Ending the Week Well

The Ridge

It was 5:20 when I first opened my eyes on Friday, July 17th. Bill was up, getting washed and Gibbs was on the bed, waiting. He does his exercises before he gets up too. 🐶 Then he goes out for his walkabout with Daddy and comes back to bed. 

Good morning!
Last night's sun was hazy
in its beauty.

Bill and Jazz left at 6:30 and Gibbs and I got up just before 7. I gathered up the bed sheets, bath towels and quilts off our chairs and took them in for washing. The Mat wasn't too bad, nor was it too busy. 

And not much different as it
rose this morning.

There was one loud chatty fellow but thankfully he was with his brother so I didn't have to be his listening post. 🤭 I brought my items home to hang, thinking of whether or not that was wise. Hmm, the smoke is not noticeable for me today so that's what I did.

they still dried very quickly.

Our grounding sheet should not be in direct sun or in the dryer, so it was perfect that we had overcast skies for the morning and much of the afternoon. That worked out! It was feeling cooler today, so we opened more windows, the humidity seems to be diminished.

At 10, the bnb guests had checked out and I was cleaning for Robin. I took some cheese and a yogourt along with my coffee and found the house to be in decent shape. 4 guests for 2 nights and it was left good enough to get a nice review. Robin always likes to do that.

complete the action.

I left there around 12:30 and took the back way home. Bill had messaged just as I was leaving Williamsford that he was home, having his lunch and going to cut grass. All our obligations with cutting other grasses are fulfilled so he was going to take care of our mess. (teehee) It was bugging him.

I sat with Gibbs while he went to do that and then sat at my table. First, I reposted a notice on FB that I was holding another craft sale on Sunday. The weather tomorrow is not looking good but Sunday looks perfect. Not too hot, not smoky and a great day for a sale!

this is my favourite today.

I brought the bedding in off the line and when Bill finished cutting, after his shower, we flipped the mattress. That's always a chore in our small space but so is making the bed sometimes!! We try and do it once a year, if we remember.

out and promptly stretches out in the grass.
No one came to rub his belly,
so he gets up.
Love to know what he thinks.

Our neighbours, Dot and Gord, arrived back at their home this afternoon so we took a run over just to welcome them but no one was home. We'll catch them at another time. It was 4:15 so we just relaxed, discussed supper and bided our time until we had to leave for C the A.

We both slipped our jeans on and hopped on Jazz. I broke the cardinal rule (my rule) and wore my jean jacket instead of my leather one. I didn't wear my motorcycle boots, instead the ones I used to dance in. It was warm and it was going to be warm at 7 when we came home. No excuses, that's what I did.

We didn't win, no one found the Ace of spades, but we enjoyed ourselves while there. When we left, I had 2 invitations to attend future 'events'. One is a bbq at President Lion Doug's home next Friday after our draw and the second....I'll let you know about that one later!

I mentioned to a couple of people that I'll be behind the bank on Sunday but everyone is so busy. 🤷‍♀️ We were home shortly after 7 and since I hadn't eaten a proper lunch, I was quite hungry. Hungry enough to have some of the leftover spaghetti & meatballs. Bill helped eat it, cleaned up dishes and went to the Hangar. It's been a while since he's had the time!

I enjoyed the day and made some $ at the same time. We reached a moderate 25.56C/78F with a nice breeze most of the day. I'm cleaning for Robin tomorrow since it is going to be a wash out - if the forecasters know anything. The town's street sale will likely be postponed to next week.

I don't usually eat the noodles
but was so hungry tonight - I did.

Finishing a Project, Potato Bar Potluck

On Saturday, Jan. 24th Gibbs let us sleep in. Bill nor I could believe our eyes when we looked at the clock after the little guy moved in for his snuggle. It was 6:50! We were all in bed last night around 10 and slept very well.

but in bed.

Maybe Bill can credit his new pillow but for me, it was just a great sleep filled with dreams. When they got up, I rolled over and slept some more until 7:25. Gibbs was playful and had Bill's blanket and sheet pulled way down before I gave in and got up. 😂

After breakfast, they did the park tour. All is well on the home front.....er, and the park front. I misunderstood the writing on the wall (aka the dates in the laptop) and that meant we had NO departures today and NO arrivals. Works for us!

It was quiet so I spent the morning on a new puzzle. These are all the same brand, which I can't think of now, and they are all 1,000 pc. with great pictures and a printed sheet to work off. Bill did some raking on the uncovered storage areas and did a bit of puttering back at the Suite as well.

Then I decorated the plain
old white bird to
brighten this picture up.
I ran out of blue paper so had
to do some remodelling.

After lunch, I finished the one project. It was a bit of a secret, which turned into a surprise for Sue. There is one other metal wall decoration in the clubhouse and I decided to dress up the plain white bird, turning it into an Eastern Bluebird.

I doubt it is anything to be
proud of, but my little bro
in Cold Lake, Alberta says
they made the list yesterday.
Brrr.

She didn't know that's what I was doing, as I hid it each time she came over to visit.🤭😉 When I had it complete, I hung it back on the wall by the puzzle table. She brought over potatoes for baking around 2:30 and when she didn't notice, I eventually pointed it out. She was quite pleased, I think.

At 4 (4:15 for some late-comers) 11 of us had a baked potato with all the fixin's (sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, onion and chili), some vegetables and apple pie for our supper. To blow my own horn, the pie was delicious and luckily enough for each one to have a small piece.

It was all very good, and the bonus is I didn't have to cook and there are 2 pieces of pie left for us! We brought one of the remaining 5 baked potatoes home for another night. We cleaned up and parted ways just after 5. After today, we have our 6 days off so that will be nice.

This was a good day. The puzzle is coming along almost too quickly but I'm enjoying it with a bit of help from Leesa while she did her laundry. We only had a high temperature 67F/ 17C today but it was just fine with a fair bit of sunshine to start.

Monday - No Pool

On Monday, Nov. 10th, I was up and mobile by 7 am. Bill was having breakfast downstairs and I headed out to walk with Sue and Diane. It is a very short walk, compared to what I used to do, but it is fine for now. It is better than nothing.

Good morning!

He left for the flying field and I made my tea and had a banana with cream. After my shower, I trimmed my bangs and Gibbs and I went for a short walk before I went to the clubhouse for Ladies Poker Pool.

Sadly, other than Angie and I, no one else showed up. Sue and Fred were out turkey shopping for the Thanksgiving meal. We decided that 2 players is no fun so called it a 'no show'. Hopefully, we'll get more next month. I look forward to these games.

I stayed and worked on the puzzle after chatting/listening to Angie for a while. I got quite a few pieces in and around 11, came home to my boys. Bill had been flying so was charging batteries and checking out my flat bike tire. A new tube is required, not sure why it is leaking.

As usual, we just got waved through
at the inspection station.

At noon, we came in for lunch and they (my boys) had their snooze. I caught up on friends' blogs and comments and we went for a drive to Blythe. We stopped first at the post office and Bill mailed a parcel and bought some stamps for cards.

We went from there to Ace Hardware and I bought a bike tube and lock and Bill ordered a battery for one of his tools. Can't even remember what the name is but they didn't have it in stock but would within the week. It is only 20 minutes/miles to Blythe, CA so easy to go back.

Fuel prices in California, however,
are far from beautiful.
We are at least $1 less than 
any we saw in Blythe.

Back home, I did some quilling and Bill and Gibbs went up to watch a movie. Around 4, I took the little guy around the park with a stop at the empty dog park. No playing today. I sat outside in the shade of our shelter and read a few more chapters of my book before coming in to start supper.

I finished a couple of tree
ornaments today.

Air-fried chicken thighs, mac & cheese and corn were on the menu tonight. It has been another hot day but I think we're getting used to it. Mind you, we aren't working outside or anything. There has been a slight breeze throughout the day but nothing more than 6 mph.

Supper was great and filling as Kraft dinner always is. With clean up out of the way by 6:30, and nothing on tv that we both liked to watch, Bill went upstairs to a movie and I stayed downstairs and caught up on Bones.  I've moved into Season 12.

A-Quilling we will Go!

On Wednesday, Jan. 22^nd our normal startup took place. I got up after my stretches (surprisingly, my back is improving each day), and joined Bill downstairs. It was dark still at 7 and only 32F/0C so I washed, dressed and layered up against a cold walk. Nancy and I headed out at 7:15, both of us marveling at the pretty sunrise that was about to happen. Well, the pre-sunrise was prettier than the actual rising.

Good morning!

There wasn’t a breeze to speak of but it was darn chilly regardless! We walked exactly the same number of steps and distance as we did yesterday morning – and she’d already been out with Cooper. I guess we are predictable if nothing else! Bonus, my phone app and her Fitbit were on par. 😊 I’m glad to get that straightened out.

Bill didn’t have to work the tent today; Tommy was looking after the booth. They will switch places tomorrow. I know they are enjoying it but I’m sure that they will be happy to have their regular days back too. Nancy and I met Jess, Mike, Mae, Sue and Bette for coffee and peach coffee cake. Yum, this one was extra sweet but it sure hit the spot! I still like sweet. ♥

Back home, I grabbed my water and purse and Nancy and I headed out in Black Beauty for our quilling class. Jess had 6 participants today and we made vortex earrings. Seemed I was more fumbly today and couldn’t get my fingers to work properly but we all finished and, although I wasn’t 100% pleased with my result, I enjoyed the class and will surely wear the earrings. 😊

Bill and I had lunch when we got back to the Suite and when he got a call from Tommy at the show, he ran an errand soon after. By 2:30, he was home and Nancy and I hopped in Black Beauty with our chairs and drinks and we drove to Roadrunner. What fun to see Tom and Deb have arrived in Quartzsite after a very busy winter so far. Glad they are safe.

It was a fun couple of hours, sitting on the west side of their rig. We were sheltered from the wind and even though the sky was semi-cloudy, it was warm. Next time, we hope Patty and Duncan can join us, they had other pressing things happening today. Back home shortly after 5, we invited Nancy to join us for one of Bill’s bacon cheeseburgers. Of course, she accepted!

I think Nancy enjoyed the burger. 💓

We watched some news, mostly regarding the California fires, and settled in for the evening. We reached a warmer 69F/21F today which was a nice change. I hope your cold weather is improving too.

After supper, Gibbs thinks it is play time.
