Coffee and Lunch with a Friend.

 Park Place Rv Park

On Wednesday, Mar. 25th I had a date! I had a wonderful sleep, not waking until 6 am but was not in a rush at all. Bill went to the field, just for social time. They are also coming to an end.

Good morning!

Gibbs and I went for our walk within the park and managed to upset Rosy, Anne Marie's pooch, one more time. Not too badly today, I just kept him moving along past the dog park as quickly as possible. 🐾

It was to be another hot day so I chose a summer dress to wear since I was going out for lunch. At a few minutes before 9 I went to the clubhouse and started flipping pieces over and during border pieces of the next puzzle.

This is a really old puzzle
but TK's pictures never grow old.

Sue helped because who doesn't like a Thomas Kincaid picture? Bill joined the last few minutes of coffee hour and left around 10. I finished the border and returned home at 10:30.

Greek omelette and toast.
Yummy!

At 11:30, Erma picked me up and we went to Mountain Quail restaurant on Main. There are always varying reviews on venues, this place is no different. With 2 locations in town, we chose the newest one.

I had the Greek omelette with a piece of sour dough toast.  It was very good! We had a great catchup and exchanged some health tips and travel plans before she dropped me off at home. It was really nice. We vowed to try and do it more often this coming winter.

The sky is pretty clear.
That means it is pretty hot.

I gave him his hat and left him
to it.

Bill had decided to work on the box in the back of Black Beauty. He built it in there to carry his planes back and forth and wanted to see how much he could pack in there. The more that fits there, the less that has to come inside. 😌

Okay now what?
I'll decide tomorrow.

I went to work on the puzzle and left him to it. I began to start on the sky pieces and managed to finish that section. Before I got carried away, I returned home around 3:30 and joined my sweeties. Not much was happening at home so I started my blog.

The view from the clubhouse ramp
That's our Suite, right in the middle.

Supper was tacos and they always fit the bill. However, although they are delicious, they are extremely messy! We cleaned up and watched a movie together. Today, was another hot day. We reached 103F/35C and I longed for the overnight cool down of 67F/18C.

Taco supreme - kind of.
Good night!

This was a good day, I enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by.

Coffee Hour, Friends Leave, Quilling Class

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Feb. 5th, I was up at 6:45 and out the door by 7:05. Yes, I decided on my walk today. I’d done my stretches and felt pretty good. Such a lovely morning too, 51F/10C, and I was home before the sun rose. My right leg was tired and starting to ache but by the time I’d made my tea, all was well. Strangest thing. Gibbs and I went for his walk soon after and then I popped in next door to say goodbye to Patty.

Good morning!

Bill and Duncan went flying this morning but in separate vehicles. Bill was staying longer so he and Tommy could begin installing the new flag poles. 😊 Duncan would fly and then get home to finish packing up. I went to the Coffee Hour for about 30 minutes, oh that cake was so good! There were 12 of us in attendance this morning. Our neighbours/friends pulled before 11. And then Jess and Jesse picked me up for my quilling class.

The indecision returns

He's thinking about shade, I know it.

There is some over there so that is where
he is headed.

Jess had 8 participants, including her husband, Jesse. He’d not taken a class before, at least to my knowledge, so withstood a bit of teasing from the other ladies about being the ‘teacher’s pet’. He took it like a champ! Today we made Valentine cards, so I’m not showing a picture of mine. Quite a few of us left with an incomplete creation, we ran out of time, but came home with a few tools to finish the job. I’m all set up with what I’ve bought so I was pleased that I’d done that over the last few weeks.

The horseshoe pits are ready

The day is warming up nicely. Bill and I had lunch and he went over to Jim’s Hangar. More airplane business. Gibbs and I sat outside for a while, on the shaded patio and then went for his walk. I noticed the horseshoe pit is now complete and Michael (Bette’s son) and another man were already playing. Good job, Michael! Maybe I’ll toss one before we leave. 😊

These were our options
today or a combination of both
or whatever we wanted.
Jess showed us the techniques of each card
and left us to it.

I started cooking turkey pot pies for supper, we’ve picked up a few from our last Walmart shop. We enjoy them with a vegetable on the side. It was a good meal. After the little bit of clean up, we watched a movie together called Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny. We like her personality.

Sitting outside waiting for Daddy

We reached our high today of 81F/27C with clear blue, sunny skies. The wind remained under 5 mph the whole day and we loved every minute of it. This was a great day.

A delicious meal.
Good night.

Thank you for popping in.

Winds Pick Up, Coffee Hour, Pleasant Afternoon

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Mar. 13th we were up with the sun. Well, the sun rose at 6:39 and I was up just about the same time. Needless to say, I missed it. 😊 We had our showers and since Bill wasn’t flying this morning, he took a bit more time getting ready. He did have his last Q.D.F. club meeting at 9 so left in plenty of time for that. The President can’t be late, right?

La Posa South LTVA is looking pretty empty

Gibbs and I walked and with my hoody, only to cover my bare arms, it was almost too warm. I was happy to get it off. Gibbs barks, most of you have heard me say that. He barks at loud voices, vehicles, passersby and well, just about everything. But, he does stop (mostly on command) eventually. Our friends, and his, pretty much know him and if he pulls me towards them, they oblige and give him a pet or two. 😊

Today, we met a man that Gibbs just plain did not like. As a people person, I expected him to bark but then let the stranger pet him and be done with it. Not this guy. He wanted to get close to the man but at the same time – didn’t, and stopped about a foot away. Still barking and growling like I've never heard.

We dropped our cans here
even though the owner wasn't around.

Susan reminded me of their sixth sense or whatever it is – they get a feeling about people and it is usually for a reason. I guess he was trying to protect me.

Flowers in the washes
I've never seen that before.

I decided to join others for coffee hour at 9 today. Something different. I’m glad I did, as I enjoyed the small gathering. It was interesting to meet Brenda, a newcomer to the park, only here for a night but a really pleasant lady. Later, I popped by to give her one of our cards in the event she needs a place to stay in Ontario. She gave me one of hers too. What a cute little ‘home’, Rover, is. She is from New Jersey.

Our water station.
Love the price here.

After lunch with Bill, we drove out to La Posa South to drop off the pop cans we’ve been gathering for a fellow out there who collects them for recycling. They just don’t recycle here, which is strange and yet the reason we see so many cans and bottles along the roadside. Sad, huh? The LTVA is looking pretty bare, compared to the last time we were out. We stuck to the paved road, drove in a bit and turned back for home.

Morning and afternoon progress

I walked over to the puzzle and put in quite a few pieces. Back home at 4, Gibbs and I went for our walk. Today, we walked along the road and on the return trip, I saw these beautiful orange flowers. They were so pretty and shiny that they looked waxed. I used an app, that Sheila told me about, to name them but it was in Latin so I can’t remember. I can’t pronounce those names! 😊

I'll have to go back tomorrow and get
the proper name of these beauties.
Just one clump of them.

I made my cup of tea back home and Gibbs dozed on the floor as I started my blog. Supper is a mixed meal. Liver for me, cooked inside, and a pork chop for Bill, grilled on the Weber. I had some frozen mashed potatoes that I fried up and cooked us each a vegetable. Too bad we don’t like a lot of the same veggies but that is the way it is. The weather today has been lovely although a bit breezy. Those March winds! Our gazebo has been flopping but no need yet to pop the roof down.

The sky was pretty again
this afternoon.

We’ve had a good day. I started my next book by Sue Grafton and it is gripping right from the start. It’s called Friction.

The liver was delicious and the swiss chard
was pretty good too.
Good night!

Thank you for the visit.

Morning Coffee with my Sis, Shopping in Quartzsite, Already!

Quartzsite, Arizona

On Wednesday, Nov. 24th we woke fairly early. Up before the sun for sure, which joined us after 7 am. We had our tea and coffee while sitting at our laptops and, as I made them, listened to the beep, beep, beep of our inverter telling me that the Keurig was using more power than what our batteries had stored up. I don’t fret about it the way I used to; they’ll bounce back. And they did. 😊

Gearing up for a few great photos

It was looking like a beautiful morning so I went out to capture the rising sun. I even focused on a panorama picture as I made a full body circle out in front of the Suite. I was expecting a spectacular photo but instead ended up with this nice one.

Wow!! (I must be missing something.)

Our set up - together
in the morning light

The pink mountains in the opposing sky are just
as lovely

I didn’t tell you about the mishap with our bathroom door so I will now. Lessons we learn on this journey.

Waiting

At one of our stops, I don’t recall if it was for the night or just a rest stop, I used the bathroom and closed the door which opens out into the hallway. The door has to be closed because the large bed/hall closet slide closes against that wall with the door. There has been an issue with the bathroom door, on occasion, the latch not catching. This time, it didn’t and I neglected to look over my shoulder to check. At our front door is the panel where we push the button to close slides.

Pop, there it is!

You can’t see the slide come in for this one while holding the button. It was almost halfway in when I heard a crunch and took my finger off the button immediate. Yup, you guessed it. The door had come open and slide met door which pulled the bottom hinge partway out as well as some of the door jam. It took a kick at the hinge to get it back partially in place to close the door tight and carry on. There were a few expletives, I have to admit, this one was my fault. Crap!

It isn't as big a step as at home but he
can still survey for us

Bill knew it would be an easy fix. First, he went into town with our Blue Flame heater to see if RV Lifestyles could fix it within the week that we’re here. He also had some other stops to make and returned disappointed that Herb’s Hardware, a popular spot for the guys, was permanently closed. He left the heater, pleased that Dennis said he could do it today. Yay! Back home, he discovered that he had the proper screws and took care of the door pretty quickly and easily.

Gayle visits with her morning coffee
Such a cute picture! ♥

While he was gone, Gibbs and I sat outside with Gayle. A morning ‘happy hour’, just us 3. We had some breakfast, bacon and eggs, around 9:30 and Bill kept himself busy fixing our towel bar which hangs over the above-mentioned door. He cut the hooks off and screwed it directly on, assuming that has been the issue with the closing. Or at least part of it. When I answered the phone from Dennis, we got cleaned up and went into town to pick up our heater and do some shopping.

We went to a favourite vendor in town this morning

The heater just needed a really good cleaning, some parts that Bill couldn’t get to obviously, and all for a mere $30. So worth it. Those guys at RV Lifestyles are THE best. 😊 Such great service. Then we walked the strip of Quartzsite that had some vendors who were open for business. It seemed very dead but we wandered, separately, into some of our favourite places. I’ve wanted to replace my knock-off crocs so found a pair I liked plus a couple of Jasper stone bracelets. It was hard to choose but I loved the colours.

It is very interesting to see what people
are camping in - I love it!

Back home, Bill climbed up on the roof to tilt our solar panels in the wind. We aren’t exactly facing the proper direction to get the best out of our panels, didn’t think that through when we parked but for a week, we’ll manage.

Bill got the panels tilted late and attached his
weather station

I visited over at Gayle’s, her friend, Judy, who is from Alberta and parked across the road was there and it has been a while since we’ve seen them. Gibbs was very good over on our patio mat, we’re working on the barking, and I could hear other dogs barking but he was mostly quiet. Good dog!

Now, I've got salted pistachios

The wind just vamped up and the dust along with it, so we came inside when Bill finished and I made a tea. We know about the winds here but it hasn’t discouraged us from coming here yet. It isn’t always this windy so we roll with the punches. 😊 We’d planned on grilling burgers tonight and despite the gusts blowing from the NW, mostly, he had success and we were eating by 5:30. We missed Happy Hour today – with anyone – because of the winds. Tomorrow!

Little boy in the big chair
Look at those blowing locks

Supper was great, just a cheeseburger, loaded. This afternoon, I pulled the bag of UNsalted pistachios out of the cupboard. I bought them by mistake, I wanted salted, so read up on how to salt them. They are still in shells so I boiled them in salty brine and then baked them on a cookie sheet on the Weber for 15 minutes. Oh my, that worked like a charm so I’d been munching on them on and off this afternoon. They are loaded in nutrition, a bit too many carbs but high in other things too.

We love this little 'teddy bear'

We did dishes and settled in for the night. We read our books until 8 pm when CSI-Vegas comes on. It’s the new one with Grisholm and Sarah on screen again. 😊 I dusted this afternoon, on the mail level, something I think I’ll be doing a lot of and I also Norwex dry mopped the floor. It was badly in need and is much improved. We have had a great day and I’m sure there is another one in store for tomorrow.
