Less Running but Still Busy

On Saturday, July 12th Bill was up and in motion after 6. Gibbs slept in for him, 30 minutes means a lot to a working guy. 😃 I remained where I was until 7 or later and then got up. My sciatica has been acting up a bit in the last couple of days so I sure wasn't going to skip my exercises.

Good morning!

We said goodbye to Bill after 7:30 and I made my tea and worked on finishing yesterday's blog. I did not feel like doing that last night. We went out around the property enough to realize that it would be another a/c day. I closed windows and set it at 25C/75F. Even Gibbs doesn't want to stay out long.

Just before 10, Robin messaged to say her guests had checked out so it meant I could go anytime. Better early than later in this heat, so I made a coffee, took water and a snack and headed off. First I wanted to check to see if the rain last night (yes, Bill said we had 'some' overnight) was enough to saturate her 4 outdoor plants.

Not really, so I filled her 3 gallon jug and gave them a good soaking. I took the main street route from there and arrived at Williamsford around 10:30. These were the most considerate guests ever! 

They put their used towels in the washer, washed and dried their dishes and took all the garbage out to the can. It makes a difference! Plus, they only used 1 bed so that helps too that I didn't have to re-make the upstairs beds. 

I did take some time to water her many indoor plants before I left. My usual 2 hours was only 1.5 today and I was home, the country road way, before 12:30. I have my family reunion tomorrow, mostly sibs and cousins now with only 1 uncle left. 

I decided to make some cupcakes and a potato salad so after some fried chicken 💕's and a slice of keto bread for lunch, I started. Bill was home around 12:30 and had already eaten enough 'snacky' stuff with the boys. 😋

The afternoon was spent inside, where it was coolest, and I finished my J.A. Jance book. It was a good story. Madame IP cooked my potatoes for me, less heat than a boiling pot on the stove. She's still my favourite Madame. 😂

A simple supper but it was enough

Supper was mini sausages, fried, some leftover potatoes for Bill, fried, and reheated cauliflower for me. Fried foods do not bother us, we like the grease, either bacon fat or olive oil.

Everything was good and just enough. Neither of us were very hungry. Bill did finish off the last 2 devilled eggs from last night's potluck so that emptied another dish from the fridge. I like that. My potatoes are in there cooling right now, to be cut up in the morning.

The heat is not Gibbs' favourite either

I have had a good day and I guess it will be Tuesday before I can put the brakes on. Ha ha. Don't worry, I seldom overdo anything! We reached a high of 31C/88F by supper time and although the weather network is saying it is raining in our area........um, it's not.

We chatted with Mike in Mildmay, about 40 minutes west (I think) of us, and he said they just had a terrible tornado-like storm. He's okay but there are a lot of trees down and it was very heavy rains in a short period of time. He called to see that we were okay. 

After supper, it began to cool down.
I turned the a/c off and opened windows.

We may or may not get rain again overnight, one never knows. I hope you are getting the weather you want.

Taking a Breather, Tidying Up at ‘Home’, Executor’s Duties

On Saturday, Oct. 24^th Bill and I took full advantage of a day off. We slept in and didn’t get up until almost 8 o’clock! We were both awake around 6 and then kept dropping back off again. Still dark outside, no rush to move. Once I woke up for good, Bill had dropped off again with his arm on mine so I didn’t want to wake him. I reached my phone and read blogs. 😊

Hard to pass up an opportunity to walk along the riverbank

Once we were up and dressed, he made a coffee and had some toast downstairs with Wes and Susan. I got bundled up for the 2C/37F morning and went for a walk. I’ll regret it if I don’t go and let me tell you, after walking near 2 miles, I truly would have been sad to have missed it. I found a new trail along the Saugeen River and followed it as far as I could. Thanks to a young couple walking their dog.

Back home, I was warmed up and made myself a cup of tea. Wes had little ‘home’ jobs to do and Susan as well. We stayed out of each other’s way, which in the big house isn’t hard to do without really trying. Bill cleaned the water tank on our Keurig and I busied myself upstairs emptying boxes. Boy, we had a lot of ‘liquid-type’ stuff from the bathroom! I’m going to work at emptying the half-filled tubes etc. this winter. It is kind of ridiculous. That’s what I get for selling Avon, I guess.

Bacon and eggs plus half slice of spelt toast

We all met downstairs around noon hour, they were finishing up their lunch while I started cooking bacon and eggs at 12. Then we came upstairs and I set about getting some paperwork done for Mom’s estate. Things are coming together and I’m feeling confident that I won’t be too long getting things settled. At 3, Bill stretched out on the bed and I started my blog post before taking my crossword and book downstairs.

A cup of tea was in order so I decided to let him sleep and went down to my own peace and quiet in the living room. Supper tonight was thick pork chops and potatoes in Madame IP and coleslaw on the side. 

A little history in the town

I was hungry and it tasted good but after dishes, I left Bill watching the kitchen tv and came upstairs. I had a bit of a headache so took two Advil and worked on my blog post. Could be the change in the weather, who knows? It’s unusual for me to have them.

This was a relatively easy day, just hanging around here but at the same time, I got a lot of smaller stuff taken care of. Starting the day off with a nice walk was a bonus. We’ve got some cold nights and cool days coming in the next week and then it will probably stick around. We’re very glad to be somewhere warm without having to pay the propane costs. 😊
