A Beautiful Day, Some Sprucing up for the King

The Ridge

On Wednesday, June 25th we were both off to work early. It was a great night's sleep with windows open. I was lost in a dream, still, when I heard Bill and Gibbs around 6:05. They'd already been up and out and Bill was getting washed and dressed.

Good morning!
Last night's clouds were interesting,

I got up to say goodbye and stayed up at 6:30. I was washed and dressed by 6:45 and on my way out before 7. We were all looking forward to a bit of a cool down today, and the days ahead, but I mean 'a bit', it will still be warm/hot.  Just what we wanted. 😀

It cooled down considerably after
the sun made its final descent.

When I arrived at the Mat, just Mr. Smart Car was inside. He reminds me of Daddy, so much. Small and thin, pleasant yet on the shy, quiet side. The radio was blaring (which tells me the homeless gal was in last night), so the first thing I did was climb up to turn it way down. That poor man!

The front field looks 100% improved.

Speaking of Daddy, I found a dime in a washer indicating he was thinking of me. Humour me. This belief, is mine. 💕 I finished up after having a laugh with the 'soap sister' from last week over her 'oops' and then I left.

I stopped for water but Mark wasn't around so left the $3 on the counter and drove to Impact Tire to buy Catch the Ace tickets from Jackie. Yes, it started up this week. Back home, I sat outside with Gibbs while I finished my tea. It was lovely in the shade.

This was also last night, we sat outside
on the step listening to the Cub Cadet even
though we couldn't see it. We were trying
to cool down until the mosquitoes found me.
Picture on the left? Yup, that's puppy love. 💞💞

Down south this past winter, Bill found a great deal on a palm sander and since he needed one for.....geesh, I've forgotten, he picked one up. We didn't have one here at home. So, I got it out and began sanding the King chairs in the semi-shade of our dying service berry tree.

The chairs are ready for painting.
I'm using a solid stain this time.

It went well and Gibbs supervised from various pockets of shade, mostly in his bed at the patio. 😊 I finished all but the hi-backs when I came in for a meat, cheese and lettuce sandwich for lunch. I'm back into my seeded Carbonaut bread and love the freshness of it.

Gibbs fell asleep on his supervisor
job.

I didn't know if I'd finish the chairs today but decided to go out and finish sanding them at least. When we were sitting in the shade of the awning, a side-by-side came up the lane. Threw me right off until I realized that it was Roz and Brian, our Lion's Club sponsors.

Just like a couple of teenagers
on a date! Love this picture.

This is a new purchase for them and they were just bringing it home. Sweet! Gracie still does not like Gibbs, well, according to Brian she doesn't like many other dogs, but our sweet boy stood his ground and wouldn't be bullied - even by this little pip-squeak. Ha ha.

Roz is always smiling, so obviously I
caught her off guard.
Nice wheels, sounds like a Yamaha with pipes. 😂

They didn't stay long, just wanted to pop in as they went by, so I took a picture of them to send to them. Selfies don't always do the moment justice. 😄 They live 2 concessions over, on the same road that the Acreage is on so scooted off after a few minutes.

When someone arrives at the Ridge, it is
hard to know who it is until they come
through this opening. Gibbs and I were
puzzled today.
Even cars going by on the road, fool us.

Gibbs and I came in around 2ish and I set to work on another quilling project. It didn't turn out quite as nice as I'd hoped but the meaning is there and I think it will be appreciated by the recipient. Bill had indicated that he might be late tonight so supper will depend on 'how' late.

I replaced the second handlebar grip but
the mirror bracket would not go over it
properly. It was soooo close!

As it turned out, he was home by 5:15 so we went with the steak I had thawed. Neither of us wanted too big of a meal so I fried some mushrooms and heated a can of brown beans. It was perfect, topping it off with a delicious drumstick. 💗

I think this is the last of the cheap steak
from the freezer. Next time........T-bone!

Bill made his lunch and decided to skip cutting the back field tonight. It was a hot outside working day again and I encouraged him to wait. We'll have time on Friday. This has been a really nice day. It wasn't as humid as it has been and although more wind would have been great, it was pleasant.

Our shovel on the hill is brimming
with Evening primrose.

We reached 29C/85F, same as yesterday but with the humidity mostly gone, it made a huge difference. I hope you enjoyed your hump day!

A lovely day!
Good evening!

Thank you for the visit.

  1. Nice job on the chairs. That sander will make quick work of it. Cute puppy ... just like Jessie. She hated EVERYONE!

  2. Palm sanders are great. We have a couple here. I wondered what you meant by King chairs so seeing the picture helped me understand.

    God bless.
