Some Days are for Just Chillin'

 The Ridge

On Sunday, Aug. 3rd, as the title suggests was a day for doing absolutely nuttin'. Well, that's the way I saw it and no one is going to argue. It was 7:30 by the time I woke up and that was to find Bill crawling across the bed with a goodbye kiss. 💖

Good Morning!
Although this was last night's picture
as we drove over to the Acreage.
Still a very smoky sky.

Gibbs gave a pre-emptive bark too so I knew he was coming too. With his little head tucked right in between ours, all we could do was laugh. Me too, me too! Bill connected his cargo trailer and was off to the flying field. Later, he told me that he couldn't get one plane flying so flew his sail plane today.

Our group around the fire was
much smaller than years ago when D & G
began having their 'campouts'.
Just 6 last night.

What did we do back here on the home front? Nothing, really. I opened up the Bunky, thinking maybe some quilling, and walked over to check my vegetables. I have one tall sad looking tomato plant with no evidence of producing, which is puzzling.

My little entertainer found
the feel of the tent bottom to be fun today.
Look at that eye in the left picture,
he knows I have the camera. 💗

However, the rest are loaded with green ones on the verge of turning colour. I also was pleased to see a couple of peppers on Thursday or Friday and they are coming along nicely. No egg plants, but it looks like flowers are forth-coming. The sprouts are a write off but at least feeding pests, keeping them off my other plants. 🫨

The apple tree at the road is
loaded and showing some rosy cheeks
on some apples.

After sitting on my backside for a while in the screen tent, I suggested to Gibbs that we 'check the mail'. Of course, there is no mail delivery on the weekend, but he doesn't know that and it gets him to know where we're going to stretch our legs at the very least.

On our way back, I stopped at
the small corral garden to pull
some tall weeds.
I left the thistle alone but was
surprised to see how tall this Evening Primrose
was!

While down at the road, we checked out the apple tree. Making up for last year's non-productive harvest, the tree is full with even some apples showing a tint of red. Is it really August already? I should get more in the freezer this fall. 😉

When Mike and his daughter's came to
pick up his trailer, Gibbs wasted no time
in jumping up in Mike's truck.
I guess we're just too mean to him.
Goofy dog!

The rest of the day was quiet. Bill got home around 1 and Mike and his daughter's came in before 2 to pick up his trailer for the week. Yay, a family camping trip for them! I think they'll have good (hot) weather and by the looks of the kayaks on the roof of Emily's car, they'll have fun on the water.🛶

Bill disconnected their hydro cord
and watched them pull out.
Gibbs sat nearby watching as well.

Bill and Gibbs had their snooze and I finished my book. Gerry and Bill had planned to install G's tv in their new cabin so Bill left us to go do that. I was hoping for a ride on Jazz this weekend, but things are getting in the way. I made a cup of tea and went to the Bunky after all.

When Bill went to the Hangar, Gibbs resumed duties right in the middle and when I came in at 5:15 to start supper, he waited outside until about 10 minutes before his Daddy came up before he sauntered to the step and inside the Suite. 😍

Supper was good, ending
with fresh cut up peaches and whipping cream.

Supper was pork ribs, ends mostly, corn on the cob and mini red potatoes done in Madame IP. They were quite tender after just 20 minutes of cooking and 10 minutes of release time. We cleaned up and I worked on my blog. My mind was also focused on the Moonflower...........is tonight the night?

It's after 7:30 and although
my flower is closer to blooming,
I don't think tonight is the night either.
I believe I have become a stalker!

It was a really slow, relaxing day for me today. We reached a warm/hot high temperature of 25C/78F but humid again. I hope you are enjoying your long weekend if it is a celebration weekend for you in your province.

This is another memory picture.
July 30, 2017 we had visitors at the Ridge.
Met for the first time,
Mr. & Mrs. Furry Gnome
George and Suzie were guests as well.

Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

Laundry and Just Chillin’

The Ridge

On Sunday, May 22nd we took our time getting up and moving. It was 8 when I started sorting and prepping the dirty clothes. Gibbs, of course, tried to help, getting into his playful mood. We left him in charge and with our coffee-to-go mugs, we drove to town. First, we stopped at Rob and Pat’s to give them a couple of things we brought back from Arizona and Mexico for them. 😊

Lunch for a Sunday

The Mat wasn’t busy at all and although we had some difficulty with one machine, we loaded two machines. Bill went about a small job for Jamie in one of the lockups and I went about cleaning. We finished by putting our clothes in the dryers since it was a wet start to the day. No line drying today. It was a chilly 8C/47F so I’m glad I didn’t have to stand up there anyway!

What can I say? Another mixed up sky day

We went to Foodland for some replacement meat for the freezer. Our insurance claim for the fridge and other repairs needs receipts so heck, I’ll buy meat here in town. Lastly, filling our water jug at the Water Store and we headed home. That was it for our chores today and the remainder of the day was pretty laid back. I baked cinnamon rolls for lunch and Bill went to the Hangar.

It had a hard time deciding what to do

Gibbs and I stayed inside where I first finished my blog, read, he slept and I even dozed a bit. Because nothing else happened today, this is a short blog. For supper, we had leftovers so the picture would be the same as last night. Instead of dessert, we decided to have some chips and cheese while watching the 3-hour finale of American Idol. Basically, pretending it’s Saturday night. 😊

I choose this one

This was a fine day and the sun made the odd appearances in the afternoon which was a surprise. Is your Memorial Day weekend going well?

As long as there is something to watch
out the window, Gibbs has a good day 💕💕💕
Good night!

Thank your for stopping in!

Laundry Day, Kicking Stones, Chillin’ with my Boys, Miracle Worker

The Ridge

Sunday, June 13th, that is what today is. Hard to believe that the weekend is almost over. Bill said today “sometimes 2 days off just isn’t enough”. Hmm, methinks he is getting closer to retiring for the second time. 😊 He didn’t sleep well again last night, if it isn’t one body part, it’s another and his late night did nothing to help him drop into a deep sleep.

Some cows and calves for Loree

We were awake just around 6 am and little Gibbs hadn’t made a peep. He was up as late as his Daddy – well, he slept on the floor not in his crate until 11:30. He was pretty good up in bed with us until 7:30 when I pushed myself to get up. I had a laundromat to clean, clothes to sort and laundry to take care of. I didn’t want my morning to go any faster than it was already going to. I left for town about 7:45.

Gibbs wasn't sure before if he liked the hammock
so this was his first 'settle down' time in it

With just two customers to start, 2 washers were being used and then my 2. A young couple came in and managed to use 17 washing machines leaving 2 available for anyone else coming in. Wow! Who has that much laundry? I don’t know, there could be an interesting story behind that! 😊 I’m just glad the one lady took her wet clothes, as did I and the man had finished drying his clothes before they needed dryers. I’m sure they took most of those as well. Good revenue today, Jamie!

And with Daddy too

I left there and drove across the street to fuel up and then a quick stop at the bank to deposit my earnings from the last few weeks. I like to build it up before depositing it so my account takes a nice jump all at once. Ha ha. It makes me feel better than putting in $100 here and $50 there. I made my tea and then went to hang the clothes on the line. It’s a beautiful morning with full sun and a slight breeze. Perfect for drying laundry. Back in the Suite, I worked on finishing my blog.

Looking around while in the hammock
My Woodpecker is a cute silhouette

The view of the Suite from a different angle

Bill went out to hook the wee trailer to the riding mower and we picked up the 4 piles of stones/rocks I’d gathered. Loading the small trailer and then hand bombing them back out over the corral fence to where we want them. More back breaking bending for about an hour. Gibbs watched and supervised from his position on the patio. He was quiet for the most part. He seems to understand “I’ll be right back” now and waits patiently, almost in the exact same spot unless he needs shade and then he'll move. 😊

And Bill fixed my umbrella

In about half hour, it was fixed

With that job done, it was 12 noon and since Bill had cereal earlier, we debated lunch. Neither of us felt like bacon and eggs and he wasn’t that hungry yet anyway. I made myself a creamy coffee which would fill the gap and then at 2:30 we had cinnamon buns. Pillsbury ‘to die for’ – ‘bad for us’ cinnamon buns. Yup, you heard me. They were delicious. The way to Bill’s heart is definitely in this format. He loves the creations of the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

My Hibiscus is starting to produce foliage

From his poor sleep last night, he was out for the count and slept in his chair for almost an hour. I did the dishes and then started bringing the clothes in. That’s where he found me when he woke up and we finished together. Then I left the two of them while I went out with my book and soaked up some sun. I tried to read but the sun felt too wonderful so I closed my eyes and probably napped too.

The rocks we picked up went here
another 'project' but likely not this year

The sun was quite hot so after half hour, I moved to the shady hammock and soon they joined me. One thing you can say about us, even though we can work with the best of them, we sure know how to chill. 😊 Later, Bill went to the Hangar and took our patio umbrella down with him. Hmmmm. I don’t know how someone can solve so many issues but I call him my Miracle Worker.

Our mid afternoon lunch tsk tsk

I thought it was non-repairable and it seems many of you had more faith in him than I did. I’m thrilled that when he brought it back up, it opened up like it should and you’d be hard pressed to pick out which rib was broken if it wasn’t for the 4 screws in the new piece of metal. LOL My hero! He managed some time for his hobby and worked on his plane for part of the afternoon too. At 6 we talked about supper. It wasn’t necessary to have a big meal so we just munched on chips and cheddar and he went back down until our program, Why Women Kill, came on. The new season and we get a chuckle out of it.

I like that Gibbs will come up the stairs by himself now
He can survey the property!

At 6:00 we also turned the a/c off and opened windows. It was a nice 23C/73F and the breeze coming in the windows was all we needed. The days ahead this week will be similar so hopefully we’ll be using some solar power. This was a lovely day; I wouldn’t change a thing. Tomorrow, I will be working at M’s for 3 hours so that will be a nice change too. I’m hoping for an Owen Sound day on Tuesday – you can guess where I’m going!! I hope you enjoyed your Sunday too.

Good Sunday night!

Thank you for your visit!
