Puzzling, Happy Hour in the Desert, Bonfire, Birthday

Park Place RV Park

On Friday, Feb. 27th it was yet another sleep in morning for me. After Bill left for the field, I had my tea and hopped in the shower. Gibbs was ready for a walk so off we went. It was 9:30 and already starting to heat up. My hair was dry in minutes!

Good morning!
This is last night's picture
as I walked to the clubhouse at 6.

I should have moved just a titch
to get the sun perfectly situated on
the magic wand.
This was this morning.

I walked over to work on the puzzle for a couple of hours and was pleased to see that Renee had some of the middle section done. She is a night owl and I'm a morning person so between us we'll get this done. I'm thinking tomorrow the last piece will drop into place.

Top picture shows what
Renee did last night.
Bottom pictures shows my
contribution today.
We both did good!

Bill and I had lunch together, egg salad sandwiches, and it was very good. I worked on a quilling project, using one of the pieces I bought at the Salvation Army store. It's for St. Patrick's Day so I have a few days to work on it. I tested the new crimping tool and love the effects!

I love what my crimper does with
one of my paper strips. So easy!

We arrived at the Roadrunner
group by 3.

The clouds opening up for the moon.

At 2:30, we left Gibbs at home in the cool Suite and drove out for Happy Hour with the Roadrunner Gang. There's a name for ya! We had a great time, sitting in the shade of Ken and Kim's Journey and it was 5:30 when we packed up our chairs and cooler and left.

My little remote brought smiles
to everyone.
What a great picture of everyone.

Leaving the blm for home.

A burger wrapped tortilla.

Bill grilled burgers and although it wasn't easy to give up the bun, I had mine in a tortilla. They were both messy but tasty. With no dishes to do by hand, I left my boys and walked over to join the group at the bonfire.

Walking over to the bonfire
at 6, the sun disappeared.

Fred had a great fire going. We didn't need it for the heat but it was a beautiful evening all the same. It was fun to see Gibbs and Bill walking over to us all and of course, our little ham had to greet each and every one in attendance. He knew where his Mom was though. ❤️

Another group meets at the
fire pit.

I left around 8 after chatting with William (site 22) about Los Algodones. He's full of queries since it is his first time here and I'm purposely writing his name so I'll remember him in the fall. Bill can help me provide him and his wife, Laurie, with hopefully some helpful tips.

Stephanie grilled a Bratwurst.
A couple of others made Smores.
I was full so needed nothing.

I finished my blog while Bill watched a movie and Gibbs stretched out on the floor. It has been a hot day and a great one. I want to wish my 3rd oldest biological grandson a very happy 16th birthday. Nathan, I hope this was a wonderful day for you!

No longer this wide-eyed little 1 year old
waiting for his cake.

Happy 16th Birthday!

We reached 92F/30C all under incredibly blue skies. I hope you enjoyed your day too.

Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

Poker Pool, Trying to Keep up the Walks

Park Place RV Park

On Monday, Feb. 23rd we both woke up at 6:20 to the sound of Gibbs about to be sick. We react quickly mainly to get him off the bed and onto the floor, just in case. Often, it doesn't happen on time but today it did.

Good morning!
Do you like the Angel?
My active imagination is running havoc
with the clouds these days.

It could be any number of things that upsets their tummy but Bill got dressed and took him for his walk and he was just fine. I went back to bed until 7:30 and enjoyed every last minute of that. Bill got ready to go flying and left before 8, I think, as usual.

I've reverted to putting Gibbs'
harness on when we walk and it makes
the world of difference.
He stays on the path and doesn't get
tangled in the leash.

I hopped in the shower before I had my tea, forgetting completely about yogourt. Gibbs and I went for his walk around the block and I could feel that it was already warming up. At 9:20, I took my stick over to poker pool.

Tom and Deb left this morning.
Deb went ahead with the Jeep.

We were all a bit slow arriving today but although we were missing Anne Marie and Linda, 5 of us enjoyed ourselves. One game was unreal. We were all down to one card and we were all holding the 8. When Angie pocketed the ball, we all went out at the same time. That has never happened! 😂

These are so good and mine was
still keto! We'll do it more often.

Bill was making lunch when I got home a few minutes past 12. An old favourite that he mentioned the other night. Cheese and bacon on buns. We used to do them in the oven but since we don't have an 'oven', persay, he figured out a way. They were delicious! I had mine on 2 pieces of keto bread. Yum!

A couple of hours on the puzzle made
a big difference.

Gibbs and I took a short walk.
He didn't like the heat and kept going
to the shade. He gets a hair cut next week!
Just in time.

I have a correction from last night's post. I said that we were likely going to have chips and cheddar cheese as a snack later in the evening. When 8:15 rolled around, we both averted our cravings and skipped the snack! I was so proud of us. Bill had a yogourt and I had one licorice stick. No promises tonight though. 🤭

I haven't walked this way yet
this winter.
It's a residential area along the desert,
best of both worlds.

If money was no object, I would buy
a house in the Arroyos community.
This one is gorgeous with her flowers
along the fence.

Alternatively, also facing the desert,
there is a Seniors complex, one floor
which is nice too.

I worked on the puzzle for a couple of hours and Bill and Gibbs puttered here at home. Our friends, Tom and Deb, pulled out today but we'll continue to see them over the next few weeks as they've only moved out to Roadrunner Blm.

Sometimes, life is just too hard
or we get old.
Losing these Saguaros always
saddens me. This one was probably
over 100 years old.

At 4, I took Gibbs for a short walk, his choice, and went for a longer one myself around the residential homes to the east. Now that I've started a bit of a routine, I don't want to lose track of it. We had grilled sausages for supper. Bill had his on a bun and we both had salads on the side. They were good!

Here, I'm on the home stretch.
The arrow points out the park.

It has been a lovely day. Warming, just like they promised. A high of 82F/25C today, just a tip of the iceberg for the next week plus. Works for me! We had a great day.

The salad is bland but it used up a
lot of my fresh veggies. The
sausage was grilled to perfection!
Tender, juicy and pink.
Good night!

Thank you for popping by.

Finishing a Project, Potato Bar Potluck

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Jan. 24th Gibbs let us sleep in. Bill nor I could believe our eyes when we looked at the clock after the little guy moved in for his snuggle. It was 6:50! We were all in bed last night around 10 and slept very well.

Good morning.
Last night, by 10 pm,
we were all in this position
but in bed.

Maybe Bill can credit his new pillow but for me, it was just a great sleep filled with dreams. When they got up, I rolled over and slept some more until 7:25. Gibbs was playful and had Bill's blanket and sheet pulled way down before I gave in and got up. 😂

After breakfast, they did the park tour. All is well on the home front.....er, and the park front. I misunderstood the writing on the wall (aka the dates in the laptop) and that meant we had NO departures today and NO arrivals. Works for us!

This is another lovely puzzle.
Bottom right is the cheat sheet,
Top right is this morning
Left is how I left it at 4.

It was quiet so I spent the morning on a new puzzle. These are all the same brand, which I can't think of now, and they are all 1,000 pc. with great pictures and a printed sheet to work off. Bill did some raking on the uncovered storage areas and did a bit of puttering back at the Suite as well.

Then I decorated the plain
old white bird to
brighten this picture up.
I ran out of blue paper so had
to do some remodelling.

After lunch, I finished the one project. It was a bit of a secret, which turned into a surprise for Sue. There is one other metal wall decoration in the clubhouse and I decided to dress up the plain white bird, turning it into an Eastern Bluebird.

I doubt it is anything to be
proud of, but my little bro
in Cold Lake, Alberta says
they made the list yesterday.
Brrr.

She didn't know that's what I was doing, as I hid it each time she came over to visit.🤭😉 When I had it complete, I hung it back on the wall by the puzzle table. She brought over potatoes for baking around 2:30 and when she didn't notice, I eventually pointed it out. She was quite pleased, I think.

13 big baking potatoes
Some of us could only eat half.
Great job, Sue!

At 4 (4:15 for some late-comers) 11 of us had a baked potato with all the fixin's (sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, onion and chili), some vegetables and apple pie for our supper. To blow my own horn, the pie was delicious and luckily enough for each one to have a small piece.

My plate.
Yup, that is only half a potato.

It was all very good, and the bonus is I didn't have to cook and there are 2 pieces of pie left for us! We brought one of the remaining 5 baked potatoes home for another night. We cleaned up and parted ways just after 5. After today, we have our 6 days off so that will be nice.

The sun is ready to set just before
I closed the blind.

This was a good day. The puzzle is coming along almost too quickly but I'm enjoying it with a bit of help from Leesa while she did her laundry. We only had a high temperature 67F/ 17C today but it was just fine with a fair bit of sunshine to start.

I like her thinking!
Good night!

Thank you for stopping in to see what we're up to!

Playing, Visiting, Puzzling

Park Place RV Park

On Monday, Feb. 19th 7 provinces in Canada celebrated a statutory holiday.  In our home province of Ontario, it is Family Day so I know our families who are not retired, are enjoying a day off. 😊 I hope they are enjoying it even though it is only 26F/-3C. Here, in Arizona and other states, they are celebrating President’s Day. Since I didn’t leave the park, I don’t know what vendors were closed.

Good morning!
Look at that sky!

Bill was up and on his way to the flying field by 8 and Gibbs and I headed out for our walk. It was another beautiful morning. Nancy and I met over at the clubhouse at 9ish for Ladies Poker Pool and there were 5 of us in attendance. We played until noon, we all agreed that it wasn’t the best we’ve played, and had a good time. Susan, Nancy,(1 point apart) Patsy, Barb and Patti: that was the final winning order.

Looks like a clean shot in the making.

Bill and I had lunch and while he and Gibbs snoozed, I walked over to work on the puzzle. Susan had finished the border during the pool game so I started in on the centre. This is a very pretty picture with lots of colours so perhaps it will be an easy one. 😊 Nancy joined me within 15 minutes and we worked away until just before 3 when we walked back home.

This is a nice puzzle.

The rest of the afternoon was spent sitting outside with my book, Gibbs, Bill and/or Nancy. Oh, once I moved to my lounger in the gazebo, I admit to closing my eyes for a few minutes too. For supper, we had the leftover macaroni casserole with the homemade rolls and a vegetable. Filling and delicious. Bill loaded the dishwasher and I started my blog for the day.

Cooper and Nancy visited.
The pups like each other.💕

What a nice meal and quick and easy too!

The new NCIS and NCIS:Hawaii start tonight so we watched them live. Hopefully, we’ll remember each week and watch them together. This has been a great day and we’re enjoying the Arizona warmth – reminding us of previous years and why we come.

Good night.

Thank you for coming by. Your comments are always welcome.

A Cloudy, Cooler Day, Puzzling, Christmas Parade

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Dec. 3rd the day started off at a moderate 50F/10C and by the time I headed out for my walks, it was under a sky filled with a blanket of clouds. The sun tried really, really hard to break its way through with no success. The day was cloudy from there on in. Gibbs walked well this morning and I was prepared for walking where the grapefruit tree was. I had a grocery bag in my pocket.

A few things in my path
this morning on both walks

The plane is at the town park

Before returning home, I was able to pick another couple of grapefruit and 4 oranges. I hadn’t noticed the reachable orange tree yesterday. 😉 My walk by myself took me a bit further this morning and on my way home, I met Black Beauty again as Bill made his way to the field. One day, I’ll walk there to see him and the ‘boys’. Back home, I had my tea and I turned the furnace off.

Quite a few pieces added today

My sister asked where Gibbs' stocking was
Here it is, near where he spends a lot of his days

We didn’t have heat on all night but Bill turned it on when he got up at 7. I’d mentioned having a shower so the furnace heats the Suite up quickly. Since the day didn’t warm up beyond 61F/16C, inside our home felt cooler than it was outside. There is no wind today which certainly helps but we’re ready for our sunshine to return.

An early supper of chicken thighs, potatoes and vegetables

The Quartzsite Christmas parade is tonight and we’d like to partake in the viewing of that. I went to the puzzle for a couple of hours before Bill got home and after we had some lunch, we drove in to Roadrunner Grocery Store for a few items. 😊 When we got back home, I went back over to the clubhouse around 2. I’m making good progress with the puzzle and Susan is on duty today again but has popped over a few times to help.

I made a cup of tea and began my post when I got home at 4. Bill and Gibbs finished watching a movie and since we have evening plans, I started supper around 5. Tonight, air fried chicken thighs, a potato and a vegetable. Bill loaded the dishwasher and we washed the pots that were used by hand.

The parade starts at 7 so we drove out towards the Desert Flyers field around 6:30 and parked not far from it along the side of the road. That’s the road the parade came down and it wasn’t much after 7 when it started. The surrounding streets were already pretty packed. We were both very impressed with the number of ‘vehicles’ that participated. It was a great effort and although we didn’t count them, it lasted 30 minutes.

Like most winter parades, it ends
with Santa Clause
pulled by a camel? 😂

We drove from there to the Community Centre around the block and the ladies had a variety of drinks for us and homemade cookies set out for everyone. How they would ever know how much to make, and how many would show up, always amazes me. Nothing else was going on, unless when Santa arrived the kids were involved in something, so we walked back to the truck and returned home before 8.

Like all good parade watchers,
we gathered up the candy tossed to us just like
our younger counterparts

We are here for 4 months and need to get out more often to enjoy some of the local events if possible. 😊 It was a good day and a wonderful night. I’m glad we went!

the town ladies had hot chocolate,
coffee and cider to offer everyone
as well as a selection of home baked cookies
Good night!

Thank you for popping by.
