us a nice container of cabbage soup that they both made. How nice of them to share. Virtual hugs were shared from a distance and we all look forward to the time we can make them real ones. The prayer on everyone’s lips is ‘let this not last too long’.

After bacon and eggs for lunch and dishes were done, just as I noticed the sun popping out, another vehicle came up the drive. It was a surprise and nice to see my sister, Donna, and Gerry drive up. Again, from a 10’ ladder length apart, we shared that same kind of hug. They brought the last two pieces of our mail that got caught in the transfer. We chatted about a few things and before they left it was agreed that a new water filter be ordered for their pump.

Because I only took one walk with my sweetie
and didn't have my camera, today's pictures mostly
feature food

As soon as they get that, we will be able to get water from their well again for our fresh water supply. This one is 2 years old and the price is right for it lasting that long. After they left, we debated staying out and about for a bit but after walking down the lane and back, the cool air returned and more rain spatters. We weren’t done with it yet so returned inside. At 3, I made a cup of tea and sat with my project.

Bill was thirsty so I poured him a Zero Coke and we shared a few crackers with cheese.

Thanks buddies
I wish I could hug you for providing us with a nourishing supper tonight
Good night y'all!
Around 5:30, I mixed up a batch of biscuits for supper as the convection oven preheated. On the stove, I warmed up the soup that our friends left for us. We were eating by 6:30 and it was a delicious meal! I had to text Pat to let her know how much we enjoyed it. After dishes, I sat to work on my blog. We were watching a movie before, during and after supper it finished. There were a few programs that we like to watch on Sunday so our evening was planned.

Have a great evening! Thank you for checking in on us.

Good Morning Mr. Fog. Bus Delays? Turbines and Mail

The fog was as thick as pea soup when we woke up on Tuesday, Oct. 10th. We got up after 7 and it was so thick that it felt like rain when I stepped out to snap a picture. You can’t see through it, so it must be black, Daddy. The temperature was hovering around 12C outside and 15C inside so we took the damp feeling out with our Blue Flame heater for an hour.

There is a house across the pond......good luck seeing either one!

With the fog out there this morning, I’m sure the school buses will be delayed. We can barely see the house next door at 9 o’clock. After reading blogs and having our first cuppa java, Bill called our London mechanic, Hi-Tech Auto Care, for an oil change on our car. We’ve planned another jaunt to London to tie up a few things before heading out. Oil change, Costco, Value Village and a stop at our former Union office.
This is only part of the pile we removed from the storage under the bed

The before picture, packed full
Watching the sky clear out, we never did see the bus go by. Don’t tell me they cancelled them for the day? Nah, we must have just missed them. Today’s first job was sorting out the under-bed stuff. We knew we had some winter accessories under there and I have a few purses/hand bags that don’t need to ride with us all winter. I’m not ready to part with them …. Yet.

We pulled a lot of things out of there, Christmas wrapping paper, bags and trimmings for gifts, scarves, mitts and hats. We don’t use the wrapping stuff now since we, thankfully, don’t buy for our children or grandchildren anymore. Heck, we don’t even buy for each other and that was actually refreshing last Christmas. Our lifestyle is our gift to each other and if we choose to buy a surprise for each other, we can do it anytime.

After, lots of empty space
There was quite a pile, essentially a few pounds of weight that we removed from the Suite and put into the bunky. We aren’t ready to think of the stuff we’d need to get rid of if we didn’t have the storage up here on the Ridge. That day will come, probably sooner than we want, so in our heads we are tucking that list away. I made up an omelette for breakfast and we cleaned up the dishes from that.

Bill suggested we get cleaned up a bit and go into Priceville to set up the mail forwarding. We have it forwarded to my sisters in Hanover. Cha-ching, that is another big expense but still cheaper than holding it for us and much more practical. At least with it being family, if there is something questionable in the mail she can advise us and open it for us if we need her to. It is a definite bonus to have this service, therefore justifying the cost.

On our way back from town, we noticed more service workers for the turbines pulling into site locations. We stopped at the lane back to ‘our’ closest wind machine. Bill wanted to know if they knew that 2 beacon lights have not been working all summer and was just about to call when the truck pulled into the open gate. The driver said they were not aware but would certainly check it out on his evening rounds. Nice fellow.
“Awesome!” he said a few times about us informing him so you can guess his age.

Chatting with the young Mr. Turbine
Back home, I did a thorough sweeping through the Suite, even the carpets. Yes, the broom I have works wonders on those too, at least until we get the vacuum out next. The floors were really dirty! Bill went out to his planes trailer and started removing batteries and giving them a good charge. We take them with us so he can keep them charged over the winter. No more flying this year, sadly. Hopefully next summer will be a more typical Ontario summer and he’ll get more flying in.

While working in the closet, I brought down a couple of pairs of pants that need minor stitching so will get those out of the way too. I can do them without getting out my machine. See? I could probably do a quilt, Shirley! Ha ha. Not sure what kind of day we are getting here. It feels like it could get warmer but it is now sitting at 16C under the wispy clouds and feels cool. I know we are darn lucky for what we’ve had in October so far so I won’t complain.
Clemson and I get the mail
Most of my outside work is done, Bill and I went through the remaining list of things and it is quite minimal and we can do it after this weekend. Did I tell you what this weekend entails? It is a bit of a change for us, me especially. I haven’t been away from the Suite much all summer. I can think of 4 nights off the top of my head, so it is a big change for me, really.

We are both working the Toronto RV Show! I used to do these with Bill helping out CanAm for a couple of years before we bought the Mobile Suite. Since our lifestyle changed and we moved, we are only home to work one in October. Last year, we didn't have anyone to leave Clemson with so I stayed here with him while Bill went for the whole weekend. We ate our dinners and slept in Hanover and came here during the day.
Wispy clouds
This year, Pat and Rob have offered to puppy sit for us both so I can go as well. I’m not worried about Clem, I just have a concern that he might upset their regular routines too much. He will definitely show them who is boss! Anyway, it will be a nice break and I will enjoy seeing and working with the CanAm staff again. The hotel stay will be a treat (but I have to pack a bag!) and being treated to dinner out is always a bonus.

My phone caught this fellow walking

Bill caught him in a sitting position with his zoom

We puttered around the rest of the day, I got my pants finished and did another sweep killing flies in here. Bill is keeping an eye on the weather over the next two weeks, especially in the areas we were thinking of travelling when we leave here. It can all change but if they are getting cold and snow now, chances are we will turn left and go further south. No one knows but Mother Nature and God so we trust that it will all work out.
Two workers on this one
I went outside after a while and moved a chair around to the southern side of the Suite. The sun was warm as it shone through the wispy clouds but when the clouds moved out of the way, it was downright hot. Just the way I like it! Sitting around here was also putting me in plain view of our noisy turbine and I knew they would be working on it again today.

So, I read more of my book, Split Second, sitting in the sun while Bill finished up with his planes. Soon he joined me and it wasn’t long before I noticed that someone was walking across the top of the hub. Bill hurried into the Suite to get his camera with the zoom lens and snapped some pretty good shots. One of the turbines further away was also stopped and Bill noticed two workers on the outside. Not on your life!
With my phone camera, this is what I could see

When the clouds moved back over the sun, the air felt cool so we came inside. Bill turned the tv on and I moved upstairs with my book. Supper was simple so there wasn’t much prep necessary. We were having leftover chili from the other night. I had a can of Compliments crescent rolls so made those up and baked them in the oven. It was yummy as chili usually is on the second and third days. There is just enough left for one more meal for a rainy night.

After dishes, I snapped a picture of what was anything but an exciting sunset but it is what it is. Tonight, being Tuesday night, is jam-packed with our favourite shows so we settled in for the evening. It all started at 8 pm and ended at 10 for me with 2 shows recorded for another evening. We still have Monday night’s shows on PVR.

This has been a pleasant quiet day and I managed to finish another book. Yay!  It would be great if yours was just as quiet.

Good night all
Thanks for the pop in today. I’d love to hear what you have to say.

Overcast Day, Mom, Mail Arrives! Baked Things

Woke up to this sky, no sunrise and no chance of sun today even though the forecast model showed some this morning. It is only 7C and I’m sure we’ll see some rain spatters as well. That’s okay, after our showers, I have plans to visit Mom and maybe poke around Durham stores to get reacquainted.
This morning sky didn't show too much promise for a sunrise
After reading posts and having my tea and breakfast I showered and got ready for my visit. Captured this blue jay around the property. First time this year we’ve seen them here. Last year they hogged the bird feeder, of course, that was later in the year.

I drove into Durham in the spattering rain and wind at 10:45 and parked in front of Rockwood. I found Mom sleeping in her room, dressed but such a peaceful sight. It was such a gift to wake her up and get such a welcoming smile. Of course, she didn’t think she’d seen me for years, but that was okay. I know better, wink, wink.
Good day to go visiting

Rockwood Centre
I can’t help but wonder what the visits will be like and want to be comfortable suggesting a walk for exercise or just to go down to the puzzle room. Today I need not worry. I sat on her bed with her and we chatted non-stop for an hour. The time seemed to fly by and I soon had to take her down to her dining room for lunch.

Saying goodbye was 100% better today than last time because someone was at her table already. She made a joke about not inviting me for lunch because there wasn’t a chair for me but kissed me goodbye and watched and waved as I went out the door. That is exactly I want to leave her, happy, comfortable and content.
Mom was so happy to see me and very willing to pose for me
After leaving Rockwood I picked up the mail from our short-lived post office box and then drove to Main St. (hwy. 6) and parked. I wanted to scoot around the town a bit and see what I might have missed last fall. I went into a book store and picked up 5 for $3, authors that we will read, James Patterson and Tami Hoag to name a couple.

The view from Main Street (Garafraxa)
From there I wandered down as far as the community pool which took me across the bridge over part of the Saugeen River. The other day I viewed a different part of this river when I walked alongside the McGowan Falls.

Love the talent displayed on the brick buildings in town
Then I poked my nose into one other store, a second-hand store of course that I’ve been in before. I like the owner of this place and found a pretty little pair of shoes to replace a couple I’m purging on Sunday. From there, I’m heading home to my sweeties. I’m sure they’re missing me like crazy. Oh, I’m pretty good at sarcasm too!

Bill had finished his James Patterson book “Along Came a Spider” so I left him long enough to get that out of the way. I was sitting at my laptop when I looked out the window towards the road and noticed the mail lady was stopping at our mailbox. Yay! Our first delivery! “We’ve Got Mail!”

Clemson and I took our walk down the laneway to get the mail. That was fast, we just made that change a few days ago. Bill noticed that my income tax refund was in the bank already too, that only took 8 days. Too bad it wasn’t enough to cover what he owed on his.

My walking partner
Bill found himself outside working in his cargo trailer again. Since the air was still cool at only 10C he at least was in out of the wind. I’m not sure what he got up to but I left him alone and I set about baking something. I plugged our Suite in to the power and made pulled out a few recipes to choose from.

I chose a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake as well as a fudge, so you can probably tell from this that I have been craving chocolate the last couple of days. Bill popped in a couple of times to see what the creations were going to be and it will be determined after dinner if they were a success.

I made up 4 burgers for dinner and lit the Weber Q. Bill took over cooking the meat and the bacon while I cut an onion and tomato and set things up inside. I haven’t had a hamburger in a long time but still could only eat one. That’s okay, leftovers.

When dishes were done I saw the first sighting of the sunshine since that morning peak at 7 am. We heard on the news that London was getting sun for most of the day and we’re sorry to have missed out on that. Looks like we’ll have our own for tomorrow and that is good, I am anxious to get outside again.

We watched a bit of Canadian Pickers and then a rerun of one of our favourite NCIS shows. We recorded The Voice and watched it at 9 and then put on 48 Hours: NCIS. I hope you have all had a good day and got some of that sunshine wherever you are.
My garden with frogs in place

My tired pooch - sorry for the blur, I was trying to take it quickly so as not to disturb them
Goodnight from The Ridge and from the sun that made this only appearance
Thank you for reading. I love to get your comments if you feel like leaving one.
