Quiet Morning, Tyson Wells

Park Place RV Place

On Friday, (TGIF! for all you workers), Dec. 6th we were up at the same time. I woke with a bit of concern over my left eye acting up but soon gathered that I was wearing the glasses my optometrist suggested I stay away from. Bad me. The prescription is not the best but I wear them because they are transition. I switched them before going for my walk and wore my over theglasses sunglasses. Got that? 😊

Good morning!
I am starting to love the before glow
almost as much as the after glow.

No problems on my walk nor since I returned. Phew! It’s scary when things go awry with your eyes, just like with any other aging body part. I had my tea and half a Pomelo before Gibbs and went out the door. I’m glad I changed from my heavy stretch pants to capris and short sleeves, as the morning had already warmed up nicely. Gibbs let me know where he wanted to walk, how fast and how far so he was happy.

Almost, but gee, this is so pretty!

We bumped into Jess, our class teacher, and she informed me that she got my message and had added 3 of us to her class list. Yes, 3 of us, it will be fun on Wednesday! I made my b p coffee and just as I was about to walk to the clubhouse, Bill and Duncan returned. A quick hello and see ya, and I was at the puzzle.

Yes, another 'pop' picture

Bette was doing her laundry in between cleaning the stove so helped with a few pieces while there. 😊 It won’t be done today but possibly tomorrow, we’ll see. I forgot to take a picture when I left. I was home for lunch with Bill and I reheated the last 2 pizza slices. It is still very good! We planned supper and Bill went for a quick doze until 1 pm. We all piled into Black Beauty and took a drive to Tyson Wells.

Across from the big food tent, at which
I didn't buy anything today.........is the Quartzsite Box Tent.
I guess it is Amazon returns and she has a price list.
I'm trying hard to ignore how she spelled Wednesday and Saturday.
I guess we should go on Thursday.

For those who don’t know, this is an area on Kuehn St. in Quartzsite where all the tent vendors set up and stay set up through until at the very least, the beginning of March. Some stay longer. It is always fun and interesting to walk through each year so we often go many times during our winter stay. There is no ‘bargaining,’ prices are set as these vendors have to pay a rental fee for their spot. Pay what they ask or move on, basically. 😊

With the boys snoozing, it gave me ample time begin today’s post and that means a head start before the evening closes in on us. I touched base with my best gal back home to see how she is doing after knee surgery. Pat and I chat back and forth throughout the seasons since we leave home. She is coming along, beginning her Physio and hopefully headed for a speedy recovery. Some of you know Pat, and I know you wish the same thing for her.

Our sunset isn't much different than our sunrise

We walked through a few of the tents, a fair number have not yet arrived but along the main strip, it is getting filled up. We each found a few things to bring back with us and that was our first taste of Tyson Wells – this winter. We’ll be back a few times before we leave here in the spring. Back home, we met for Happy Hour and then I took Gibbs for his walk.

Bill and I stepped out of the norm tonight with a homemade Spanish/Mexican meal. I used to make tacos, years ago, but didn’t think Bill enjoyed them so I stopped. Lately, I’ve discovered that he doesn’t mind them at all. 😊 I’d bought the flat bottom hard shells and for this beginning trial, I bought a can of Hormel’s chili.

Our messy tacos were delicious!

I heated it, even though it was runnier than I’d hoped, piled it in the shells and added lettuce, shredded cheese and sour cream. My, oh my, but it was m-e-s-s-y! But sometimes the flavour takes over and all that (like loaded messy burgers) doesn’t matter. They were gooood! We cleaned up the plates and I dished out some Tillamook Oregon Dark Cherry ice cream for dessert. It has been a long time since we’ve had this luxury in the Suite! Today was a great day, 76F/24C. How many is that in a row? I love Arizona!

It has been a long time since we've had
Tillamook ice cream.

We enjoyed it very much.
Good night!

Thank you for your visit. I enjoy your comments and try to respond to each one individually.

Sharing is What we Do, Tyson Wells and Big Tent

Park Place RV Park

On Friday, Jan. 26th we were awake by 6:30 when Bill took Gibbs out. This little pooch is so good. At 5:45 when he nudged Bill and was told ‘it’s not time yet, go back to sleep’ he crawled back to me and slept until 6:30. 😊 When they returned, Bill came back up to bed after taking some Advil for a headache. Oh no! I guess it is only fair and not a surprise that I shared this bug.

Good Friday morning

He felt better once we got up an hour later and I admit to feeling more stuffed up than I have over the last 3 days. That convinced me to stay away from the clubhouse puzzle one more day. Bill left for the field and then Gibbs and I went for our walk. What a lovely morning! The sky was clear blue and the sun was already warm on my face. When we returned, I messaged Nancy with an offer to join me for a walk.

Gibbs and I walked past Rick and Patti's 'new to them' cart

I slipped my hoody off and just wore my windbreaker over a t-shirt and that was perfect. We walked to Family Dollar and just poked through the aisles. I had a few things in mind and found a couple of them, once I remembered what they were! Nancy also found a couple of items. It was a lovely morning and great to get out in the fresh air where we can enjoy each other’s company.

Funniest thing I've ever seen in
a dollar store!
A home test kit.........what, you're acting
different so you need to test yourself for mj?

When we returned, I walked over to drop off 3 books that we’ve (Bill) finished. I’d previously read them all. I grabbed a 300-piece puzzle, against my better judgement (haha), and will put it together on the coffee table until I feel comfortable going back to work on the big one. 😊 The pieces are huge so I feel a bit silly……..but I’ll get over it. Bill was home late for lunch so I opened a can of broccoli cheddar soup for myself. He made himself a ham and cheese sandwich.

You are going out again?

We first went back to the Big Tent
and walked through the vendors there

They, my boys, went upstairs for a snooze and I finished my J.P. book. It was very good so I put it in the cupboard for Bill to read next. We left Gibbs in charge of our home and drove to the Big Tent for our second walk through. Got a parking spot easily but only because a couple walking back told us they were leaving. Perfect! The parking lot and tent were very busy which is great for the businesses and the town.

For Deb D. They even have a
Madagascar Ocotillo for sale.

For those who have never been here,
this is an example of what the vendor tents look like at
Tyson Wells. Everything and anything.

Bill picked up some tank treatment that he saw on Saturday and I picked up more yak cheese bones for Gibbs to take back home. He loves them! Nancy found something too and then we drove to Tyson Wells for a walk around. It was also quite busy but we found a spot at the back and began at aisle Z making our way to the vendors we like. I think we all found something and Bill picked up a box of 120 grit sandpaper that M and I use on the vehicles we work on. It’s a good price. 😊

Saguaro & cholla cacti skeletons

Colourful jackets and a pretty lady
with popcorn!

We drove past this beautiful property on
W. Tyson St. on our way home.

Nancy and I picked up a ShadePro visor
for $1

Gibbs got a basket for his toys

Back home, I made my tea and Bill poured himself a Zero Coke. It has been a good day. Gibbs and I went for our walk around the park at 5 and a few light clouds had moved in. No special sunset here though. For supper, I baked chicken breasts, we had coleslaw and pie for dessert. We’re both feeling okay, but Bill is sniffling, something that didn’t affect me, although I’ve been sneezing today.

Our afternoon walk was pleasant

Supper was good and after dishes were loaded in the dishwasher, we watched an episode of Reacher together. We’ve had a good day and soon these remnants of the ‘almost’ cold symptoms will abandon us. I appreciate your concerns and best wishes. 😊

Supper was good.
Good night.

Thank you for stopping around.

Tyson Wells, Warmer Weather Returns, Gibbs ♥’s Dog Parks

Park Place RV Resort, the Q.

On Friday, Feb. 4th, not much was different this morning except Gibbs and I left Bill in bed and slipped out for our walk at 7:20. It was 39F/3.9C and yet quite lovely. The sky was clear blue and there wasn’t any wind at that time of the morning. Perfect! We walked all around the outskirts of the 3 RV parks and 1 village (park models/permanents) and there were no vehicles out and about at all.

The Arizona Sun Village is a private residential park

Very fancy looking

Then, the Arizona Sun RV Resort was beside it
Looks like another nice park

The sun popped this morning

We love the private home properties with gates and brick fences

This tree has seen better days
but it is still nice for the camera

On the back stretch to home, we veered off the paved road into the desert, which is all around us (in a good way), because a Saguaro caught my eye and intrigued me. Once I reached it, I was saddened by its condition but it seems the birds are enjoying what it offers. Standing tall, it still provides a perch or two for them to sit on and some greenery for them to peck at.

Can you see him?

He was chattering away the whole time

Back home, Bill was up and had Gibbs’ breakfast ready. One day, I will go further to see how close to town I can get. This is a better place for me to extend my walking pleasure without limits and without too much repetition. We had our breakfast, my faux oatmeal is still hitting the mark, and after washing up, drove into town. We’ve wanted to peruse Tyson Wells again, the ‘tent vendors’, now that the crowds have diminished considerably.

Another pretty tree shot

Some weren’t open yet at 10:30, others were trying to re-establish their wares after the wind storm, but we wandered looking for a couple of things in particular. I found 2 or 3 things but one that I was looking for was sold out. Darn it! I should have grabbed it when I saw it before. Live and learn. We stopped at Sandra ‘D’s to make an appointment for Bill’s haircut but it was noon hour and her shoppe was closed. We’ll call.

I'm sure a little birdie whispered in our ears
and we stopped at the caramel popcorn booth

Bill toured a few streets in town, just for fun, and we stopped to fill our water bottle and at Roadrunner for a loaf of bread. I was feeling a headache from needing to eat something so at home I immediately started making myself a quesadilla with the few items on hand that were quick. Bill made himself a sandwich and then we crashed in our chairs. The day was warming up with that glorious sun and we dozed off and on until 2:30.

The guys at the flying field had told Bill about the Quartzsite radio station so once he turned the Sirius radio off and listened locally. It’s called Oldies Classics geared to us ‘Baby boomers’ so we know all the tunes. It’s nice to hear our weather and about events going on right here in this small town. He felt pleased to hear his flying club’s event advertised for this weekend. 😊

Gibbs was hoping for a playmate

Gibbs and I walked back to the dog park. We were alone for about 15-minutes, I was thrilled to see quail running through the wash behind the park! While busy watching them, I spotted Sherry and Missy, who I incorrectly named yesterday. Her real name is Trudy the red hair turned out to be well suited to her personality. 😊 Gibbs greeted her at the gate and they had a great time for about an hour and a half.

I was thrilled to see Mr. & Mrs. Gamble Quail for the second time
this winter!

There was a whole 'gang' of them chattering about

She was quite testy today with her little ball, only some of the time, and all he wanted to do was play. She’d snap at him and he’d run with her chasing him. That didn’t deter him and he’d run back wanting her to chase him again. It was quite entertaining and neither of them were in any danger of being hurt. Sherry couldn’t get over the many faces of Gibbs, always happy, while Trudy was like a grumpy little old lady. Ha ha (her words, not mine).

Sherry said, Trudy saw Gibbs and I go by so picked up
her ball to come to the park.
So cute, him meeting her at the gate. ♥

They played hard and rested together

Bill was watching NCIS when we returned and Gibbs told him all about his fun. 😊 I made a tea and began today’s post. The sun was gorgeous up there and I appreciated it since we are facing east and don’t get afternoon sun from our patio.

I don't have to tell you who's outside
Gibbs looks like a posed toy in this picture

It has warmed up to 63F/17C and although the winds have picked up a bit, it is a lovely day. I worked on my afghan for a while, Gibbs at my side and turned Jeopardy on to see just how ‘dumb’ I really am. Ha ha, just kidding.

Burger night (like at Pilot Knob)

We had burgers and fries for supper and I really didn’t need so much. I just had a few fries and they were good! After dishes, Bill watched movies and I worked on my blog and my blanket. This has been a good day all around.

This one is a reminder to myself
'Someone' suggested that i could make this on my own
so I took another look 😀
Many clothes in these shops remind me of the late 60's, early 70's
Peace!
and
Good night!

Thanks for stopping in.

Stinger “B” Departure, Pop-In Visitor, A Last Trip Through Tyson Wells

Quartszite, AZ

On Tuesday, Jan. 28th Bill was up way before me. It was before 5 am. I didn’t make it downstairs until closer to 6:30. It had been a fairly warm night for sleeping and Bill turned our Blue Flame heater on when he got up just to take the morning chill off. This morning it was 50F when we headed out for our walk so no need to bundle quite so much. We knew our friends were leaving between 8 and 9 but figured we would be back on time for a proper goodbye. We headed to the north on the west side of the main road.

good morning
We turned around after reaching a mile marker on my Fitbit and came back south on Main. We waved at Dave this morning although who knows if he saw us go by today. I made my tea and while sitting inside with Bill, we noticed some light coming in from under our big kitchen slide out. What the heck? Upon examination outside, Bill found that one of the 5” rollers had come off and thankfully was sitting on the edge tucked under the rubber. It was lifting the rubber letting light in. Well, what next?? LOL

the pink mountains to the west

I can't resist turning around to see the sunrise
Luckily, it in no way deters the movement of our slide and other than marking the outer floor area, it should be okay until we return. Knowing Bill and the guys, they may have other ideas. There is also one other roller that has popped out at one end of the bracket. If you have slide outs like this, you’ll understand. Otherwise, sorry for the confusing garble. This is the second issue that we’ve noticed and so Bill immediately called our reliable service gal, Peggy, back at CanAm and made an appointment.

You can't see the light here but this is the slide
Then we all stepped out to wish Tom and Deb safe travels on the next leg of their journey. It was a few minutes after 9 so they were pretty much bang on their flexible schedule to depart. They don’t have far to go today so Deb drove the Jeep behind the coach. This is our last day here in this area so there are a few small things we wish to do in town and then, of course, some packing up.

See you guys!

there goes the Stinger "B"
Around 9:30 Bill and Keith left, one more time, for the Quartzsite flying field. Keith has a newly repaired plane again and wants to test fly it. Because it is a gas engine, he wants to do it in a safe area. The electrics you can pretty much fly anywhere, within reason, but not the gas ones.

When we returned from town
Then there were 3
Our group is dwindling
I chatted with Kim and Ken for a bit before coming inside for another brew and to finish my book. Which I did. I updated My Books on Goodreads and dug out my next read. Cross country by James Patterson. Alex Cross will take me on another page-turning adventure.

This fence at the Chevron fuel station is quite unique
As I was inside, I watched a large truck pull in, up to our Suite. Hmm. When the man got out, he immediately sounded friendly and said ‘you don’t know me, but I’m friends with Rick and Kathy’. I was relieved that it was someone with a connection. Wayne seems to be a nice man and I had read his and Sue’s name on Rick’s blog.

the Big Tent's sides come down
He basically wanted to chat with us about Bill’s dental experiences in Algodones. After talking for a few minutes, I suggested he come back when Bill is here and he can give him directions to Dr. Eva’s office. We are all in the same boat and value each other’s experiences relating to the work done and the cost. Bill can certainly tell him what he knows. After Wayne left, I pulled a cauliflower out of the fridge. It needed to be dealt with before it goes bad.

I found a recipe that I’d saved for cauliflower crust pizza and with the exception of a handful of the florets, I chopped it into tiny pieces. I would eat the rest for supper one night. That took a bit of time and I knew that I could (and may yet) use my blender to rice it even smaller. Right now, this was enough. It then went back in the fridge. I put a few more things away for our move in the morning and changed into my shorts. It was getting quite warm! 😊

The vendors are packing their wares and their tents up
When Bill and Keith got home, around 11:30 I think, we were all happy to hear that his plane flew well. Bill warmed up the leftover sausage and waffles from yesterday and I had some yogourt and cottage cheese. We took a run into town for fuel and a couple of small items. Surprisingly, a lot of the tents and vendors have closed up shop and left. Many were in the process. We were disappointed that one in particular had left as we’d planned to pick up some gifts there. Hmmm, we’ll have to rethink that idea.

Cute!
Around 1:30, I cut up an apple with a couple of slices of sharp cheddar cheese for my lunch. I chatted with Kim for a bit and took her the Godmothers book that I’d finished. She may or may not like it. We sat outside on our patio while Bill puttered around packing the Weber Q, table, lights, etc. up. Ken joined us and that was when Keith told us he was taking the quad out for a run ‘over there, on those trails’, he said. With a promise to stop, honk and wave, off he went. Oreo was quite content on their patio and slept mostly while he was gone. Wayne returned briefly and talked to Bill, got the info he needed and was off again. We wish him good luck with Dr. Eva Urena, we hope he is pleased with her.
The elephant water tower at the Big Tent parking
Dave and Cheryl stopped by for a quick hug goodbye but they didn’t stay. They’ve had a busy visiting day as well. Life as a retiree can keep you moving! It was around 4:30 or so that Keith returned, being towed back to camp. He broke a belt up there on the mountain and luckily was with someone who helped him get back safely.
Discussing repairs to the quad

There are many nice people out here and they like to help in any way they can. I was being a Mom and starting to worry about him so glad to see he was fine. They boys helped him a bit getting the belt off and around 5:45 Kim and I parted ways to get supper in motion.

The sky was gorgeous again just after the sun set. Wowsa! I had earlier told Bill to put the bbq away as I’d pulled our last container of homemade chili out of the freezer. That freed up space and made for an easy peasy supper. I toasted our last two burger buns and that was our meal tonight. It was very good! I’d forgotten how good that batch of chili turned out. There was only enough for two though or I would have happily shared with Keith. He’d had a rough afternoon.

We took care of dishes and I sat to finish my post. Tonight, being Tuesday, we recorded a couple of programs and relaxed for the evening. It is interesting to note that at 6:30, it was still fairly light out. The days are getting longer again. Yay! This was a good day for our last one here. It will be weird for Kim and Ken, but perhaps very nice, to be alone for a couple of days before they also pull out. They were the first to arrive and the last to leave with a lot of ‘guests’ in between.

Chili on toast
Good night
Thank you for stopping in to see what we’re up to. Having fun, that’s what!
