Cooler, Wet, Windy, Indoor Cleanup

Park Place RV Park

On Thursday, Mar. 13th the day didn't start off the same as we have gotten used to. It was cool and windy, pretty much from the get-go. We did get a bit of rain late yesterday but not much. It was in the forecast again for today, higher percentages. Bill said goodbye to his fellow pilots and club members yesterday at their club meeting so had no need to go to the field today. It was not a good morning for outside visiting anyway! I'm not whining, but the 50F/10C felt cooler unless you were dressed for it.

Good morning!
This is the moment Gibbs realized.....
"I'm 4 now?"

I know Bill puttered outside a bit and then went to fill Black Beauty as well as a spare can for travel. The price at Arco has dropped to a nice $3.29/gal, so that is great. I did my full blocking exercise routine and took Gibbs for his walk. I think that was the best part of the day. Chilly enough for a hoody but not bad at all with the early sunshine. I wanted to tackle a few jobs today inside the Suite so started at the shower.

First peek at the morning sky

Gibbs was on a mission
and we had a nice walk together.

We have a curved corner unit and the door track and base of the shower get very grimy. It required the whole 'get down on the knees, elbow grease' kind of clean. I'm making it sound worse that it was but now it is shiny clean again.

Clouds didn't waste time moving in

When I came downstairs and realized it was only 10 am, I tackled the pantry.  The shelves got wiped down and I even discarded a few things that were expired to the point of no return.

It's coming along - quickly

I still had time to go to the clubhouse to work on the puzzle for an hour and a half. 😊 I was glad it moved slower today so I could leave some for another day. Back home, Bill and I had chicken noodle soup for lunch. That hit the spot and by now, it was cool enough that Bill changed from shorts to long pants. That tells you how cool it felt. The rain arrived around 11:30 so when I did run home, it was under the cover of my hoody. The gusts were hitting 30.9 mph so we were glad the gazebo was no longer a worry.

The before picture doesn't look much different to you than the after picture but to me, it is a big improvement.

For the afternoon, I spent my time upstairs watching a movie. I'd seen The Choice before but enjoyed it even the second time. Gibbs shared his time between the two of us, Bill was downstairs snoozing and watching his own preference of entertainment. Before I came down to start supper, I searched for and found a recommendation from Bette. I was immediately drawn into Midsomer Murders, getting caught up in the British series. So, thank you Bette!

I ran home in the rain and wind.

Supper was a mixed up deal. there was enough of the ground beef gravy for Bill, so I cooked some wieners for me and mixed up a salad for both of us. It worked well and we were appropriately filled. 😊 After the wee bit of cleanup, we watched our Thursday night programs. 9-1-1, Matlock and Elspeth were on, one right after the other. It was a windy, cold day so neither Gibbs or I minded missing our afternoon walk.

At least, I enjoyed the movie!

It has been a good 'indoor' day and we all need those. I managed to get some things done that I've wanted to do. We only reached a high of 59F/15C today, which is quite a change for us. Warmup is not far off though.

Supper was easy and filling.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

Wild and Windy but Warm

The Ridge

On Saturday, Apr. 27th Bill and Gibbs didn’t get up until almost 6:30. So they tell me. I never paid much attention in my still half-asleep slumber. 😊 I didn’t get up until almost 7:30. For some reason my sleep was not normal for me. I was awake a few times, maybe too warm, and my legs seemed restless. Bill, on the other hand, seemed to sleep very well so that’s good.

Last night the sky was spooky
but still pretty.
Good morning!

It was a cloudy day from the very beginning until around 5:30 when the sun pushed through some of the clouds. “Here I am!” it seemed to be screaming. It was a mild day, once we got to mid-afternoon, reaching 18C/64F for a high. The wind was crazy though and our shelter cover I just flopping away. The rains came mostly for the morning, not too heavy but enough to get wet.

On our way to Hanover, 20 minute drive

We drove back to Hanover today with a stop first in Giant Tiger to check out their 35%/whipping cream price and I bought a half quart size with an 18% size. They don’t have that last one in the U.S., no where I could find. Strange. I like the thicker/ higher fat content cream in my coffee because unlike many (most?) I don’t LOVE the taste of coffee. It needs to be doctored, then I like it. 😊

Just hanging out while the water transferred
into the Suite

Our only other place to stop today was at Healthy Computers to pick up my laptop. Yay! I was excited since Tim told me he’d put in a solid-state drive and it was incredibly fast. For $200, it was a quick and easy fix so we were thrilled. Thank you to a commenter, KennyD, for that suggestion. I knew when you commented that it was what Tim told me on the phone but I couldn't remember what he called it. Worth the money, for sure.

The view over the pond.
It will change considerably over the next
month.

Back home, it was raining still so we hung inside for the most part. I’d finished my book so needed to find a new one. Of course, I tested my laptop and Bill just laughed as I continuously exclaimed (purposely exaggerated with hand gestures) “wow!” I was grateful for the use of his HP last night as it is always very fast. I’m also happy not to have to break in a new laptop. Bonus! 😊

Gibbs love the outdoors
so we were happy the rain stopped earlier
than we first thought.

We had lunch and Bill went out to the Hangar to putter on his Cub. I stayed inside with Gibbs and while he pined for Daddy, I worked on my cross stitch for a couple of hours. It’s looking hopeful but still a lot to do. I'm sure I won't get it done this summer.

Thank goodness for the vision aid with the funky glasses, it is too small to easily see the stitches let alone count where they go.

The sun is powerful and so is the wind.
One is responsible for the late day clearning. 😉

At 4:30, Bill went to the Acreage to put the filter in and turn the pump on. He also got a bladder full of water although we still had 45 gallons. Nice to have our water source available to us again now that the overnight temperatures will be above freezing. Thank you to Rob and Pat for the water we got a couple of times to tide us over.

Okay, time to get serious.
No potatoes for me.

For supper, I baked pork chops, cooked a potato and corn for Bill and some sprouts for me. It was very good. By the time dishes were cleared, the clouds were bumped completely out of the way and we were sitting at a lovely 19C/67F. Our overnight low was going to be 14C/58F, wow!

Today was better than this shows,
maybe they'll be wrong tomorrow too.
Doubt it but....

This has been a good day  even though we weren’t working outside. We take each day as it comes. PS - it's like a have a new computer, I'd forgotten how swift one should be!

for my coffee loving friends
Enjoy!
Good night!
(and within 15 minutes, my blog is done and posted!)
Happy Dance!

Thank you for the visit.

Blowin’ in the Wind, Warm Sun Though

The Ridge

On Sunday, Apr. 21st we were both in a bit of shock when we saw sunshine rising in full view out our back window. We also knew that it wouldn’t last long because there was a large presence of cloud hovering just above it. Last night, or the wee hours of the morning, we dropped to a chilly 0C/32F and that’s about where it was at 7. I was up at 6:45 as I seemed to be slept out after my 8 hours of blissful slumber. 😊

Good morning!

I joined Bill downstairs and we sat and had our morning brews together. Tea is still my go-to drink first thing. Lots of cream and a tablespoon of coconut oil tops it off nicely, giving me the fat to keep me full until my mid-morning coffee. Sometimes, I have yogourt but not every morning. Although cool/cold outside, we both were anxious to get ‘something’ done today since there was to be no precipitation of any shape or form.

Front and back put up
That's a start

Bill went out before it got too windy and began covering the shelter. This houses our Yamaha, Ptooties winter tires, the shelving unit for our bike boots & helmets and the new riding mower. He said he’d call me when he needed my help so I stayed out of the way. I did bundle up myself though, in long johns under my jeans, before putting Gibbs’ coat on and grabbed my winter coat from the Bunky. Then we went out to greet the day. Brrrr.

The outhouse is the first to get
cleaned out and decorated

The sun was certainly warm but the clouds were making a game of hiding it just as we were feeling the heat. Out, in, out, in was the game. 😊 Bill managed to get the ends on the shelter only, and I did help a wee bit holding them in place while he did the hard part of bolting and attaching the metal joints. We leave the frame up all year but it is still a pain to get the covering in place.

Bill got the firepit out and
burned some cardboard.

We were hoping to have it all covered so we could move those items out of the sheds but it was too cold and windy to finish. I got my trowel and managed to get another small garden weeded.  We emptied the stored items out of the outhouse aka Ridge Restroom and I swept it out and hung a few things outside. We’ve learned from past years not to leave t.p. on the roller so I retrieved one of those as well. The mice like it too much to leave it out.

I'm very sad about my sweater
Any great ideas out there for you crocheters?
Or is it a lost cause?

Speaking of mice. I did find one on the floor yesterday in there, dead, and although we place the poison blocks in the sheds, they also found my hand crocheted sweater in the Bunky. I said a few choice words that I won’t repeat as I have no illusion that it can be fixed. It was perfect for campfire sitting, long enough to keep my behind warm too. It’s the only item of clothing they touched – so far – but the most important. I should have packed it in the Rubbermaid tub. Darn!

The goldfinches and
chickadees are happy I put the feeders out

Bill went to the Hangar and hung his solar light and wind sock and Gibbs and I came inside. My feet could not get warm! It was only 10 am, we’d been outside for a couple of hours, so I sat with Gibbs and started another book. This one is called The Good Girl by Mary Kubica and it’s a page turner. It won’t take me long to read.

Across North Line
the cattle were headed out for their day

We had sandwiches for lunch and Bill went up to watch a movie and/or snooze. Gibbs was back and forth between us, seeking cuddles where he could get them.

We hung around for the rest of the afternoon, still too cold to be outdoors for very long. The clouds mostly moved out, which means we’re in for another c-c-cold night.  It seems that the warm weather is in the provinces to the west so we’ll just wait until they are done with it. We can wait. 😊

Simple but good.
I actually had some popcorn later. 😋

For supper, we had sausages on a keto bun and they were very good. The buns were too small but I like more meat anyway!

We’ve had a good day, despite the cool temps and look forward to starting our week with the promise of a change.

Good night!

Thank you for stopping in.

A No Driving Day, Trying our Luck

Lucky Star Casino

On Saturday, Apr. 6th it felt wonderful to laze in bed for as long as I wanted. Not that I haven’t really been able to do that, it’s just that when you have places to go and things to do, it’s an inner urge to get moving early. It was 6:30 when I woke up and after 7 when I got up. Bill turned the furnace on for me since I was going to have a shower and it is a quick burst to warm up the bathroom.

Good morning!

The problem was that we forgot to turn the hot water heater on yesterday, so I ended up waiting 20 minutes anyway. Bill made my tea for me and we relaxed together with Mr. Gibbs. 😊 I’m sure this little fella was happy not to be hopping in the truck for another long day. He was getting used to it but let me tell you, he sure cuddled and slept a lot today.

And good morning to you guys!

This is a new area with a lot of prairie dogs in the field directly behind us. Oh, and lots of evidence of prairie dogs. I had to get my big Canon camera out of the closet when I looked out the dirty back window and saw not one, not two but three sticking their little heads up out of the holes at the same time. Good morning to you guys too! 😊 I know they make a mess of a field but I love watching them so much – because it isn’t my back yard.

A cuddling, sleepy kind of day
for our little traveler

Our plan today was to remain idle. Basically, that was it. I did take Gibbs out and down the hill to the trees for his walk and that wind almost took him away! Just kidding, but it was strong then and has been around 30 mph all day and will be into the evening. We are grateful not to be driving today. Gayle and John, sis and hubby, are about 3 ½ hours north of us, making their way home too, and stopped just after lunch for the night. The winds were just too much for them too.

These guys are pretty cute

I wanted to get out again with my big camera and take more pictures but the winds were crazy, making it dusty. Instead, Bill and I watched 3 more episodes of The Voice, which, thanks to G & J, we were able to get on the CTV app after missing the whole season. We enjoyed the time together and had a lot of laughs at the coaches’ goofiness. At 4, we got cleaned up and walked back to the Casino to try our luck at the 1¢ machines.

I went out right after my shower and my
hair was dry in 2 minutes. Gibbs kind of likes his
locks blowing in the wind.
That's us up there on the hill.

We each spent our $20 and Bill came out ahead only by $10, but it went towards our supper tonight. My $20 was a donation, just as I’d planned! 😊 It was another great meal, tonight, I had the shrimp and fries and Bill had the bacon cheeseburger meal. We were home with full tummies by 5:30 and Gibbs had his outing and supper too. The dust blowing across the lot is not encouraging us to go out and walk any further than necessary. Gibbs understands, I’m sure.

Yummy supper. I couldn't eat all the fries
but they were delicious.

After getting my pictures downloaded, much less than the last few days, I finished my blog and will either watch tv or read my book. This has been a pleasant day, restful and quiet (except for our loud laughter). I hope you’ve had a nice day too. Our temperatures, even in the wind and only partly sunny skies, reached a high of 77F/25C. Tomorrow should be a calmer day with full sun. Fingers crossed.

It's quite dusty out there in the distance.
Good night.

Thank you for stopping by. We are happy you are tagging along.

Tired of the Wind, Birthday for a Special Little Girl

Park Place RV Park

On Monday, Jan. 8th Bill and Gibbs were up at 6 for an outside run. I’m sure it was a quick one since it was only 40F/5C and it was windy. I didn’t get up until almost 7:30, there was no need for me to crawl out from the warm covers until then. 😊 I stayed up until 10:30, watching the movie, Larry Crowne. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts – how could I go wrong? I didn’t, it was a fun one to watch. Like the books I read, I should be making a list of those I’m watching, such choices on Prime!

Good morning!

Bill was up until 11:30 as usual, so I wasn’t surprised when he dropped off downstairs in his recliner until I was up making my tea, emptying the dishwasher. My sleeping ‘beauty’. Gibbs and I went for our walk as he finished getting ready but neither of us were keen on the weather. Other than a clear blue sky, which (don’t get me wrong) was lovely, but it felt much colder than the thermometer said! Brrr! I cut the walk short and Gibbs didn’t seem to mind.

Help me wish this little sweetie a
Happy 3rd Birthday Hadley Rose!
Her Mom says she acts older than 3
and is full of sass. (I wonder where that came from, Jess?)
Easton loves his little sister. 💗

Bill hadn’t planned on flying this morning but did plan on spending the morning at Jim’s working on his Something Extra (it’s a plane). I’m glad he’s happy and that what makes him happy, other than Gibbs and I, is within reach and available to him over the winter, this far away from ‘home’. 😊 At 9:15 I walked over to the clubhouse with my pool stick and was the last to arrive – again!

It was a beautiful blue sky but the strong
cool winds from the north, went right through you.

The ladies had the table uncovered, the cards and my book set out. Today, there were 5 of us, yay! Not sure what happened to the others, well, Susan is away, but we are happy to play with whoever makes an appearance an we’re getting better all the time. No real ‘shark’ today, we played equally good and bad. Ha ha. The fun is in the game and who we play with so we had a great morning.

Dora was the winner with Sheila a close second. The rest of us brought up the rear, all under 20 points. After a ‘see ya later! we took our leave for lunch. Being of the Snelgrove clan, like Mom, I hate to throw anything out that can be salvaged. That being said, there were 6 or 7 slices of the ‘old’ French bread left so I made French toast again. It used it up quite nicely and with our maple syrup, it was heavenly! 😊

Lunch and how the puzzle was left today

After lunch, Bill cut up the pineapple we bought in Walmart and I prepared the ingredients for a loaf of our own white bread. After it kneaded in the machine, I moulded it into the bread pan and covered and set it under a warm light to rise. Time to work on the puzzle! It is a hard one and after trying to continue where I was working yesterday, I moved to the other side of the table and began putting the balloon pieces together.

My afternoon job was also to bake bread.
My breadmaker did the kneading for me. 😁

At 4, when Dora and Gerald were sweeping and cleaning up the garbage, I tottered on home. The bread had risen in leaps and bounds, according to Bill, so we turned our power back on and I baked the loaf at 350 for 30 minutes. Yum. Bill would be needing some for lunch tomorrow. I made a cup of tea and then took Gibbs for his/our walk around the park. It was 5:30. By now, the winds had died down and our gazebo, after surviving 2 days of it, was still standing. 😊

When Gibbs went out at 5:30
the pink Scadden Mountains were on display

The thing I noticed? The sun was at least 5 minutes later setting. The days are indeed getting longer. Because of that, we were able to capture it dropping behind the Oldman Mountains. I’ve tried to find the name of those ridges and that’s the best I can pinpoint. La Paz Mountain is also behind that but between them, they swallowed the sun a bit later tonight.💓

And the sun was just about to say goodbye

For supper, it was leftover meatloaf, coleslaw and warm, ‘fresh out of the oven’, bread. We love our slicer thingy and although we’re eating flour, we know exactly what goes into each loaf. We didn’t have a big clean up, the dishwasher did the job for us. Bill has fallen deeply into his David Baldacci book over the last couple of cool days so is focusing on that for a while tonight. I’ll see if I read mine or watch another movie.

a good simple supper.

Well-worn and loved

This has been a good day. A cold one, but a good one. Temperatures are dropping into the mid to low 30’s tonight and the forecasters are warning of a hard freeze between 1 am and 9 am. No snow though and full sun again tomorrow. As my t-shirt says “Sunshine Fills My Soul”. 😊

Ain't it the truth?
Good night!

Thank you for the visit.

Not a Good Way to Wake Up, Wind Cancels Plans

Park Place RV Park

On Sunday, Nov. 19th Bill and Gibbs were up shortly after 6. I slept really well last night from 9:45, when Saving Private Ryan ended, until they got up. I dropped off again for another hour and made motions to get up. They were motions only, as when I got to the bottom of the bed, vertigo hit me. When Bill heard me say ‘oh no’, he came to my rescue and helped me back to bed. He brought me my water.

When I finally did get outside around 11:30
you couldn't even see the mountains yet
we were quite clear here at our park.

I know better. I had some yesterday during the afternoon but last night at supper, the waitress didn’t bring us any and we neglected to ask. I should have, we always do. LOL The hot tea was very good but apparently, not a substitute. I shooed Bill off to the flying field, I’d been here before and it would pass. He brought me my phone and glasses and after he pulled out, Gibbs settled beside me.

Looking to the west, the mountains are
hardly visible.

I tried numerous times between 8 and 10 to get up but it was pointless. At 10:30 I thought I was better so got up slowly, made the bed and went down. I thought a cup of tea would help but I couldn’t even stand up enough to make that. Gibbs and I dozed some more in my recliner and just before 11, I made my tea. Bill was home within 10 minutes, showing concern. It’s getting better was all I could say. 😊

I sat outside in the heat of the lovely sun while Bill did a few more things with his planes and the solar. Strapping the batteries in was important so he’d bought webbing strap and finished another little job. There are a couple more things he needs I believe from Discount Solar so that’s tomorrow when they open for the week. At 12:30 we came in and I was still a bit ‘dizzy’ (haha) but fried a couple of eggs for lunch. Bill made toast.

The puzzle is coming along. Now that the upper pieces
are done (almost) I'll work my way down and
meet up with what the ladies have done.

We’d made plans to scoot out to La Posa South (the LTVA camp area) to visit Gary and Judy from Alberta. I figured sitting would be the best way to spend the afternoon so deciding to leave Gibbs at home today, we left around 1:45. We knew it was windy, quite windy, so when we saw what they were getting out in the desert, we texted and all agreed that a calmer day would make for a nicer visit. We turned back for home.

Things were looking a bit better by 2
but we soon lost our blue sky. It turned gray.

Since I was up and moving, I went to the puzzle for an hour and a half and managed to get the sky and trees done on the puzzle. There are a few holes to fill in but that’s for another day. Back home at 4, I’d made a tea when Gibbs wanted to go out. I took him for his afternoon walk around the park, he missed out this morning. I was in no shape to go then. 😊

Leftover meatloaf, potatoes and a vegetable for supper, fairly easy. I sure wouldn’t wish this kind of day startup on anyone but I also know there are plenty of worse ailments that others are experiencing. I got past it but 6 hours was more than I’ve had to deal with it in a long time. I rarely get these bouts since I learned the cause and have behaved for the most part. We reached a pleasant high of 76F/25C even with winds reaching 17 mph most of the afternoon.

Games are being played with the fuel prices.
Diesel was $4.17 when we arrived on Nov. 1st.
Over time, dropped to $3.69 then up to $3.99
for a few days and yesterday dropped again to
$3.89. It's okay by us, we're using so little but
top up occasionally.

When Gibbs and I went for our walk,
the mountains were mere shadows of their
former selves.
I'm very grateful to be where we are,
especially on days like this.

Supper was delicious, my veggie was Brussel sprouts and Bill had mixed. He washed the pots and I dried and set the dishwasher to run. It sounds like a bit of a windy night so we brought the awnings in and hope the gazebo is sheltered enough from the rv’s and Black Beauty. This was not what I call the best of days but after a rough start, it improved greatly. I was feeling 100% by suppertime.

Gibbs sat on the back of my recliner
and got very cuddly after our walk.
Little love bug. 💖
Good night!
