One Day at a Time - Maybe Tomorrow?

London, Ontario

On Wednesday, Apr. 15th I woke from a good sleep but my legs were feeling a bit chilled. I'd only brought our flannel sheets over from the Suite and one chenille bedspread. So, Bill was up at 5:30 and turned the fireplace on. We have no propane in here but we do have power.

Good morning!
These are last night's
sunset pictures.

The unit warmed up nicely and it helps that the outside temperature was still mild and warming up by the hour. It rained heavily through the night, Bill said, and there are puddles as evidence.

We went inside CanAm for a fresh coffee and tea and finished the last 2 donuts for breakfast. At least they are out of the way now! Bill was in and out of the shop a couple of times trying to get a feel for when things might be finished. It was around lunchtime that we learned it would not be today. 😓

Much of the afternoon was like this.
This is looking northwest.

We had bread, butter and cheese here in the Ember so made ourselves a sandwich. Supper would be another expense so we save where we can. Gibbs and I went for a walk and the front grass area is sopping wet so we have to steer him to a higher, drier spot for his business.

I played more games, did some eye exercises (how I'd love to get rid of glasses!) and made a couple more Worry Worms. We chatted with Gerry and heard Donna in there as well. Nice to hear their voices.

Looking south towards the
storm and winds.
These rv's are getting a nice wash!

We spoke to our insurance company about coverage for the work being done but the damage does not qualify. We had already figured that would be the case because we can't pinpoint what caused the problem, but it was worth a try.

Like yesterday, we just hung tight in the little Ember. There were sporadic sprinkles of rain and yet more were coming later so Bill and I took some items inside to the Suite, swapped out some clothes for tomorrow and I made a cup of tea with their Keurig.

When we left the lot, we
drove through a huge 'puddle'
across the lane.

Sure enough, we were back in the trailer around 4ish and the rain started, heavy at 4:30. There are warnings of very strong winds coming across from Cleveland towards Leamington, Ridgetown and St. Thomas, along the lake. I hope everyone is prepared for this. I hate wind!

The news inside was that our Suite would be ready in the morning, so that is great for us. We are more than ready. Nipping out to pick up supper at Timmy's (yes, a duplicate from the other day) could be a challenge so we waited until the rain had abated and around 6, drove back to Tim Horton's in Lambeth.

I think this is my favourite.
Herb and garlic cream cheese,
bacon and mozzarella.

This time, I got the Bacon Everything Flatbread Pizza for a change. Oh my goodness! They have a winner with both these pizzas. Two meals for $7.99, sold! It was just as yummy. Bill had his Supreme Stack sandwich, loaded with roast beef slices, bacon and cheese.

From there, we drove to another friends' home. We haven't visited Helen and Gary for a number of years, but Bill has bumped into his fellow flier a few times at the Forest City Flyers field just down the road from us here. It was a great visit for over an hour and the stop was well worth it. 💖

Gary and Helen
long time friends

Back home, just as darkness was descending over us and it was still mild at 8:30. Gibbs looked after the 'temporary' house really well with Miss Piggy. I finished my blog, and it wasn't long after 9 that I planned my nighttime retreat to the bedroom.

Back at the Ember,
Gibbs indicated he wanted to go to bed.
He needs to be boosted up, it
is so high.

This was a mild, wet day of 22C/71F and the same overnight, warm and wet and 13C/55.4F.

So, 2 years ago, we were in this same
spot on Apr. 15th, 2024.
Almost the same sunset.

Good night!

Thank you for your visit. Home tomorrow..........yay!
