The Ridge
On Saturday, June 7th when I woke up it was 6:35 already. I remember saying to Bill last evening that I hoped to get into the laundromat early, by 7, since it was a bit of a busy day. Hah! Well, by the time I got up, Bill met me upstairs and began washing, then sorting clothes. It was a beautiful blue sky out there and although some wind was forecasted, he was heading out to fly. π

Good morning!
They look pretty but we have
to move them to put the big tv up.
Such hardships, eh? π
It has been a long time since we've woke up to such a lovely start to our day. We didn't have many dirty clothes, mostly Bill's, which indicates it was warm enough all week for me to wear the same shorts and a couple of tees to get by. I like that! The Mat had 4 customers from the time I arrived to the time I left, all regulars but one I've never seen before. He was in and out only to dry his clothes and not a word.

I had a decision to make.
Surprisingly, I liked them all on me
so I made a choice for sun exposure. π
Ron, the maintenance and garbage guy, was in and together we pulled a non-working machine out to unplug it. It was making an obnoxious beeping noise (I said that I hoped that was the worse I had to deal with all day!), quite annoying for anyone coming and going. The Mat looked great when I left with our basket of dried and folded clothes. No point in hanging them today since I wouldn't be home to bring them in later.

Eek! Hey, I'm not proud.
Have you ladies ever tried these masks?
This is an Avon brand and I thought I'd treat myself.
They never fit right but after 20 minutes,
my face felt great!
From there I drove to Home Hardware to pick up one of the gift items I saw the other day. Before heading home, I went up the hill to the Anglican Church indoor garage sale. I went last year and it is all by donation. Of course, I found a few things and dropped $10 in their cashbox. Maybe I'm cheap, but I do what I can and they are appreciative of anything.

Gibbs stayed downstairs while I showered.
The bottom right is when he saw me with
the mask on. ππππ
Says it all, right?
On the way in (& out) I couldn't past the lovely aroma of their lilac bushes right at the step entrance. I know it is good to snip lilacs so, of course, I did! Furry Gnome included a lovely poem about that a while back. Not sure if I saved it or not but it was an inspiration to stop and pick lilacs when and where I can. π Then I scooted home to Gibbs and we walked about up here on the Ridge.

A few snaps from the party
All candid so no smiles.
Chippy was teasing, running around under the Suite, driving Gibbs crazy so I encouraged Gibbs inside with me by offering him a Greenie. Works every time. I don't want Chippy in a compromised position, and there are places for him to hide but for how long? We don't know what he'd do if he caught one but even if it was for play, he could possibly hurt him, accidentally. I don't want that.

| Carol and Brian's twin boys were the chefs today. Awesome steak, chicken and dogs were on the menu along with delicious roasted potatoes. Yum! |
I put my clothes away, made a coffee and then pulled out 3 spring dresses to choose from for today's outing. I can wear shorts anyday of the week so it was time to spruce it up a bit by wearing one.π So, I decided and then hopped in the shower before getting back into shorts. It wasn't long after that when Bill pulled up the lane.

The 1" thick steak was delicious!
Great food!
We had lunch together and he and Gibbs laid down for a snooze. I went out to work on the puzzle for a bit until it was time for him to get up and get ready. It didn't take me long to get dressed, pack our cooler bag and the gift. Dot is going to keep an eye on Gibbs today for us, again (she's a godsend!), and we are driving to Sebringville to celebrate Bill's sister and her husband's 50th anniversary.π

The guests of honour and
Marilynne, 'our' step mom (in law for Brian and I)
That's worth celebrating! Quite a few had arrived already and when Carol and Brian walked down the street to their son's home, they were surprised. They were expecting to meet the kids for supper and then they saw the banner out front. Hmmm. It was a great afternoon. Their 3 children threw a wonderful gathering, and a terrific barbecue.

Carol and Brian open cards and gifts
and dance to a Chicago tune.
Not sure if this was their wedding dance,
I missed that.
A pool for the little ones (& adults if they chose) and plenty of food for everyone. We ended the fun around 8 pm and got pictures with the honoured couple and Bill's other sibling. It was even nice driving home, in the 'daylight', so to speak, as the sun was going down as we made our way east. Carol and Brian enjoyed the homemade card and the tree of life wall hanging we got them as well as their other cards and gifts. π

Cory and Shelley took pictures
of the day and this one is
Bill with his sisters, Carol and Liz
and us in-laws. ππ
We weren't home long and Dot popped over to check on Gibbs. She was surprised to see us home and Gibbs was thrilled to see her. He couldn't understand this afternoon why she wasn't taking him in her truck to go to his 'second' home, but she had three other dogs over there, two that just may not get along with our little guy or visa versa. Kyle, her son, didn't get out to take theirs home. π

Bill spotted the sun dog on our drive home
and then the smoky sun turned red
before it disappeared.
Good night!
I'm tired and after Bill saying hello to Mike, who had arrived this afternoon, I came in, worked on my blog and went to bed by 10. The 2 Caesars might be a bit of the cause of that! It was a perfect day in our neighbourhood. We reached a beautiful high of 25C/75F and although windy on the Ridge, perfect in the small hamlet of Sebringville.
I hope you all had a wonderful day too and thank you to Dot, for allowing us to take part in these events without any worry at all.
Thank YOU for stopping by.

I've never used a facial mask but my daughter swears by them. I laughed at the side-eye from Gibbs. He wasn't sure what was happening to his mom. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your SIL/BIL! Fifty years togethers is a great accomplishment. How fun that is was a surprise party for them.
I don't use the masks often but I have a few from a while ago that sometimes I get in the mood. Gibbs made me laugh but you're supposed keep a straight face while wearing the mask! hahaha
DeleteThank you, the 50 years and the party were great for them!
Happy 50th to Carol and Brian! Looks like an amazing party for them! Dot sounds like a wonderful lady, caring about Gibbs! I like all three dresses! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Shirley. It was a great party. Dot is such a dog lover, she adores Gibbs.
DeleteI like the dresses too so it was hard to choose!
Beautiful gathering ❤️.
