Coffee Hour, Friends Leave, Quilling Class

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Feb. 5th, I was up at 6:45 and out the door by 7:05. Yes, I decided on my walk today. I’d done my stretches and felt pretty good. Such a lovely morning too, 51F/10C, and I was home before the sun rose. My right leg was tired and starting to ache but by the time I’d made my tea, all was well. Strangest thing. Gibbs and I went for his walk soon after and then I popped in next door to say goodbye to Patty.

Good morning!

Bill and Duncan went flying this morning but in separate vehicles. Bill was staying longer so he and Tommy could begin installing the new flag poles. 😊 Duncan would fly and then get home to finish packing up. I went to the Coffee Hour for about 30 minutes, oh that cake was so good! There were 12 of us in attendance this morning. Our neighbours/friends pulled before 11. And then Jess and Jesse picked me up for my quilling class.

The indecision returns

He's thinking about shade, I know it.

There is some over there so that is where
he is headed.

Jess had 8 participants, including her husband, Jesse. He’d not taken a class before, at least to my knowledge, so withstood a bit of teasing from the other ladies about being the ‘teacher’s pet’. He took it like a champ! Today we made Valentine cards, so I’m not showing a picture of mine. Quite a few of us left with an incomplete creation, we ran out of time, but came home with a few tools to finish the job. I’m all set up with what I’ve bought so I was pleased that I’d done that over the last few weeks.

The horseshoe pits are ready

The day is warming up nicely. Bill and I had lunch and he went over to Jim’s Hangar. More airplane business. Gibbs and I sat outside for a while, on the shaded patio and then went for his walk. I noticed the horseshoe pit is now complete and Michael (Bette’s son) and another man were already playing. Good job, Michael! Maybe I’ll toss one before we leave. 😊

These were our options
today or a combination of both
or whatever we wanted.
Jess showed us the techniques of each card
and left us to it.

I started cooking turkey pot pies for supper, we’ve picked up a few from our last Walmart shop. We enjoy them with a vegetable on the side. It was a good meal. After the little bit of clean up, we watched a movie together called Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny. We like her personality.

Sitting outside waiting for Daddy

We reached our high today of 81F/27C with clear blue, sunny skies. The wind remained under 5 mph the whole day and we loved every minute of it. This was a great day.

A delicious meal.
Good night.

Thank you for popping in.

It’s a ‘Good’ Friday with a Sad Goodbye

The Ridge

On Friday, Aug. 5th it felt wonderful that I didn’t have to get up at any particular time to go to work. 😊 I wished Bill could say the same but just one last day. I still got up around 7 so we could say goodbye before he left for work at 7:30.

Then Gibbs and I went for a nice long walk. We turned right at the corner and carried on down the hill to the second residence on the right.

New road, new smells, dontcha know?

It was a nice morning, already quite toasty and I had to remove my long sleeve shirt. There was a lot of dew, everywhere, this morning but I had a plan to cut my area of the lawn before it got too hot.

Some plants are happy up here
Geraniums never let me down

Gibbs and I perused the property before company arrived

I finished my tea inside and played my Wordle and Phrazle games. I let Gibbs out, off leash, while I got the mower out and within half hour, I had the grass looking spiffy.

It was calm so I later opened up the table umbrella
and put the awnings out
Gibbs and I sat in the shade to cool down

Not mentioning any names, but me sitting down
meant 'can we play catch?'

I’m glad I was able to get it gone so fast but even still, I was sweating up a storm! Gibbs was very good the whole time and didn’t wander farther than my visibility range allowed. 😊 He’s impressing the heck out of me. Once I cooled down a bit, I got cleaned up and chose an outfit for the afternoon Celebration of Life I was going to later. I touched base with Kim and Ken, our expected guests, and at 1:30 drove into Durham.

Patty and Duncan like their new sign
where the Airstream is parked

Ready for the Wilson's to arrive
Woops! I lost a button!

Jamie’s Dad’s memorial was being held at the Durham Cemetery so I made my way there. Early, of course, I found a place to park and seemingly started a trend for where every one else parked. It was hot and I’m glad I took my large Cancun sun hat and wore my lightest sundress. It was sure different seeing Jamie in a suit, when I hugged him I commented on how he cleaned up good. 😊 It was a beautiful yet very emotional goodbye as they laid Jim to rest. Later, at the Legion, his wife, Cheryl, came and sat with me to eat our lunch. I was no longer a party of one.

Driving into the cemetery is beautiful
So quiet, you'd think everyone was asleep 😇

Typical funeral luncheon
So much wonderful food!
I did have dessert but no picture of that!

At 4:15, I said my goodbyes and drove home to greet our company. They were all set up and relaxing under their awning. We began Happy Hour in the shade of our trees by the fire pit and Bill wasn’t too long before he was home and joined us. Nothing says H.H. has to be only an hour and we seem to push that to the max when with our friends. Finally, shortly after 7, after a lot of catch up stories (I’m sure there are more to come!), we parted ways and went ‘home’ for supper.

While we visited at Happy Hour,
Gibbs was on duty

Hello Wilsons!
It's about time you got up here again! 😂

For us, it was sloppy Joe’s on hamburger buns with a cob of corn each. That hit the spot. I knew my blog wasn’t going to get finished when I suddenly felt very tired, sitting at the computer. I guess my couple of drinks had a part to play in that! I was in bed by 10 and dropped off immediately. We’re happy to see K & K again, we’ve missed our get togethers.

The sun dropped like a red rubber ball

Pink was bouncing gently off the fluffy clouds to the southeast

The Ridge campout has begun! Yay!
Good night y'all!

This turned into a fine day and yes it does feel like holidays have begun! Thanks for popping by!

Whirlwind, Last Hugs, Renewing and Making Acquaintances

The Ridge

On Sunday, Nov. 7th, we were up around 7:30, not bad after our late night. We didn’t waste any time nor did we rush. A couple of walks with Gibbs and we left Alma C.C. by 8:30 (after turning our clocks back for DST). We were in for another beautiful day with a high of 15C/59F.

The drive for us was much improved from Saturday, we remembered Gibbs’ bed and he settled down in the back seat with it like the good puppy we know. 😊

The view out behind the Suite

It was a nice walking trail

If you remember, I still had the advent calendars for the grandchildren. I was able to distribute 6 to Bill’s side of the family yesterday at the wedding but still had my 3 in the Suite. Bill planned today’s route so that we could drive past Bridgette and Chris’ home near Woodstock. We parked on the country road and walked up the lane to drop 2 off for her to deliver to Taylor and Jake, if not before Dec. 1st, before Jan. 1st. 😊 That’ll work too!

We almost got in a horse and buggy traffic jam!
I've never seen so many in such a short time period
Church time

settling down nicely with his bed

Still some pretty fall colours

Parked at Bridgette and Chris' place

Cutie Patooties and great hugs
This is Chris who we bought Jazz from
Notice the shirt, hence the treble clef on the Yamaha

The first thing to do once arriving in London, was top up with fuel so we drove to Colonel Talbot Road. Sadly, the Flying M, our usual truck stop, was closed at the pumps. Actually, the pumps were completely gone. Crap! So, we drove back along the flying field road to the east side of town again to the Flying J. Their prices are always just those few cents more, which is frustrating but we needed it. Back to the west, the CanAm parking lot was mostly empty, with the #1 spot across the front wide open.

set up at CanAm

We set up and plugged into power for the night. It was a good start to our day and just mid-morning. I finally was able to sit an work on finishing yesterday’s blog posting, losing all track of time. We hadn’t eaten in the morning so I made us each a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. Bill was out with Gibbs and noticed other rvers with an Airstream down the row and made acquaintance with Duncan and later Patty. 😊 There we go, one of the joys of this lifestyle.

Oreo and Gibbs try to be friends

Keith, our good friend, was at the flying field and popped in to see us once more. He didn’t want us to leave without saying goodbye. Gotta love those hugs! We had a short but pleasant visit with him and Oreo. She met Gibbs and although he was on his leash, making it difficult for a real meet and greet, they did pretty good together. We joined Duncan and Patty after they moved their chairs to the sun for some afternoon warmth.

Nice enough for a step sit

There’s never a challenge finding things to talk about with other travellers. As it turned out, they were storing their ‘new to them’ rv for the winter and picking up their cruising boat in Georgia. They too were debating just how soon to get on the road in the morning. They’ve never rv’d before so were quite interested in the tips and tools of the ‘trade’. 😊

The sun set over Dawn and Michaels rv

As the sun dropped leaving us shade, it cooled down and we parted ways, wishing them good travels from Florida and hopefully the Bahamas if the conditions are good for them.  It was in saying goodbye to them that two other rv’s pulled in and  we were greeted by Wanda and Mike. We first met this couple at CanAm a few years ago, maybe after our first winter south. Bill and Mike have kept in touch by text over the years so they were quite surprised to see it was us in the lot. Funny how things transpire.

Two more Cutie Patooties
Two more hugs

Gibbs got to experience 3 more dogs, Oscar, Jewels and Lucky and we met Dawn and Michael, their travelling companions. What a treat this life is! Patrick, my son, and grandson Nate, arrived around 5 for another short visit. I was tickled that he lives close enough to make that work too. We didn’t unhook BB so the onus was on him to fit us into his day and I’m glad he wanted it too. We visited for a short hour and I was able to hand Nate his calendar. Hugs all around and we chowed down on reheated chili from the freezer.

Gibbs wasn't keen on Oscar's size
even though he was a gentle AussieDoodle

He much preferred Jewels and Lucky

I believe it was 6:15 when Gibbs and I said goodnight to the group outside and came inside for bed. I brought my book upstairs and crawled into bed but Gibbs couldn’t settle down until Daddy came in half hour later. 😊 Momma’s boy, my ass!! I read a few chapters but had to turn my light off shortly after 7:30 and rolled over. It wasn’t difficult for me to sleep at that hour, it had been a couple of whirlwind days. Bill said I was asleep when he turned his light off at 8.

Goodnight Ontario, Canada

Wow! It is truly happening and other than a couple of nasty batches of shingles, basically one right after the other, we’ve have been blessed to have things run smoothly. I’ll try to get on top of my postings but I know you all understand how things are and I value your support. This was another great day!

Two more wedding photos
 Bride and Groom
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit too!

New Park to Us, Our Friends Get Settled Too, Saying Goodbye

Silver View RV Resort, Bullhead City, AZ
On Saturday, Mar. 7th we had to move. Bill and I were happy about that. It was a few things that we experienced, different from our last visit here. Sometimes that is all it takes to make us want to return or do we return simply because of necessity. I’m not taking away from Lake Havasu RV Resort, as it is indeed a nice well-placed campground. This experience just didn’t hit the for us.

Such a pretty last morning sky
Bill and I were up around 6:30 as per our usual and I went for my walk. I walked to the north down London Bridge Road only as far as the Fire Station (is it 'wave to a fireman' day?) and down a short road before heading back home. The L.H. Firemen are having a pancake breakfast so they were busy setting up tables. Returning home, we each had some cereal and got washed up for the day. I should have had a shower but maybe later or tomorrow for sure.

Nice firetrucks, boys!
These 2 volkswagons were at 'Crash'
a restorers business down the street
So, Bob and Jo-Anne were packing up almost the same time as we were and after our goodbyes, they pulled out about 15 minutes ahead of us. Our hookup was easy, as they should be, and I texted Kim that we were leaving the park. Her response was that they were ready and would be at the road watching for us. Our little caravan followed Hwy 95N until we reached Fort Mohave and pulled into the Walmart on the east side. We were ahead of schedule as far as check-ins so stopped there for a meet up and a few food items.

Have fun guys and safe travels!
Bye sweet little Higgins!💓

One last wave as they pulled out
We'll see you guys back in Canada!
Keith was feeling better, although still not 100%. He just needs to push himself to drink more water and has been doing that for a few days now. Some people just can’t drink water the way I do, the way a lot of us do. Bill, for example, just doesn’t care for it unless we are in a restaurant for a meal and he will have a glass of water along with another drink. I need it, daily, often and I enjoy it very much when I’m thirsty.

Heading towards Lone Tree Hill for a last wave at the Hand this season
and to meet Keith, Ken and Kim

Who says a desert is brown?

Still love the views

We catch the Golden Shores turn off
which is the old Rte 66
eventually putting us on Hwy 95 again

This is a nice section of Rte 66 to follow even with big rigs

Ken and Kim could get into Ridgeview at 11 but Keith and us had to wait until noon to check in. We’d never been in this park before so it is all new. We’d heard good things from a few fellow bloggers. Silver View RV Resort is a Coast to Coast park for us but is also Passport America and an open park to the public so Keith was able to book in as well. The weird thing is that their office is at the very back corner meaning you are driving your rig following office signs with NO idea (the first time) what you are getting into.

Coming into Bullhead City
Still no shortage of beautiful views
We found it and were issued a site quickly. What a surprise to find that the sites are huge! Bill had no issue at all getting us in as the lanes were wide enough for some maneuvering. We’d assumed that Keith was going to be one row over in the Dry Camp area where he got offered a rate of $10/night. However, after we were set up, he texted that there was a mix-up (oh brother!) and he was on a site along the ridge looking out over the Valley. We were happy for him as long as they gave him a decent price.

Top and bottom left - Park entrance and our huge site
Right pictures are from Keith's site
What a great view he has!
Bill said he was thirsty and hungry so he had some cheese and a cold pop. I had some cottage cheese and what else? Water. 😊 We sat in our chairs and that was when I remembered I’d had a strange night. I had woken up for some reason at 2:50 am. Figured that I was just warm, it was the first night we’d gone to bed with ALL or 90% of our windows open. Even the little window beside my pillow was up and that is unusual.

Driving into Ridgeview for Happy Hour
We do enjoy this park but not staying here this winter
But even with the duvet down and just a sheet over us, I wasn’t cool so was surprised when I was unable to drop off. I didn’t speak to Bill but I got the feeling that he was also restless, tossing and turning as well. I know I watched the clock tick slowly by until almost 5 and then the next time I saw was 6:30. I was glad to have dropped off again but couldn’t figure out why the night was such an odd one. I’d not slept through the day or had any late caffeine or food to blame it on.

And what a happy Happy Hour it was
We have lots of chatter, laughs and Dave and Cheryl
even provided us with cheese and crackers
Thanks guys!
So, my point is that it explained why we both dropped off so quickly. Me especially, I just don’t do that for such a long time. It was at least 30 minutes before I woke and we discovered that it was almost 2:30. Bill texted Keith to see if he wanted to join us for Happy Hour. We were invited to Dave and Cheryl’s site at Ridgeview RV Resort, 5 ½ miles away. This would be their last day before they move on further north so we didn’t want to miss this last opportunity to see them.

We picked Keith up and headed over, finding them easily, just down the road from where Kim and Ken ended up. The 2 ½ hours went quickly and other than a variety of conversations, Dave offered a ‘possible ‘solution for something Bill has been trying to solve in the Suite. Maybe there is an easy resolve for something this winter! It has been great getting to know Dave and Cheryl this season and we have valued every moment spent with them. Truly wonderful friends.
I had to work hard to capture this proud fellow
so you have to work hard to find him!
The sad part of the whole thing is that we won’t see them again until the fall at the soonest but the good news is that we have something to look forward to again. We wished them safe travels and said goodbye to Kim and Ken as Bill, Keith and I drove back to our park. We dropped Keith off at his site with an invitation to feel free to come to visit when he wanted some company in the evenings. I’m sure the nights are long in his small camper.

After dropping Keith off, this road runner scooted across the road
and then stopped for us to take his picture
Back home, we weren’t hungry yet so sat and read our books. The peace and quiet with no music and no tv were welcome and I delved deep into Grisham’s story. Almost biting nail time that I hated to put it down. However, I had to and at 6:15 I got Madame IP out once more and placed our leftovers in for reheating. I warmed the gravy and cooked mixed veggies in the microwave. We were eating shortly after 6:30.

There was some debate in that sky tonight
The winds were gusty all afternoon, it felt like rain
but turned into a lovely picture instead
Supper was good the second time around and we were impressed that a small 2 lb. roast of beef and 3 potatoes filled us for two meals. Yum and now the leftovers are gone. After dishes, we sat at our laptops while I finished my blog post and Bill updated his blog map.

You've read about my 2nd hand Marketplace Fitbit purchase
Here is what Patrick picked up for me

The seller had them all boxed up in a pretty gift pack
for me
The air outside has cooled down and with windows open, it is slowly cooling the Suite down as well. The skies were looking mighty angry when we came back from HH but I sure got a performance to the west after sunset.

Leftover night looks identical to last night's picture
This has been a nice day. Bob and Jo-Anne have moved on and are settled safely in Williams, AZ not too far from the Grand Canyon south rim. Kim and Ken and Keith are in Bullhead City settled safely. Dave and Cheryl are here as well but moving on tomorrow, with a list of sightseeing things to do on their homeward route. We are also settled safely and we aren’t planning too much this week. Check in later to see what transpires here at Silver View!

Hot darn, that is a pretty sky!
Good night from Bullhead City!

Thank you for stopping by.
