Flying High Today

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Feb. 17th the day focused around the Quartzsite Desert Flyers Fun Fly/Swap Meet at the field. There have been posters around, announcements on the local channel and on Facebook. Bill was up at 5:30 and on his way, in the dark, at 6:30. It would be light very soon. 😊 Gibbs and I slept longer, until 7 and then we got up.

Another surprise this morning when
I opened the blinds.
Bill had already left.

Gorgeous!

This is how the sky cleared out for us
this morning

The little bum was out of sorts until our walk. He missed his Daddy, couldn't figure out why he left so early. He climbed up on the back of my recliner and ignored me while I washed my hair in the kitchen sink. Because I still wasn’t 100% satisfied with the cut, I followed a video I’d watched on how to layer it. It was quite easy and each time those scissors come out, I like it better. The bottom length is fine, it’s the layers in the back. Boring, huh?

It was nice to see such a turnout
at the field.

Gibbs and I took our walk and what a gorgeous morning! It was chilly-ish, 47F/8C, but with no wind, I was fine in shorts and my wind breaker. Gotta love that! I sat with Gibbs and played my Wordle games and then at 10, I packed a small backpack with coffee, water and Bill’s QDF ball cap. I wanted to support the club however possible. 😊 It was a nice walk to the field, but because my heel has been acting up, I took my walking stick. That helped.

Bill was announcing pilots and their plane
as they flew

Looking to the west end of the staging area/runway

Wow! There are a lot of spectator vehicles, along the road and in the parking area of the field. That’s awesome, advertising paid off. They had a food vendor from Parker, which is new, so that will draw people too. If you don’t have to take or leave for lunch, it’s a big deal. Bill had taken my chair for me in B.B. so I set it up and found a nice sunny spot. Next, I just basically enjoyed the show!

a few of the big engines in the static display

There were a fair number of pilots, one flew a turbine engine jet and another a twin engine gas jet. They were very loud. Bill could better tell you what they were but they were fast and exciting to watch. The crowd loved them. Woody had sold a few hats before I arrived and a few after but he didn’t need me to walk around with him at least. My heel was aching a bit so I just sat near President Bill.

If you look closely..........this is two planes, set to fly.
The white plane on the bottom is fuel powered, the top is
a glider sitting in a homemade cradle. Two pilots required.
Once in the air, the glider will be released and float
through the sky until the pilot brings it down.
What a neat display! I've never seen that before.

Fueling up the turbine jet

For lunch, we each had bacon wrapped hotdogs and fries. That was probably more than I needed but they were good, especially the dogs, and we wouldn’t need much for supper – again. At noon, they drew for the 50/50 draw and Bill was 2 numbers off the win for $378. Close but no cigar! 😊 There was a Swap Meet and he was hoping to sell a few things. He was thrilled when he did!

The twin engine

Woody sells hats - good deal, $6 each or 2 for $10

Wheelin' and dealin' here.
Bill sells a plane (yay, less to carry home),
an engine and a couple of servos. 😊

I walked back home around 1:15. With the heat I was feeling from the walk, I sat in the shade with Gibbs and waited for Bill to return an hour later. What a nice day.

The clouds moved in this afternoon, which was an okay thing
when I was walking home.
It would have been quite warm with my backpack on.

This barrel cactus is pretty, even after the flower

I read my book outside, following the sun into the gazebo, until it was time to take Gibbs for his walk. Supper was just cream of chicken and mushroom soup. It was enough and tasted quite good.

It was a great day for the walk.

someone snuggled with me today
even after Daddy got home. 💖

I will either finish my book tonight or watch another rerun episode of Reacher. Until the new season starts, I want to refresh what has happened so far.  We’ve reached a lovely high of 74F/24C. We won’t drop below 54F/12C which is a great sleeping temperature.

Looks like Gibbs was on a mission here.
Our afternoon walk.
Good night!

Thank you for popping in.

Yoga Poses, Sun sitting, Up, Up and Away, Last Day

La Posa South LTVA

On Wednesday, Nov. 30th the day started off the same as our last 7 days have. We got up together a bit later though. It was almost 8 when we were making the bed.

What felt cool when I started out,
warmed up and  I returned with my jacket undone

I got dressed and took little Lazy Leroy (oh yah, we have all kinds of names for him ) for his walk. It lasted less than 10 minutes and when we returned, Bill was just hopping in the shower.

Here you are witnessing the
4-legged "I've gone far enough" stance
The stick straight shadow tells it all

You've seen our front yard
this messy brush is our back yard
with a young Saguaro fighting for space and sun

I’d debated waiting to go further but since he was occupied, I decided to get my morning steps in. One of my commenters asked “Magic Circle?” after others had commented about me getting lost back in that ‘neck of the woods. So, here is an explanation, of sorts. Beyond us, further to the southwest, is a 3 ½ mile area for campers willing and wanting to live in a clothing optional campground. 😉

I hope you can read this
There are a few signs spread to the various
entrances

I prefer clothes, well, unless I’m on the Ridge – alone – or with Bill, so even though in the morning I wouldn’t come across any nudists, I have no need to enter. I found a Labyrinth of the circle but wasn’t at a good enough angle to get a picture. They have also set up a 9-hole disc golf course as well, which is pretty cool. They used to have a much smaller area but, when it was discovered how clean they kept the area, they were offered more land.

Speaking of which, La Posa South and probably most LTVA and blm land campers practice the ‘take out what you bring in’ motto. I never see garbage around here. That says a lot!

It was a pretty morning
The mountains, some in sun and some in black shadow

This morning, some of my pictures feature yoga poses but not any that I’ve done. See if you agree when you look at my few saguaro cacti pictures that are filtered through the writing.

This has to be
'Downward Dog'

I returned home with about 4,500 steps in and planned to get out later to at least reach my 6,000 daily step goals. This was a wonderfully hot day for our last one so I planned to spend a lot of it outdoors with my book and some of it with my sweeties. We had our drinks and breakfast together and then we went outside. Bill was in no hurry to pack things up outside as we would have a couple of hours in the morning to do that before pulling out.

Here we have a few more poses
Sky reaching pose in the back
Maybe Child's pose in the middle
Mountain pose in the front left

This pose? This is me after an hour of Yoga
The "I can't do anymore stretches!" pose 😉

He got his drone out and after charging the battery, took it up to get some pictures over our area. I like it when he does that. His pictures are at the bottom of my post.

A lazy afternoon, just what we all wanted

Gibbs was outside with me a lot of the day and around 3, we went for our afternoon stroll. That turned into a longer walk than he has made in a while. I was duly impressed! I let him walk and sniff as much as he wanted and it was Gibbs who made the decision to go indoors.

A quiet afternoon doing our own thing together

What is that, Daddy?
It's been a while since Gibbs has seen it

Since it's our last day, I'm glad Bill got his drone out

It's up there but hard to see until he brought
it down a few feet

Instead of a cup of tea, I poured myself a Diet Mountain Dew and started my post. For supper, we’re having fish and chips so Bill can put the barbecue away. It goes into the basement first so I try to plan a meal the night before travel that doesn’t require grilling. 😊

Fries and pollock filets

For dessert, of course we had to have pumpkin cheesecake. This has been a wonderful day, reaching 68F/20C and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it.

Gibbs checking out the drone
really close

Bill had the drone take a few pictures

I finished my Kill Alex Cross book this afternoon so will move on to the next one. We’ve had a great time here in the desert, even without power, but we’re both ready for the ‘royal treatment’ of hookups. The evening was quiet, spent together, which is the best way.

This rv is across the wash (in the middle)

This is us in the front
The dark lines you see in the pictures are rocks

A wider angle of the desert around us
I hope you enjoy the view as we do
Good night!

Thank you for your visit on our last day in La Posa South!
