Coffee and Lunch with a Friend.

 Park Place Rv Park

On Wednesday, Mar. 25th I had a date! I had a wonderful sleep, not waking until 6 am but was not in a rush at all. Bill went to the field, just for social time. They are also coming to an end.

Good morning!

Gibbs and I went for our walk within the park and managed to upset Rosy, Anne Marie's pooch, one more time. Not too badly today, I just kept him moving along past the dog park as quickly as possible. 🐾

It was to be another hot day so I chose a summer dress to wear since I was going out for lunch. At a few minutes before 9 I went to the clubhouse and started flipping pieces over and during border pieces of the next puzzle.

This is a really old puzzle
but TK's pictures never grow old.

Sue helped because who doesn't like a Thomas Kincaid picture? Bill joined the last few minutes of coffee hour and left around 10. I finished the border and returned home at 10:30.

Greek omelette and toast.
Yummy!

At 11:30, Erma picked me up and we went to Mountain Quail restaurant on Main. There are always varying reviews on venues, this place is no different. With 2 locations in town, we chose the newest one.

I had the Greek omelette with a piece of sour dough toast.  It was very good! We had a great catchup and exchanged some health tips and travel plans before she dropped me off at home. It was really nice. We vowed to try and do it more often this coming winter.

The sky is pretty clear.
That means it is pretty hot.

I gave him his hat and left him
to it.

Bill had decided to work on the box in the back of Black Beauty. He built it in there to carry his planes back and forth and wanted to see how much he could pack in there. The more that fits there, the less that has to come inside. 😌

Okay now what?
I'll decide tomorrow.

I went to work on the puzzle and left him to it. I began to start on the sky pieces and managed to finish that section. Before I got carried away, I returned home around 3:30 and joined my sweeties. Not much was happening at home so I started my blog.

The view from the clubhouse ramp
That's our Suite, right in the middle.

Supper was tacos and they always fit the bill. However, although they are delicious, they are extremely messy! We cleaned up and watched a movie together. Today, was another hot day. We reached 103F/35C and I longed for the overnight cool down of 67F/18C.

Taco supreme - kind of.
Good night!

This was a good day, I enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by.

A Trip to Lake Havasu, Lunch with Friends, Gibbs and Gigi

Park Place RV Resort, AZ

On Wednesday, Feb. 16th we are on the down side of the month. It wasn’t to be as hot today, only 66F/19C, the winds that blew in yesterday cooled things down a fair bit. We were up at 7 and had some breakfast together. Gibbs and I skipped our walk today. We left the house, all of us, by 8:30, put some expensive diesel in the truck at the Arco near us and took the drive through Parker, arriving in Lake Havasu City shortly after 10.

A beauty of a day for a drive

Gibbs was ready for a long truck ride

It has been a while since we’ve been there but soon remembered the beautiful drive as we drove along the Bill Williams River and the golf course in the mountains 😊 . If I golfed, I’d want to play there! We did hit construction on Hwy 95 and were held up for about 20 minutes but we were forewarned that this could happen by listening to the local radio station earlier this week.

I don't know if you can see the water skiier but
my timing was pretty much perfect

Our first stop was Bill’s favourite, Harbor Freight. He knew what he wanted and I stayed in the truck with Gibbs. When he came out, I nipped into Dollar Tree looking for a storage container but they didn’t have anything in the right size for our needs. We drove from there to Hobby Lobby where I went in to look for the balls of yarn that I need for my bulky blanket. Huh! No luck there either, they really didn’t have much choice at all and nothing that would suffice at all.

The rock formations are pretty cool

We looked for the Mesquite Car Wash & Detailing Shop that we used years ago, hoping to get Black Beauty a good wash. Looking it up on line, when we couldn’t locate the building, it seems to have closed. Only comments/reviews filled us in on that little tidbit. They should be removing their business from the site. Anyway, we left there and after chatting about something Bill saw at H.F. that he’d really like, we went back to get it. He’s a happy camper.

Arriving at Lake Havasu City

It was shortly after 11:30 when we pulled into Rose & George’s laneway. It has been a long time since we’ve seen them too so we were all thrilled that this was able to happen this winter. We shared hugs upon our arrival and met Gigi. Then Gibbs met Gigi and they hit it off famously. She is such a sweet, calm pooch and we are so proud of our active little guy for the way he behaved. It was a real treat to watch them play.

It was chase around the pool time
Thankfully, Gibbs never jumped in. The water was only a chilly 52F!

The Gooden family

There was much resting after play

There was also much drinking
from the community water bowl

George and Bill grilled burgers and Rose had a table of food set out when we came inside to eat. They were delicious burgers and so was everything else. We caught up on all of the news on both sides and it was around 2 when we said goodbye. They’ve had a couple of upsets in their families over the last few days so we left a condolence card for them to open later. That was a great visit.

They were so cute together

George, the pool boy

We needed to stock up on some groceries so Bill stayed in the car while I went in to pick up the things on our list at Walmart. I’m so impressed with the prices we pay there. Mind you, I didn’t buy meat this time, but we saved a bundle. Bill topped the fuel up in the truck when we found a cheaper price there than back here in Quartzsite.

Cheeseburgers, bean salad, pickles, cukes, tomatoes, cheeses
Yum!

No slow down on the way home, hitting the one lane area at just the right time. We were home at the park around 4:30 and after unloading and putting groceries away, we relaxed. Gibbs slept most of the way home, no surprise there. 😊 He played hard today with Gigi. It was a longer, busier day than what we’re used to so it was no surprise that Bill and I dozed in our chairs too.

My favourite picture of the day
I couldn't plan this pose!

I think Gibbs is saying "I love you, Gigi" ♥

Our hosts and dear friends ♥

We weren’t real hungry so I made a toasted tomato sandwich for Bill and I blended up the last of a keto shake. That, with a piece of keto fudge, filled me for the night. This was an awesome day. We’re so happy to have seen our friends again. We hope they make it home to Ontario this summer, we have a spot for them if they need it.

Their lemon tree is laden with fresh
juicy fruit
I brought a bag of at least 9 home with me 😍

An uneventful drive back home

The Bill Williams River
here it reminds me of the show Swamp People

Someone slept most of the way home

No slow down today but lovely views instead
Good night!

Thank you for YOUR visit! Your comments are a treat, keep ‘em coming!

New Day under a Cloudy Sky, No Outdoor Play, Shopping and Lunch Treat

Pilot Knob RV Resort, Winterhaven, CA

Bill and I were up by 7. I opted to join him with a cup of tea this morning and then at 8 we headed out for our walk. Brrr. The wind was brisk and it was only 41F making for not a very pleasant morning. We walked out the front entrance and down the road behind us. It is a nice walk around the outside perimeter of the park. We were back home after our mile and a half, quite refreshed. How nice to walk into a warm home!
Our walk took us out and around the park
This is looking back to the Interstate and the traffic going west
There is a train going by as well but I didn't zoom in

Gila Mountains to the east

A wee bit of pink sunrise along the horizon
and that was the extent of pretty sky until it set tonight
At 9:20 we headed towards the Bocce ball court and stopped to say goodbye to our new friends, Steve and Lynne (and Jack). By the time we got to the court, Gordon was waving us on, saying the wind chill was making it nasty. No bocce ball today. That worked for us as we really wanted to get into Yuma for some running around and food shopping. Which we did, right promptly. First stop, Ross’s for me. I ran in quickly and picked up a second pair of Polo shoes. Yay!

I like walking this road

Looking from the west field back to our site
Notice the flag blowing in the wind
It kept it up all day
From there, we went to Sam’s Club for about 8 items and came out with 12. After that we drove to Southwest Exchange in the Foothills of Yuma. Bill wanted to talk to someone there about what was the best way to fix the area on our roof/slide-out that was leaking earlier in the fall. We’ve had some suggestions and some ideas but now at least have a better idea how NOT to spend our hard-earned dollars. I’m glad he asked a professional so now at least we’ll look for the right stuff. That doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate help from our friends!

This is such a pretty tree and usually this corner site is taken
When we left there, he drove to Fast Eddie’s Hobby Store for something for his airplane battery (?) and I walked into BigLots! Just poking around. Fry’s was next or actually it was first for the last 8 items on our list. We did good, coming out with at least 15 but cashed in on some big savings from the coupons I downloaded to my card. It wasn’t Senior’s Day but we were happy all the same and now it is done.

Just when I know the way to Yuma Palms Mall
Bill changes the route
Ha ha
Before leaving the parking lot at Fry’s, Bill pulled up to their gas pumps to fill the truck. Because of a mix-up on our card, we had 2 for some reason, we missed out on the discount. Now that we’ve got it straightened out, next time we will get 20¢/gallon off. It was 1:30 or later when we left the hobby store so Bill took me to IHop for lunch. We hadn’t eaten before we left home at 10 and other than a snack bar on the drive. This was a treat! I ordered a bacon tomato and cheese omelette with hash browns on the side. Heaven!

What is Ptooties doing in the parking lot?
Did she follow us to Arizona?

In honour of Rob, we ate at IHop

Lots to choose from just on this omelette page
I had the Bacon Temptation, 2nd from the bottom
Bill had the 2 x 2 x 2 (eggs, sausage and pancakes)
Then it was time to head home. The food and prices are great. The place was very busy so I’ll give them leeway on their slow service today. Back home, we offloaded groceries and I managed to find room for everything – again. We took a few minutes to just sit before we walked up to Tom and Deb’s Stinger ‘B’ for Happy Hour. Today was an indoor one again and Bill took a hot chocolate and I took a mug of tea. We got to see Deb’s Christmas decorations this time, we’ve all had a turn.

A great meal and I ate the whole thing!
Back home by 5:30, Bill and I sure didn’t need supper tonight but nothing says there won’t be room for a bit of Christmas pudding. I have sauce to finish up, after all! This was a cool/cold day for us with 54F/12C being our high temperature and the winds between 7 and 15 mph all day. Not a nice day at all for us snowbirds. It was a quiet night with some books read and some television watched. I wanted to get this posted so I could relax. I hope you’ve enjoyed your day!

We're seeing a little more pink sky at sunset than we did at sunrise
Hopefully sunshine tomorrow!
Good night y'all!

Thank you for your visit.

Hip Hop into London, Costco, Lunch with Friends

It was 7 am on Friday, June 15th when Bill and I crawled out of the warm bed. The night air cooled down to 50F/10C or so and the Suite was 62F when we came downstairs. I made our tea and coffee and sat at my laptop to finish writing yesterday’s post. Today, we are heading into London to visit Costco and Walmart and have invited Rob and Pat to join us.

Our cart was full
I got washed and Bill hopped in the shower after we finished blog reading and our drinks. I took Clemson for a short walk to do his business as he would have the major responsibility of looking after the ‘house’. Bill helped Gerald and Carol behind us with a brief issue just before we all walked down to the truck at 9. The air was now warm at 61F/16C so a beautiful day on the way. Yay!

We headed to Costco first and we both came out with full carts. Sometimes it looks like more than it is because of the bulk packaging but I know Bill and I stocked up on things we needed. We shouldn’t have to buy cleaning products for at least a year! When we were finished there we drove to Pet Smart to pick up treats for our little boy. I got him some Milk Bone soft and chewy ones in various flavours since they were on sale for $1.49.
Their cart wasn't much different
Lastly, we drove to an old haunt where Bill and I used to eat most paydays when we were living and working in London. The Southside Family Restaurant is a favourite when we want good but reasonable food and good service. We made it under the hour for breakfast so we all ordered omelettes, benedicts or eggs and sausage. Their home fries were good on the side and we all walked away filled to the gills.

Eggs Benedict and Tea for me
Bill drove home and we each unloaded and stashed our goodies. It was a good morning. I am too full to think about supper so it might just be a simple meal. I knew Bill would be tired because I was feeling it. Shopping does that to me so I was sure he would need a snooze. I caught up with my sister and today’s post before moving outside. No sooner did I begin to set up with my book when Rob invited me to sit with them while they had their tea.

Before we left London, since we were in the neighbourhood of Metcalfe Cr.
we showed them our former house
The house still looks nice
After chatting with Solange, sounds like the gardens will be gone soon
We all like different things
Sitting under their awning out of the sun, Rob soon finished his tea and went inside for a catnap of his own. Pat and I chatted until 3 when we texted Gerry to confirm Happy Hour location today. With our cooler bag we all walked up to their site together.

The lilies in the pond are beautiful and plentiful
So perfect, it doesn't look real
But it is!
There were about 10 or 12 of us today at different times so my picture is only of the first grouping. Chit chat flowed and we looked at wedding pictures Melinda had out of their wedding. There were 3 pooches and Bill felt bad that we didn’t bring out little mutt.
sorry, Gerry, I cut you off a bit
Ron, Gerry, Pat, Rob, Bill, my chair, Linda, Melinda & Aliya, Loree
Back home at 5:30, neither of us felt very hungry so we decided on soup and a sandwich. I like the idea of a later snack of popcorn with melted butter. The large lunch/breakfast was very filling. After our small supper at 6:30, we cleaned up dishes and I took a walk up to dump recyclables. It is a nice evening at 74F/24C and I’m feeling like sitting and doing nothing tonight with my sweeties.

Daisy, liked to play ball
I missed the name of Linda's other pooch
I hope you have enjoyed your day as much as I have. Trailers are starting to pile into the park, the weekend begins. I remember the excitement of going camping on the weekend and as much as it was good times, I’m glad I don’t have to do that anymore.

Tucker hosted the doggie get-together
and kept them in line
Thank you for reading today. I enjoy your comments if you wish to leave one.
