The Ridge
On Tuesday, June 24th, I woke up at 5:23 (yes, exactly!) and Bill and Gibbs were just getting up to go out. I rolled over and realized it was another great night of sleep. Bill had left the a/c up in the bedroom on, set around 78F so it didn't come on often, but apparently enough for us to sleep well.

Good morning! I missed Mr. Goldfinch but the Mrs. stopped by. I need to fill the feeders again, which reminds me that I need more seed!
After he left for work an hour later, I lazed in bed until a few minutes before 7. I had no plans until 10 so Gibbs and I went outside on the patio with my tea. My veggies seem to have come back to life, they were pretty wilty yesterday. π I filled the watering cans for later.
I also covered them with a netting to keep the heat of the sun off them for a while. There was a lovely breeze and I enjoyed the fresh air, before the day heated up again. Seems no matter where I put the bags, they get more than the required 6 hours of sun.

Woops! We forgot to turn the dishwasher on last night. so it was full enough to run this morning.
I hopped in Black Beauty at a few minutes to 10 and picked M up for his run. It was shorter today, less stops, and I was back home just after 10:30. Before I left, I had some upsetting news by email. Not terrible but our VRBO reservation for Ladyfest has been canceled by the host. Due to some new city ordinances.......hmmm.
Back to the drawing board, Donna and I searched and she found another suitable place. In September, there are lots still available for us. πThis new place is a condo and looks quite nice too. We all look forward to our outing, together for 4 days.

The little hanging decor I made for Dot. Gibbs on the bottom, Caper next, flowers and a strawberry (Dot loves them) and her miniature pony on the top. I can wait to meet her!
I had some lunch and then Gibbs and I had a visitor! I (we) hadn't seen Dot since Friday the 13th so I invited her over for a visit. Gibbs was beside himself and sat on her lap the whole time. I was #2 all of a sudden. π We gave her the gift I made for her, with Gibbs' supervision, and she loved it! I'm glad. π

Gibbs wasted NO time at all hopping into her truck.
When she was ready to leave, the little bum hopped in her truck! I don't know how far she would have gone before his whining drove her back because Mom was still home........but I didn't want to know either!! Ha ha We sat and watched her leave, all the way down the lane. It was a fun visit.

....and he waited.
I didn't do any quilling today, instead I sat and rested with Gibbs (the little traitor) and played my games. Bill was home just after 4 and we discussed our day, Gibbs told him about his visitor and that Caper didn't come this time. π

We waited while Dot got in her truck and pulled out.
Supper was after Bill's shower, I'm sure that felt great, sausages on a bun with the last of the strawberries for dessert. Very filling and tasty. With his lunch made, egg salad this week, my sweetie went out to hop on the mower. The fields are not up to Bill's standards.....darn weeds!

If Gibbs hadn't gone to her, I wouldn't have even noticed. She didn't finish, just left a small dent in the grass.
This has been another hot day, 29C/85F, and a cooler, more comfortable evening and overnight. We won't need the a/c, windows will be open. Yay, back to a bit more 'normal' temperatures again. I hope your day has been fun too!

How true! Except for me, it's tea. π Good night!
Thank you for popping around!

I WISH I could set my AC at 78. I am in FL and burning up! lol. My bill will be outrageous this month, but I don't care one iota!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful day!
That is exactly the right attitude in my mind! We earned these decisions and deal with the fallout (if any) later (Manana)
DeleteUmmm I'm guessing Dot has some delicious treats at her house! LOL Next time just tell the VRBO folks that you are meeting your sisters. Don't say why. That sounds crazy to me.
ReplyDeleteDot dotes on all the dogs and Gibbs loves it when she comes. Of course, Gibbs loves it when anyone pays attention to him, right? You know that!!
DeleteNot sure I understand what you mean about the VRBO, it's the city of Collingwood that has changed something and the host/owner had to cancel all her reservations for the upcoming months.
It is amazing how much bird seed you can go thru. I think I must be feeding a million birds, most of them rascally little finches. No grosbeaks yet this year, but somebody is eating the sunflower seeds. Probably the woodpeckers who hang upside down on the feeder. Don't see how they get any seeds that way, but they do.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I know who are the big eaters here though, the grackles and red-wing blackbirds. Wish they would stay away and let the finches, chickadees and wrens get in there more often.
DeleteAt least it's a little cooler today.
ReplyDeleteBingo! It is and quite nice.
DeleteWe have been visited mostly by Cowbirds and Grackles who are regular piggies when it comes to the birdseed. All out now and will get some more later on, perhaps if we don't fill the feeder for a couple of days those greedy birds will find another place to eat.
ReplyDeleteWe are warming up once again so that is a nice change. I will be watering my plants tomorrow.
God bless.
Yes, it is grackles and red-wing blackbirds that are the piggies here. My feeders are empty now but they will be the first ones back when I fill them. I'm also in need of more seed.
DeleteGlad you are warmer now. We're expecting rain tomorrow so hopefully a good dumping for the plants.
