Quiet Day Off

 The Ridge

On Wednesday, (hump day) June 4th I was awake when the clock read 6:20. Gibbs was beside me and Bill was downstairs eating breakfast. That was a good sleep with fresh air wafting through the screened window beside me. I usually pull the darkening screen blind down especially when the wind is coming directly from the west, as it was. It was just enough filtering through to keep me in slumber all night.

Good morning!
Last night, the sun was still smoky.

I did my exercises in bed and gave Bill his goodbye send off before we crawled back under the covers until 7. Gibbs was playful and went under the covers for attention. Before I go further, I apologize for the inconsistency of my font in these blog posts. I was typing directly into Blogger and yet it still changes size on its own, before and after pictures. Duh! Today, it wasn't even opening properly so here I am back on OpenOffice Writer.😏

Gibbs in a couple of his many
forms.

It was a clear sky, kind of. A bit of a hazy sun to start, actually, but it was to be a nice hot day with the occasional strong winds that could possibly bring in a thunderstorm later this evening. A bit of rain will be nice overnight but still warm. This is the weather we've been waiting for, the heat, I mean. I had my tea and Gibbs and I went outside for a walkabout. It has been a long time since I've been able to sit outside at 8 am in a tank top! Since Arizona.💓

A few shots around the Ridge
after checking for mail.

After my plants were checked and online games played on my phone, we came in and I vacuumed the Suite. Gibbs kept full and well out of harm's way. 😅 I couldn't remember if M needed me today, tomorrow or at all this week so I messaged him at 9:45. The answer was 'not until Friday' so even though I had no where to go, I got out of my sloth clothes and got washed.

This morning, I woke up reflecting on a conversation the Golden Girls (Pat, Dot and I) had over lunch on Monday. As much as I know how to record daily bank transactions, there are things in Bill's Quicken program that I am not yet comfortable with. That took me to his laptop to teach myself (a lesson!). Any questions I had, I wrote in my notepad to ask him tonight, closed the laptop and we went outside for a leg stretch and a sit in the shade.😌

Bill was cutting the berm

Gibbs has been chasing Chippy every time he gets too close for comfort and I chuckle because I know he'll never catch him. It is part of my daily entertainment. We came in at noon for lunch and since it worked so well yesterday, I made up a similar cold plate. I've been watching a video about how good fermented foods are for our gut-brain health so was happy I'd bought sauerkraut on Monday. My sisters have always told me this. :)

I just finished eating when Bill came up the lane. It was a short day for one reason or another and he ate his sandwich across from me. Now was as good a time as any so we discussed the banking things I was concerned about, leaving me feeling much better about how to handle things – just in case. Bill and Gibbs had their snooze and I read a bit before starting my blog.

Gibbs went for water,
er, I mean we all went for water.

We all went outside and Bill hopped on the Cub Cadet and cut the berm. Already, the grass needed a trim. Gibbs and I walked down to get the mail and all that was in the mailbox was the Home Hardware flyer.

This is where we get our water.
D & G's Landmark rv is at the back of the property.

He ran around a bit and then wanted to sit
in the truck until we were finished.

We sat in my lawn recliner until he was finished and then we all piled in Black Beauty to go get water from the Acreage. Donna and Gerry were there, working on insulating their new bunky but after we got our water, we headed for home.

Things are pretty green already
but the rain is welcome.

The procedure once we get back.
Before the rain.

That was 3:30 and the rain was expected around 4:30. Bill had to seek shelter under the Suite's nose while the bladder emptied into our fresh water tank. It didn't stop raining the whole time but it did slow down off and on.

That was when Bill noticed
our first Mrs. Yertle digging.
Unfortunately, after an hour and a half,
she just left a hole. There were
3 turtles up here tonight after
not seeing any all spring.

For supper, I had planned tacos and salad. Bill was on board and we were eating by 6:00 and cleaned up soon after. This was a good day, slow and easy and warm. The rain was welcome, it meant I didn't have to water. We reached a high of 29C/84F today.😀

These tacos were very messy BUT
delicious!
Good night!

Thank you for stopping around!

  1. Your laneway makes for a great walk to the mail box! Everything is so nice and green!
Like seeing Bill on the riding mower - I had a red one when younger in Minnesota and had to mow. Tacos are always good :))

    1. Yes, it is a nice walk. Not near enough to keep me fit but a nice walk all the same!! :)
I need to hop on and learn to ride it. Never have.

  3. Gosh, I wish we could get some rain. The clouds have threatened the last couple of days but nothing beyond a few drops.
Glad you had a quiet day, it is nice to be able to just relax a bit. Life is busy! And like Gibbs chasing Chippy, I never seem to entirely catch up. :)

    1. I'd be happy to share if that were possible. My veggies perked up a lot over night with the rain so I won't grumble.
Thank you, a quiet day is always appreciated. Yes, Maebeme, I believe you are like Gibbs chasing an impossible critter! :)
