Sam's, Ice Cream, Pool

On Sunday, Mar. 23rd we had an agenda. We were up by 7:30, Gibbs and I, and joined Bill downstairs for breakfast. The milk jug was almost empty, just enough for one bowl of cereal. I had a banana and a half that has had better days so I dumped the mushy mess into my Magic Bullet with cream and yogourt. That was MY breakfast with a creamy tea with coconut oil. Totally filling.

Safe JOURNEY!

Our neighbours were packing up but we knew enough not to bother them while in the process. As we all know, that is a lesson taught and learned early on during this lifestyle. Sometimes it is learned the hard way. 😉 When Ken pulled their Journey out of the site and prepared to hook up the car, I finished washing and getting ready to say goodbye. This has been a fun week and we each snapped a picture before they pulled out around 9.

Bill and I had discussed the grocery situation in the fridge and thought it was a good time to nip into Sam's Club to buy a few things. We stuck to our list (mostly) and were back home before 11. We relaxed until noon and around 12:30 had some toast and jam for lunch. It was Ice Cream Social hour at 1. Thanks to Ken, we got a dollar off our choices. I ordered a banana split today with the works. Shame on me!!

We walked back at 1:30 and the rest of the early afternoon disappeared. I stretched out on the couch and Bill in his recliner as we watched the tail end of a movie. When I got up at 3, after the movie, I realized that I missed Pokeno. Darn! The park has too much going on today, Pool game at 1, Pokeno at 2, LOL. Oh well, I'll save those pennies for the fall at Park Place RV Park. The ladies will take them just as easily! Ha ha. Right, Bette?

I changed into my swimsuit and walked to the pool for a couple of hours. The temperature rose today to 91F/33C with very little breeze. The warm pool actually felt cooler than it was because of the hot air BUT that is the whole idea in my world. A couple of dips in between a couple of sit outs with my book and I was sufficiently. 

The pool time was lovely.
It is a pretty park too.

With the a/c on back at the Suite, Bill was also comfy and our little fur baby was able to sleep without all the panting.

Supper was a simple. Tomato soup with crackers will do the trick. The ice cream was a bit heavy. We watched 50 First Dates with Drew Barrymore just for kicks. We've seen it so many times that I can't count but we chuckle each time. It's a good one. This has been another good day. It was sad to see our friends go but we all have to leave sometime and we wish them a safe journey.

By the way, if any of you make a habit of reading the comments, you would have noticed the one from yesterday. It was from Anonymous and without marking all comments 'subject to approval', some bad ones slip through. I have removed it and hope the 'troll' (as another reader so called them) feels better and moves on. 🤷‍♀️

Ice Cream Social, Happy Valentine’s Day! Canada’s Winter

On Friday, Feb. 14^th, I was back to my normal waking hour of 6:30. I guess that means it was a good restFUL night. 😊 I did my stretches and blocking, with Gibbs laying ‘helpfully’ across my neck, before joining my Valentine downstairs. ♥ He liked my card and I liked the box of chocolates he left on the table.

He knew when he got up that there would be no flying this morning so didn’t even bother going to the field for that. I had my tea and cereal and Gibbs and I hobbled around for his walk. That was harder than I thought it would be so went up to the bed to baby the ache. Bill did have a motor to put in a plane, that arrived yesterday, so drove over to Jim’s Hangar mid-morning.

Once the pain was gone, I got up and did a thorough high dusting job in the Suite. Norwex has this chenille wand that works wonders when extended on the mop pole system I bought. I climbed up on the 3-step ladder and dusted the ceiling fan off too. Don’t look up while doing that, ask me how I know! Then, I dusted the entertainment centre, coffee table and lower cupboards.

Getting the central vac out from under the bed is not something I do often since we got the Dirt Devil but today I did. First a dust mopping then a swoop with the vac on both levels left our home relatively clean. For now. 😊 I headed over to the clubhouse around 10:30 to work on the puzzle for a bit and gave it a good old college try, getting a few more pieces in.

We had lunch together, tomato soup, crackers and toast today. That was a nice change. At 12:30, I went back to the puzzle for an hour. Most of what is left are brown and green pieces so an even bigger challenge begins. Bill and I walked over for the ice cream social that the manager had set up for guests. Sue was under the weather, still, so Bette took up the challenge and got everything set up for us.

It was a small group, such seems to be the order of this park, but the 11 of us enjoyed it very much. Social was the key as we all sat around, helping ourselves to 2 helpings, for an hour. Thank you to the park staff! It was a warm day but the winds were quite gusty again today.

We reached a high temp of 69F/21C despite the gusts and the sky was blue filled with puffy white clouds all day. 😊 Bill left shortly before 5:30 to go see if anyone showed up for night flying. This was the beginning of their Fun Fly but it was quite windy and odds were against the pilots tonight.

When he returns, we’ll have grilled cheese sandwiches for supper. Always a quick easy meal. Tonight, we plan to watch NCIS: Sydney together and I’ll watch Fire Country episodes IF things are done on time. 😊 It has been a good day. Gibbs and I got out for out second walk of the day around 4:30 and I hobbled a bit, anxious to prop my numb leg up when we returned.

Tomorrow promises to be a calmer day with warmer temperatures still. We’ll take it! My family in Cold Lake, Alberta is experiencing freezing cold temperatures but less snow and in Montreal, QC more snow but not so cold and then in our home province, near the Ridge in Ontario, lots and lots of snow piling up and blowing into driveways. Yeuch! This is a good winter for us to be where we are, I wouldn’t be much help to Bill
with my gimpy self!

Exploring the Park, Ice Cream, Pool, Happy Hour

Picacho Peak RV Resort, AZ

On Wednesday, Dec. 1^st we broke into a new month with happy faces. I had a great sleep, although filled with dreams, and Bill said he slept pretty well too. We are close to the busy highway, I think I told you that, so you just never know if you can drop off easily. When Gibbs woke at 4:20, Bill said “it isn’t time to get up, go back to sleep”, he did – until 7. What a good little guy!

First thing on the agenda was laundry, so we sorted our dusty Quartzsite clothes into 3 loads! That’s unusual for us, having more than 2, but we drove up and loaded the machines. The machines take coins and there is a change machine right there so we were good. I walked up to switch to the dryers and made sure to wipe the machines out when I was finished. I’ve trained myself well. 😊

With the laundry done and put away, Bill lit the Weber and I used my new pan to cook eggs and bacon. It isn’t a Teflon pan but it does say ‘non-stick’ and the eggs didn’t stick so there you go. Easy clean up and I took Gibbs for a couple of walks before taking myself out by myself for a cruise to and through the buildings. No dogs allowed, as you know.

I found the Clubhouse which led me to Darla, the activity director, who informed me of a few events. She gave me a calendar for December and had my attention at “there’s ice cream social today at 1”. 😊 Sold! I wandered around the salt water pool, through the Arts and Crafts room, the Puzzle Room and Library and lastly the Fitness Room before returning home.

Bill was up for the Ice Cream Social so I texted Nancy and Ken and we started walking to the CH at 12:45. They drove up in their golf cart and we agreed to meet there. It reminded Bill and I of Pilot Knob’s Sunday socials and the couple manning the table were just as friendly. We had 2 scoops each with the toppings and it was delicious! Nancy adamantly told us to put our $bills away. ♥

After parting ways, I bagged my towel, book, water and hat and walked back to the pool. There were a few other sunbathers and a couple of swimmers when I arrived so I found a lounge chair facing the west and settled in for a while, taking in the heat. Eventually, I slipped into the pool with my pool noodle (that’s what us retired folk do!). I spent an hour and a half before returning to the Suite and we packed a cooler with drinks. It was time for Happy Hour!

We walked to N & K’s and as a foursome, toasted to our first one this year together. 😊 The ‘kids’ got along pretty good, there were a couple of scuffles and a few amorous moments between Gibbs and Gizmo.

Nancy had put together some ‘snackadoodles’ for us adults and Gibbs got a soup bone of his own. They drove us home and we started our fish and chips right away. It was a good meal, as usual.

With dishes done, we watched some programs on our PVR, 9-1-1 and The Voice. I worked on my blog during the shows. This was a wonderful day and I got into the pool! Tomorrow, it could be some puzzles, we’ll see. By the way, after Gibbs had his supper, he literally crashed on the floor and didn't move until after 8. 💘 He sure had fun today.

Clouds Hang On, Ice Cream and Happy Hours

On Sunday, Dec. 22^nd we woke up to a cloudy day. No way was the sun going to make it through today. I was awake just after 6 and relaxed in bed until 6:45 because my snuggle bug was sound asleep and sawing a few logs. I hated to disturb him but he is a light sleeper and he heard me shut the bathroom door. I was trying to be so quiet!

We had coffee and tea together while reading some blogs and then went out for our walk. It was quite mild at 50F/10C with no wind. We did some park walking and then Bill suggested going out the entrance and around to the road behind us making a wide swoop outside the property. The problem with having my tea before I walk (and the main reason I avoid doing that) is that as we rounded the front west corner, I knew I would have to stop at the Ladies’ room before making it home.

Bill waited and we continued on with no threat of an accident!! Back home, I went on line to my personal Avon site. I need to keep my representative status active by ordering every couple of months so I try and find some of my regular stuff on sale and have it sent to my sister at home. It works well and sometimes she orders and gets her products through the winter even without me there! I give her my discount for accepting and holding them for me.

Speaking of winter, I guess yesterday was the first full day, wasn’t it? It sure is weird here, it does not feel like winter. That’s why we need our Christmas decorations, trees and lights up as early as possible. It helps us get in the spirit. We are now used to being away from the family Christmas gatherings but it doesn’t mean we don’t miss the children and grandchildren. We will call them on the special day on FB Messenger or Hangouts. Seeing their faces and/or hearing their voices are a great gift.

Bill hopped in the shower while I worked on my laptop. I finished with my Avon order and Bill worked on a job outside until we were ready for breakfast. I wasn’t excited about the puzzle up in the puzzle room, as I mentioned yesterday, so sat for a bit at home and tried to get into True Blue, the next book I’ve started. It is a David Baldacci book so I know it will be a good one.  Next time I go up to the room, I know I can start a new puzzle, if someone hasn’t already.

I had an errand to run so after making us an omelette and doing dishes, I walked up to the clubhouse to buy a couple of Christmas dinner tickets. It is filling up and we’re expecting 2 more to arrive before then.

Bill was working away outside and since it wasn’t a sunny day, I decided to bake some more. It’s addicting! So, using Cheryl’s recipe for a different kind of No-Bake Macaroons, I got the ingredients. Because of Bill’s love of his Kraft peanut butter, I bought a 4-lb jar of Kroger’s smooth p.b. to use for baking.

Today is Sunday so that means Ice Cream social day. Not sure if we are going alone as some went to Mexico for lunch and our neighbours went somewhere over the noon hour. We’ll walk up for 2 pm and see who we see. 😊 As it turned out, none of our friends were there but we met another couple who sat with us. That's how it works some times. They are from New Hampshire. We had a nice chat sharing experiences and information before it was time to say goodbye.

Deb texted at 5 to 3 about H.H. at their site so we made our drinks at home and walked back with our chairs. Dave and Cheryl wandered over but we assumed Bob and Jo-Anne hadn’t returned yet as they didn’t arrive. At a few minutes after 5, the fun ended when we all walked back to our sites. Lotsa laughs and multiple discussions about wifi, crank calls, lights, nicknames, weather forecasts, cookies and margaritas. There is never a dull moment at Happy Hour, lots of chatter.

The weather didn't quite reach its forecasted high of 64F, I think only making it to 61F. Clouds didn't let the sun through for very long at all but the wind did die down. Back home, Bill said he wasn’t too hungry and I wasn’t either but we had to eat something. So, since I’d planned only air fryer shrimp, he agreed that would work. We didn’t want salad so I cooked just enough broccoli for me. 

The shrimp was cooked in our Dash air fryer. It is a bright red colour and discussion today convinced me that she, like Madame IP, needs a name. I think it is going to have to be ‘Rosy’ since ‘Rose’ is already taken by a friend of ours. Unless I come up with something better, Rosy it is!

Our meal was quick and tasty and we cleaned up the baking dishes from earlier as well as supper dishes. Time to relax. Well, kind of. I had at least started my post for today so sat to finish that. Because Bill had completed a project today, he was also writing one. Look for it here. We watched an old movie that we’ve seen often. Home Alone always makes us laugh a few times no matter how many times we watched it.

The rest of the evening was quiet. Together, we watched some tv and I read some of my book. I won’t be too late going to bed again, probably my normal 10 pm. This was a nice busy day and we didn’t have to leave the park. I hope you’ve enjoyed your Sunday as well.
