More Mixed Weather, Isn't this Fun?

The Ridge

On Monday, Apr. 21st I didn't have any reason to get moving. BUT, by 7, I was slept out and got up anyway. There was a whole day ahead of us. Bill had risen before or by 6 (I was asleep) and prepared for the phone call about work. Yes, today was an 'if' depending on the weather.

Good morning!
Top picture was last night's spooky sky.

I came down and made my tea and with rain and very strong winds today, the call was 'not today' as they were to be doing eaves at Murray's. Good call, I'd say, so Bill changed back into 'home' clothes and we carried on with our day.

When we came back from town, I watched
on our Wyze security camera.
This is when he first heard us return.

Because of the winds, steady between 20 and 27 mph but gusting to 35 mph, there would be no outside work done this morning. When my tea was finished and we'd relaxed until 9 and then drove into Durham. First stop was at our voting poll station and put in our 2¢ worth. Let's hope it is worth more than that! We need change!

When Bill headed back in to town
for propane, he was watched until he
disappeared down the lane.💕

Then we drove over to Impact Tire and saw Jackie to pick up our Catch the Ace tickets for Friday night's draw. There is always a chance we'll get lucky but not if we don't participate. Back home, Bill swapped vehicles and took yet another empty propane tank into the FS Co-op for a refill.

I walked down to retrieve the empty recycle bin
I spotted this turtle along the way.

Gibbs and I stayed put inside and I finished Marilynne's Mother's Day card so it is now ready to go. I had something else I wanted to make so worked on that too. I chatted with Bridgette about an overseas venue we like to buy from online, sharing experiences, mostly positive.

There is hope for some clearing
but it didn't last.

Bill went to the Hangar for a bit and for lunch I made toasted Western sandwiches. I was hungry and that is a better way to be at meal times. The yogourt for breakfast instead of cereal is working for me and the hope the scales soon show it!

Our peony bush has buds and
the berm garden beside it needs some
perking up. I'll get the rake out this week.

Bill went back down and I carried on at the kitchen table with my paper. I like to have some music on while I'm indoors so put Youtube videos on the tv. I found Willie Nelson's 70th birthday party (again, because I love it) and then an old video of The Highwaymen. It entertained me while I worked.

My rhubarb is starting out slow
and the mini daffodils are not even
budding yet.

Gibbs and I went outside for a while when the sun made an appearance and took a walk around my gardens. Things are starting to bud and others are beginning to pop their heads up out of the ground.

We're glad we took this tree down last
fall because the winter here may have
caused damage to Bill's trailer or Hangar.

The evening primrose, which I have everywhere, needs to be cleaned up so I started pulling all the dead twigs. The peony bush took a bit of a hit, with 4 or 5 broken branches from the snow, as did the rose of Sharon (which never flowers).

For Patti C, pussy willows

I crawled through the back fence and walked to the property next door that is vacant and for sale. Last year, there was a bounty crop of rhubarb that I watched flourish from afar. The place wasn't totally empty then, they could have returned at any time or I would have helped myself. This summer, I'm going to.

From the very southwest corner
of our back field, a look to the Ridge.

Peeking over their fence,
there are huge patches of rhubarb
left to waste.

When the clouds and wind had Gibbs and I coming in for shelter, I carried on with the quilling until it was time to start supper. We had leftover ham, baked fingerling potatoes, reheated stuffing and mixed vegetables. Lots of food and we enjoyed every morsel.

A good filling meal

Tonight is NCIS and NCIS Origins as well as American Idol, so there will be some channel juggling to see what we can. This has been a warm day but this morning we had the winds, some rain and even a thunderstorm for about 10 minutes. We did reach a high of 16C/60F but dropping to another cold night. When will this end? Wednesday, we think.

It looks clearer after supper,
but that didn't last either.
We had a cloud covered night

But it was pretty.
Good night!

Thank you for coming by.

    1. At least the white precipitation is done (we think!) and should improve.
That is a nice piece of property next door.

  2. Hopefully the snow we're getting today won't reach you. It is only April so not unexpected, but I am truly ready for spring to stick around.

  4. Like Maebeme, we had snow for most of the morning and into the afternoon. It then changed to rain. Who knows what tomorrow will bring us here on the prairies. I would be picking that rhubarb as well. Love me rhubarb pie and rhubarb jam.

    God bless.
