The Ridge
It was nice to see clear skies when I opened my eyes on Sunday, May 17th. I knew we were in for a nice day here. I had plans to plant my dahlia bulbs and Bill carried out his plans to go flying. He was hooked up last night to his cargo trailer with batteries for planes charged.

Good morning! Last night's sunset didn't let me down.
This would be his first time so I knew he would be gone for the morning. I fought to get my voice working this morning although my throat was feeling pretty good, just phlemy and the constant trying to clear it. After Bill said goodbye and left, Gibbs and I did our stretches and came down.

My dresses from Temu. Perfect fit, less than $10 each and I'm very happy with them.
As much as I would have loved to go out and sit with my tea, I knew better. The blackflies were out in full force. So, we sat inside and at 9 went out to plant my dahlias. I was garbed in long pants, light jacket and my netted 'tilly-style' hat. They were all around my face!
I leave a bag full of the bulbs, dug up last fall, with Donna. They are in such large clumps that it takes muscle (haha) to break them apart in smaller groupings. This year, I found new locations and will see how that goes. I hope they do well because I like the idea of how they'll look.

I was happy to get into shorts and a tee and get the darn hat off. It was very warm, just how we like it but I had to go into the shelter of the Bunky. Gibbs didn't seem bothered but when we came inside to change, he had 2 nestled in his long hair. Buggers!

Of all the bushes and trees, this is the only one with pink blossoms.
I worked on the puzzle until noon and made another poached egg. I'm hooked on these but I only have one 'really good' egg left. 🤠I went back to the puzzle and Gibbs was happy to stay indoors. He came out again before Bill got home around 1:30.

While waiting for Bill,
we braved the blackflies.
He still barks but 'sits and stays' well until the vehicle is parked - if I am persistent. It was around 2:30 that Mike drove in. He was slow, obviously waiting for the geese to cross. Good thing we have signs up at the road! Bill helped him get set up and went to the Acreage to get hin a bladder of water.

When Bill went to the Acreage
to get water for Mike's trailer,
Gibbs waited on 'his' hill to wait.
It's nice that he has a place to go on a weekend. We have an extra Amazon firestick that we give him when he comes so he'll be good for the night. I stayed inside after saying hello and worked on the puzzle. I didn't want to share this cold.

I planted dahlias in this new corner
that I created a few weeks ago.
I hope they grow, they'll look good here.
Seems I'm good for the morning and then late afternoon, I get worse. For supper, for lack of any bright ideas and abition to make much, we had omelettes and toast. Bill was perfectly fine. Tomorrow, I'll pick up buns for burgers when I'm in to clean.

He has a perfect view of the laneway.

My waiting spot is at the puzzle.
I hope our fellow Canadians are enjoying their long weekend too.

Supper, simple and good.
Good night!
Thank you for stopping in.
