The Ridge
It was before 7 on Sunday, May 3rd that Gibbs and I got up to greet the day. He'd already been up and out at 6:30, so of course had to shower me with kisses and hugs. It is quite challenging some mornings getting my stretches in with a little lug to contend with. 😍

Good morning!
So, while Mom and Daddy worked,
Gibbs was lacking attention.
What better way to get Mom to chase
you but to take her jacket?
Little imp.
I came down to join Bill and wish him Happy Anniversary. Yes, 29 years today, at precisely 3 pm this afternoon. He'd bought me a card and I didn't reciprocate. I didn't even make one for today but he knew that. He picks the best cards for me on our anniversary!

Back on duty, all innocent
as can be.
💕
I had some oatmeal for breakfast with my tea and then got the vacuum out. Our floors were badly in need of attention. With that done, I got dressed and Gibbs and I went outside. I wanted to get my bird feeders out before the rain this afternoon, especially the oranges and hummingbird food.

The periwinkles are blooming
but I'm still waiting for the
daffodils.
Then Bill and I, under constant supervision, cleaned up the cut logs from the 3 apple trees. There is more to do from the broken branches but this is a start.

New garlic bulbs planted. I'm excited!
Donna gave me 9 garlic bulbs from her garden yesterday so I planted them up on the hill as well. With the impending rain, they will be happy. I've never grown it before so a treat!

Bill is happy to get back on his Cub Cadet.
Bill used the mower and wagon for us to load the wood in and then carried on and cut the grass up here, and in the dry parts of the front and back fields. It is growing so fast and he wants to get a handle on it. We had lunch at noon and he and Gibbs had their snooze.

We wasted no time filling
the trailer.
Robin is away but has given us permission to use her and Andrew's big trailer to cart the brush away with. She is good to us, even in her absence. When my boys got up, we drove to her place to pick it up. We can load it over the coming week for a dump drop on the weekend.

Kettles, a very busy establishment.
We both had our showers after Bill went next door to get a bladder full of water from Dot and Gord. At 4, we left Gibbs in charge and drove to Kettles near Owen Sound for supper. Time for a treat where neither of us has to cook.

Too much coleslaw but it was good.
A different way to serve chicken,
it was very good!
It was very busy, as usual, but our 15 minute wait went quickly enough. I had the Kettles Grilled Chicken with mushrooms, onions and mozzarella on top. It was quite tender and good. Bill had fish and chips.

Happy 29th Anniversary to us!
When we asked the waitress to take a picture for us, for our anniversary, she brought us a large piece of pie of our choice to take with us. That was very nice of her and I chose strawberry cream. We drove home in light rain and it reminded us of our wedding day. It wasn't a very warm day then either.

Strawberry cream pie. We split it for dessert.
Bill made his lunch at home and we watched tv for the evening. It was a good day and we did manage to get the trailer loaded with branches. 🤭 We reached 12.22C/54F today and only dropping to 6.66C/44F overnight.
