Having Too Much Fun? Gibbs and Friends

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Feb. 12th Bill and I both were up and moving by 7:15, him first of course, and after he was out of the shower, I was in. Not enough room for two of us at a time! (Well, if were younger…….) 😊 Anyway, that’s just TMI.

Good morning!

I tried a different approach this morning before I got up and only used the tennis ball technique. Laying with the ball directly under the part of my body that was hurting. I wasn’t too bad for the morning but wasn’t going to push my luck by walking anyway. After Bill left for his club meeting around 8, I finished my tea and got ready for my morning.

I took Gibbs for a quick walk before
Coffee hour. Poor little bum, he was confused.
"But, Mom????"
I made up for it after lunch.

There wasn’t a lot of time to walk the little bum but we took the garbage over, met with Bette, Annie & Della, and did a very short jaunt. I took my water and purse over to the clubhouse a few minutes past 9 for Coffee & Snacks. Sue has been under the weather for a few days so Angie, one of the hosts, stepped in and made a yummy fruity cakey dessert. 😊

Then it was time for class.
Yay!
These are the ones I love.
The others you'll see another time after the
'tweaking'

Jess and I left around 9:35 for Desert Camel and another fun class. I look forward to these classes as much as I do our poker games. She had 6 participants, 2 newbies to quilling. It seems the newcomers always put us ‘oldcomers’ to shame with how quick they pick it up, no matter what the game/craft. Today, we made earrings, 2 pair and I will be tweaking the second pair since I wasn't paying attention and used switched my colours up. They just aren't attractive. However, I love my first pair.

Then it was play time.
Gibbs and Annie on the right.
Della, on the left, is indifferent to the whole
'play' thing.

Linda, someone I look forward to seeing, asked if she could join us for Poker Pool……..so I invited her! Whether she attends, we’ll see. She’d be a hoot! We were home by 12:30 (ish) and Bill had our sandwiches. There was leftover taco spiced ground beef with shredded cheese so I heated that and slapped it between two slices of seeded keto bread. Oh my! I wish I had more leftover!

Who's chasing who?

Bill had been busy all morning with his meeting and they all helped set up for the Fun Fly event on Saturday at the field. That meant it was snooze time. Gibbs stretched out under my chair and dozed so rather than disturbing them, I started my blog. Bette and I met around 2:00 with the 3 dogs and we walked down to the dog park. Annie and Gibbs always want to play when on leash so this was a test.

The winds picked up and the clouds had rolled in
this afternoon.

Sure enough, it was more sniffing for P-mail than anything else but Bette and I did get those 2 to chase each other around for some fun. 😊 After that fun, I walked over to see what I could do on the puzzle and a few minutes later, Karen and her sister, Mary, came in for a couple of games of pool.

Hard to see but the animals are filling in
much better now.

They joined me to put some pieces in until 4:30 and it was quite enjoyable working together, finding the animal parts and pieces. 😊 They are from Ontario, well, originally. Mary has moved out west, I think. For supper, Bill deep fried French fries, I air fried Alaskan Pollock filets and cooked my squash in the microwave. It was all ready at the same time (how did we do that?) and was very good!

This was a nice supper and filling too!

This has been a nice day. I’ve kept busy and even got a few chapters of my book read before meal time. We reached a decent 67F/18C today with a bit of wind but our overnight will only drop to 53F/11C which is lovely! One more day in the high 60’s and we’ll be on a streak of hot weather. Just when our family and friends back home and western Canada are getting hit with 3 winter storms. Brrr! Not to be selfish, but I’m very grateful to be where we are.

I think all of us were tired tonight!
Good night, sweet dreams!

Thank you for your visit today.

Busy Morning, Getting Back to our Happy Hours

Park Place RV Park

On Sunday, Jan. 5th Bill was up at 5. He said that we had no power as our alarm clock light was not displaying on the ceiling and the Suite was dark. Our batteries were charged to a decent 13.5 last night so we didn’t connect to power and left the inverter on. Hmm, not sure what used the power but he rectified it by switching us on, checked batteries and then returned to bed. Well, to his recliner. 😊

Good morning!

Gibbs was up at 6 to go out and I followed at 7 to start with the laundry process. We loaded 2 machines and returned to the Suite. While he readied to go flying, I played my morning Wordle games and then dressed for my walk. At the 25-minute mark, I walked over to switch clothes from washers to dryers and then carried on from there for my walk. It usually takes me 30 minutes, tops, and true enough, I was back to wait the last 15 minutes it took for the dryers.

I started the Garden Birds puzzle from Nancy.
It is 500 pieces and should be a fun one to work on.

Back home, I made my tea and had a bowl of cereal. I was quite hungry! Then it was Gibbs’ turn, so we went for his walk. It was longer than normal and we were still parading along N. Riggles Ave. when Bill and Duncan returned to the field. A hello and goodbye, as it was my turn to relax. I felt like I’d been go-go-going since I woke up. Hmm, I guess I was! 😊

We went to Tyson Wells after lunch.
Things are picking up in 'vendor/tent city'
Check out the next photo to see what Duncan and Patty
are looking at.

I moved the desert puzzle to the side and began a Garden Birds puzzle that Nancy gave me to work on. I’m saving the train one for when she returns so we can work on it together. I made good progress; this is only 500-pieces so shouldn’t take too too long. I may have to eat my words on that! I returned home at noon to have lunch with Bill and we discussed the afternoon. He wants to go to Tyson Wells and I think I’ll tag along.

It is a homemade Rock Tumbler.
If you've got $1000 burning a hole
in your pocket, it's yours!

After my boys had their snoozes, we invited Duncan and Patty along. As it turned out, they were thinking the same thing so they drove instead. Our friends, Jess and Jessie have found themselves with colds so asked if I could pick up some meds for them while in town. Aaah, hope they feel better soon. We walked T.W. and picked up a few things, here and there. It is starting to get busy, of course it is a Sunday, but more vendors appear each week.

Bill and Gibbs waiting for Happy Hour
to begin.

Back home, Gibbs and I walked and dropped the meds off at J & J’s home. Then it was time for Happy Hour in the gazebo. Bill and I enjoyed a Seagram’s cooler and D & P joined us. The air got cool around 4:30 so I had to break up the ‘party’. We turned our power back on and I started the package of pork shoulder pieces in Madame IP. On the side we had fried potatoes, sprouts and corn and boy was it good! That’s the best that pork has turned out! 20 minutes cook, 6 minutes release and I made a gravy from the drippings.

This pork was soooo tender.
These little pieces cooked up perfectly.

We each had an ice cream cone for dessert and settled in for the evening. I found it to be a coolish day today, thanks to the wind, but no, we’re not complaining. I think we reached around 69F/20C at its peak. This has been a good day, things got done and maybe tomorrow I’ll try and bake something. Hmmm.

A couple of memory pictures
from our first year.

Clemson loved Pat and visa versa.💕
Some pictures just make you smile.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping around.

One More Full Day, The Other Side of the Family

The Ridge

On Saturday, Sept. 14th I woke up in my own bed at 5:30 when I heard Bill taking Gibbs out. 😊 That was much earlier than it has been this past week and after having a hard time dropping off last night, it was too early! I got up at 7:30 as I wanted to wash my hair this morning. After making my tea and having a banana for breakfast, we left Gibbs in charge at 9 and left the Ridge.

Good morning!
We had an early start to a full day.
We left in 2024 but wait............did we drop back in time?
Cute car in front of us.

Today, we’d been invited out to a mid-afternoon meal by my mom-in-law, Marilynne, who lives in Fort Erie. Bill’s 2 sisters, his step-sister and their hubbies were all invited as well. It is a 3 hour drive to a very traffic congested area, near the US border of New York but she wanted to treat us and see Bill and I before we left in October. So, knowing it was to be another long day, we arranged with Dot to keep an eye on Gibbs again today. She was only too pleased to oblige.

A few photos of our drive.
The fog over Hamilton, we thought it was smog.
The Burlington skyway on the left and clouds, on the right,
took over the sky.

I love Hamilton's water tower.
Bottom photo is our destination today.

The day was a beaut; sunshine with a high of 27C/87F was the forecast. It was shortly after 12 noon when we arrived at her apartment and had a cocktail with snacks before we all drove to Min Teh.

The restaurant is on the bank of the Niagara River
That is the Peace Bridge to Buffalo, New York.

This is a Chinese restaurant Marilynne suggested and had pre-ordered about 6 different dishes for us to try. Our server set it all on the table beside us and we helped ourselves. Everything was very good and we were all very full when we got up from the table. Yummy!

We were filling our plates before all the serving dishes were
brought out but I made sure to get some of everything. It was all delicious.

Marilynne had asked me to bring my camera and tripod for a family photo so we stepped out behind the restaurant, along the Niagara River (separating Canada from the United States) and took a few pictures of our group. We hugged our goodbyes and Bill and I headed for home at 4. The traffic was busy enough but it was looking much worse coming from the other direction so we considered ourselves lucky. 😊

We arrived home around 7:30 and walked in to a quiet Suite. We did say Dot could take Gibbs to their house to play with Caper if that was easier for her than popping back and forth. You can guess and we knew exactly why we had no one greeting us. We drove next door to find Gord, Dot with Gibbs on her lap, sitting in the garage. It didn’t take long for the little bum to jump off and hop up into Ptooties. I’m so happy they love him and that he enjoys being with Caper too.

We were only the 401 for a short distance
and turned off onto 6 north.
Can you see the traffic on the other side of the
major highway?
Trees are really starting to show their fall dresses.

Back home, Gibbs ate his supper (with some cheese incentive) and Bill and I snacked a bit too. I know a cup of tea at 7:30 is not a great idea but I was willing to risk it tonight. I wanted to stay awake for a while. 😊

He is quite happy to be at their house. 💕

I sat to write my blog and Bill went upstairs to watch a movie. This was a great day and we enjoyed the time with Bill’s family.

Tonight's sunset.

The other three are from Dot and Gord's front yard.
Lovely!
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit too!

Another Busy Day, Gorgeous Weather!

The Ridge

On Wednesday, Aug. 14th I woke up to Bill’s alarm, in my head wondering if that meant he had work today. Turns out, no, another day of them waiting for something to happen at the job site before they can go any further. That is frustrating for all involved, and for Bill since he’s looking at another week of no income. He crawled back into bed and we slept until almost 7 when I got up.

Good morning!

They're ba-a-c-c-k
Haven't had moonflowers for a couple of days
so today, we had 3 to make up for it.
The dahlia beside it has bloomed in brilliant red too.

I did have a couple of jobs today so got ready and left the Suite at 7:15 for the Mat. One regular customer today and we chatted while I cleaned and she did her laundry. I was out of there an hour later and home to see what my boys were up to. Bill was doing some more trimming down by the big dead tree and cleaning up branches as he went. The path he has created will certainly a big help when the time comes to take it down. Gibbs and I helped carry a few. 😊

Bill took us back to the back side of the west pond
and although he sees the turtles on this log a fair bit,
today 'we' (Gibbs) frightened them before I got there.
I'll sneak back another time, I miss seeing them.
This might me favourite pix of the day.

Bill had promised Robin that he would look after cutting their grass at their house when they were away so that’s where he headed next, around 10:30. At 11 or soon after, I gave Gibbs his ‘look after the house’ treat and left for Williamsford. I met Robin’s tenants from the house in Wingham as he was there to cut the grass on that property. When Bill isn’t working, he could have done it, but when she first asked, he was  going to work everyday so has found someone else. Nice kid, probably mid 20’s.

In between my cleaning jobs, we sat outside together.
Notice how Gibbs is sitting in the hollow of Bill's crossed legs?
I heard Bill say "are you comfortable?" He wasn't talking
to me. Gibbs is answering him here, affirmatively. ♥

We couldn’t get the mower running so I drove Ptooties and tried the jumper cables. Finally, he realized the PTO was left on from the last time Andrew cut and he was off and running. I left them to it and went inside to clean. It put me about 20 minutes behind schedule but the guests weren’t due until 4 so I had lots of time to finish. This group of 3 will be staying for 4 nights so I made sure to stock them up on the regulars, tp, Kleenex, paper towels, water and snacks. She looks after her guests.

Her healthy Philodendron was
looking worse for wear after last night's
guests. Booked for 2 but 6 slept there.
She keeps this large Monstera plant
sitting on the old stove for decor.
Today, the pot was tilted, the stove
moved and a couple of support stakes
were out with some broken leaves.
What the?? No children so we wonder
what they were doing?

I rehung a new shower curtain today while she cleans the
other one.
Isn't it pretty?

Coming home through Durham, I stopped for a few of the sale items at Foodland, as the sale ends today. Then a pop in at Robins to drop off the basket of a couple of bedding items. Bill did a great job, their property looks perfect, and they will be very pleased when they come home Friday night. Oh yes, their plans have changed again and I’m picking them up at the airport. Just a reverse of what we did on Monday. 😊

Then we hopped on Jazz.
Perfect way to cool down!

Gorgeous day for a ride.

Back home at 2:30, Bill had just finished showering and wondered if I was up for a Jazz ride. I was very tired and hot too so agreed as the ride would cool us both down. It was great! He headed for Shelburne, thinking an ice cream at Superburger would be the ticket. However, they don’t sell them so we ordered an early supper instead. Burgers again but with fries and onion rings tonight. They were very good and a few rings came home with me. Yummy!

The burger for me, was not as good as my
first one here but the onion rings are the very best!

There was some roadwork in both directions today
but we were in no hurry and they are making great improvements.

And 3 hours later, we were driving into
Priceville, nearing our home on the Ridge.

Just because, it is pretty.

Bill went to the Hangar and I sat with my book for a while. Time for my blog, so at 7:30, I finally sat to do that. It might not be finished until morning, a slack day for me. LOL This has been a good day. We each earned some cash and it was a perfect summer day. We reached a high of 27C/80F with full sun, all.....day.....long.

All is well in someone's world again.
The family is together.
💘
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by!

Still Busy 😊, Happy Birthday!

The Ridge

On Tuesday, July 23rd I didn’t hear a peep until 10 to 7. My boys were quiet or else I was dead to the world. I know I was in the midst of a dream, which was likely the reason. I came down after getting washed and dressed, and when I noticed a few drops of rain on the steps, went out and put the hammock and chair cushions away. We knew there was a chance for rain this afternoon but it could be earlier.

Good morning!
You're going out again, Mom?
This scruffy little man gets a haircut on Friday. 💗

The rain didn’t last and Bill was ready to go to work before me. I gave Gibbs his treat by 7:30 and drove in to the Mat. A couple of customers kept me company, pleasant people. I had a set of sheets from Williamsford to wash and dry for the bnb and when I saw that a washer was jammed full of clothes etc. (since my time on Sunday) I made 3 loads and washed everything.

♪♪"Out in the country" ♪♪

There must be a reason for a young family to do this, lack of money, no vehicle, forgetting because of distractions? I try hard to be sympathetic so when they were washed, I dried and folded everything. It filled a garbage bag to the brim so I put a note in and tied it closed. There were 6 bath/beach towels as well so the ones that weren’t quite dry (and I didn’t want to wait around for) are hanging on our line to dry. It was almost 10 when I got home and had my shower.

Happy Birthday, Donna! 💖💖

Today, is my sister, Donna’s, birthday. I invited her out to lunch so at 11:30 picked her up and drove down the street to Stacked. It is a 7 – 3 pm restaurant (so no dinner menu) that they frequent and enjoy, but Bill and I have not been to yet. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was delicious! The menu offered a lot of great choices so I’ll be sure to get Bill there one day soon.

Yummy. I only ate the half the home fries
but they were delicious too!

The winding hilly way home the back way

I left Hanover after dropping Donna off and made my way to Williamsford. I needed to check on the full dryer load of clothes and return the sheets that I just laundered. I’m glad I went and although I was pleased that everything dried in her dryer, when she said she got a new booking for tonight for 4 people, I knew they’d need some of the towels I was folding. 😊

Getting the mail

I can't help it, I need to
take pictures of what I'm proud of.

I was out of there by 2:30 on my way home and it hadn’t rained yet. Gibbs and I walked to the mail, retrieved a parcel for Bill, and hung outside and in the Bunky for half hour before it started to drizzle. I put him indoors and worked on the puzzle. It has been almost a week since I’ve touched it! I made great progress and I knew that it was the rain that had Bill returning home early. They are working outside today.

It's coming along and fun to do.

We had toasted omelette/westerns for supper, mine in a tortilla and it didn’t bother me a bit having eggs in my menu again. 😊 He enjoyed it very much. We cleaned up the dishes and the sky is darkening up and there is thunder in the distance.

Another nice egg meal.

It has been a wonderful day, making some cash and then spending time with my big sister. She is 4 years my senior yet sometimes, we still feel like children when we’re together.

The floor is the coolest place for him inside.

It got humid today and reached a high of 26C/78F but feeling much hotter. I'm not complaining in the least, and as I type, the rain is watering our plants.  Tomorrow could be a wet day. I hope you are enjoying your summer!

Nothing special to show in the sky tonight
but it will be a nice night for sleeping again.
Good night all!

Thank you for stopping by!
