Monday at Home

The Ridge

On Monday, June 16th I heard nothing, not a peep, until 6:25. Still it was very quiet downstairs and I had to look out the window to see if Bill had crept out. As I would say to Gerry H, sneakily, 😂 Nope, he was just sitting at the table.........forgetting that he had to be somewhere!

Good morning!

I got up for a goodbye kiss and crawled back into bed. I didn't need to get up but I wasn't tired enough to drop off. After he pulled out, which Gibbs monitored from our little window right at my side, I hopped in the shower. The scales were being good to us today. Yay! Something is working.

I'm glad I thought to put oranges
in this unused suet feeder.
They love it and get into all
kinds of contortions to get at them.

I made my tea and rather than leave the blinds all open, I  began closing the sun shades. It was going to be a hot day and it is a great way to keep the Suite cool. I did open a few windows on the north side as the air was lovely at 16C/61F.

Gibbs has a favourite stick outside now

Since I was caught up on my blog posting, phew!, I had nothing pressing today. I loaded the garbage and recycle bin in Ptooties and took it down to the road.

He has never brought it in the house.
It comes as far as the door sometimes and
we say 'no, that doesn't come in the house'
and he drops it, politely.💘
No tantrum. haha

What I did have to do though was re-write  our grocery list and it got longer by the minute. Bill is off tomorrow and we are headed to Owen Sound after lunch for an appointment. Good opportunity to stock up. It's mostly dairy stuff but Michael's (craft store) and Dollarama are calling my name too.

Sitting at the picnic table with the
crossword, it was beautiful.
So was the view.

Gibbs and I went out and sat in the sun for about an hour. It was wonderful in the breeze. Gibbs was under the picnic table where I worked on the crossword puzzle. It seems easy today, or perhaps I am having a 'smart' day! 😃

Our scruffy pond is really high this spring.

My plants need watering but I will do that once the sun is off them. There is no rain expected now until tomorrow night and Wednesday. Then it won't stop until Saturday night. LOL All or nothing, right? Oh well, it is warm, warm, hot, warm and I'm loving that.

I took this picture for a project
I'm working on. Yes, another one!

We had a nice little video chat with 'our' youngest daughter, Jess, last evening. She is in Alberta and things are not the best for her right now. She still maintains a smile through the difficulties.😔 Her youngest, Hadley, is a firecracker and had to show us her gymnastics moves. Flexible! 😍

I nipped into town for half hour to pick up some t-bone steaks at Foodland that were on a 'bogo' sale. Two nice ones for $30, bodes well with us. They also had pork ribs on for $5.99/lb so I grabbed a package of those. Two meals there for $16.

He has been back a few times today.
He even sent his wife to have a snack.

After an egg and garlic knot for lunch, we went outside again. M gave me a large (about 16 x 18") canvas board a week or so ago. He wanted me to paint our trailer on the Ridge. hahaha, I just laughed. I don't do free-hand painting!

However, I did say I'd try an amateur drawing of our 'camp site' up here and he's good with that. I don't know how he thinks these things up but he's alone and gets ideas. I took it as a challenge and today, when it was too hot to sit outside, I drew instead of starting a puzzle.

For any of you who can draw, please no
laughing, you'll hurt my delicate feelings! Ha ha
The light colours don't show up real well but other
than a back window on the Suite, it
didn't turn out too badly.
Not to scale AT ALL but it was actually fun.

Gibbs and I came inside around 4 where it is surprisingly cooler with the overhead fans going and blinds pulled. Good! We are making use of our solar so I didn't want to think about a/c - yet. 😊

Bill was home by 4:30 and relaxed until supper. Grilled sausage on a bun tonight, using up the last of our buns. Just in time to buy more tomorrow. It was no surprise that the sausage was yummy and Bill finished off the stewed rhubarb.

I love these sausages. I think they
are honey garlic rather than mild Italian.
They had a spice I didn't care as much for.
Plus, these actually fit the bun!

There aren't enough dishes to run the dishwasher tonight so will do that in the morning. What a beautiful day! 27C/80F and up until 5, the perfect breeze when it almost died off altogether. Bill went to the Hangar as he didn't have to make a lunch for tomorrow.

Peek-a-boo Gibbs.
Good night, friends!

Thank you for your visit.

  2. A good soaking right about now will really boost our gardens. My rain barrels are pretty much empty.

  4. Agreed, your drawing looks great! I still draw stick people! :) haha. It's tough when your kids, grandkids are going through tough times and you just want to fix it for them. Got a couple here too...:(
