It's the Weekend!

 Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Nov. 29th I woke up from another nice night's sleep. I felt good when I got out of bed, no complaints. I didn't get up until 7:30 though, a leisurely rising.

Good morning!
Sue taking some laundry home.

Bill was downstairs having his breakfast so I joined him and had my oatmeal. The day was quiet, my boys went for a ride around the park together and I just chilled. The puzzle was finished when I went to the clubhouse, but I wasn't surprised. I hadn't been over yesterday at all.

I wasn't there to put the last pieces in,
but I don't mind. Happy that Renee
is working on them too!

I packed it up and found another one. Still too early to do the Christmas ones (I decided that) so will work up to it.😀  It was quiet, even over in the clubhouse but time went quite quickly. At noon, Bill and I had our lunch. A cheese, meat and green pepper wrap. It was good!

Should be a cute picture.

When I went back over after lunch, I had almost finished the border of the puzzle so took my paper quilling supplies. Just enough to work on cards without taking too much over. Today was another lovely day. We started at 47F/8C and heated up from there.

I did find the 2 border pieces later
in the day.

Bill was happy to see the UPS truck today, do I even need to tell you why? He's had his eye on a new plane and has been saving for one. It was delivered today and he is tickled about getting it up and running. For Jim, it is an ARF kit, Somethin' Extra. 😃 He's had one before and liked it a lot.

Someone in my blog
asked about the root vegetables
and how I cooked them.
Found at Walmart, frozen section
and first cooked in the microwave
and then fried in butter.
Yummy,

At 4, Bill took Gibbs for his walk, his long strides versus the little puppy dog short ones is quite cute to see. They both move in sync, which means FAST. Man and his dog. *sigh* 🦮🚶‍♂️I stayed home and started my blog. By then, th temperature was an aweseome 72F/22C, clear skies.

The chops were perfect,
and the cranberry casserole too!

I didn't take pictures again today but sometimes I'm not seeing things worthy. Ha ha, For supper, Bill bbq'd pork chops and I made some rice with mushroom soup and decided on Waldorf salad instead of vegetables.  We were eating by 5:30 so we could watch a Christmas movie together.

Good night!

It has been a great day! I hope you can say the same.

I saw this earlier today
and thought it was so cute!

Thank you for stopping by.

The Weekend Ends on a High Note

The Ridge

On Sunday, July 9th Bill was up first. Gibbs slept in until 6:35 which was nice. Bill stayed up and Gibbs and I slept for another half hour. I felt like having a bowl of Life cereal this morning, so that’s what I did, while Bill had his. He was all ready to go before 8 as Black Beauty was still hooked up to the cargo trailer.

A morning walk for a change

Gibbs and I sat while I finished my tea and then I slipped on a light jacket and we went for our morning walk. I haven’t made too much of a commitment for walks lately and I’m sure Gibbs is fully aware of my absence of energy. 😊 We walked to the corner before we turned around for home. I let him off the leash to come up the lane and he walked slowly within 2 feet of me.

At least I know how to disassemble
and reassemble a dv player now. LOL

We have a new collar for Gibbs, one that only makes a sound and vibrates and only when we use the remote to do so. It isn’t a bark collar, it is a correction collar for when he strays to the far field, over the fence or wherever he is out of sight and does not respond to our call. It arrived Friday and he is the best little guy since we started using it. We only put it on him occasionally but are very impressed. He does not get a shock or a static buzz.

the drive to Gayles

So, today, one of my goals was to tidy the Bunky and I did that for about an hour. I wanted to test the old dvd player out there and when the tray wouldn’t open, I took it apart to see what the problem was. Then, 8 tiny screws later, out and then in, I was no better off. The player is toast but at least now I know. No point in it taking up space.

Gibbs was such a
good boy

It looked like it might rain but by the time Bill returned from flying, we had nothing. It was a mild enough day but not a lot of sun today at all. Bill and Gibbs dozed upstairs while I made rice pudding for supper. We were invited, along with my 2 other sisters and hubbies, to Gayle and John’s so Donna and I contributed with the dessert portion. 😊

It was a wonderful meal.

Gibbs was invited and with his collar on him, he behaved so good. We had a lovely visit and a delicious meal of roast, potatoes, turnip, carrots and corn. Yum! A true Sunday night meal. ♥ It was mainly a get together but they also wanted to share the information that they’d sold their house. Well, we all knew (sort of) but now seeing the sign, it was official. Congratulations!

As we ate, Gibbs slept under the table
I'm sure the calming effect is from the collar

We left around 8 and when we got home, Gibbs ate his supper too. It was a good day and a nice way to end it with family.

Weekend Slope, Training Session

The Ridge

It’s Friday, June 16th; no real TGIF for us now, they all feel like a weekend but we are still on the downward slope to one. We thought it was supposed to be a sunny day but when we woke and got up, it was very damp and cloudy outside. I didn’t have to go to the Mat this morning until 10:30. Sandy, my boss, asked if I would mind going in later and training a new gal for him. Kind of for me, so I can take days off. 😊

Last night, as the sun began its departure
it was a pretty sky

I’d asked if he could bring Beth (the winter gal) in on Tuesday, my regular cleaning day. Since Bill is off, we are planning a few days away and we are looking forward to it very much. Not with the Suite, just the 3 of us in Ptooties. More on that news later. So, when Sandy called yesterday, he explained that Beth isn’t too keen on working at the Mat during the winter months in my absence so his own office secretary (from his plumbing business) has offered.

I met Alison in town and I took her through the steps. She is young, maybe mid 30’s, and I know she picked things up quickly. What’s the saying? It isn’t rocket science. 😉 After about 30 minutes, I ‘released’ her so she could go to the office, no point in her following me around while I cleaned. Nice gal. She will also fill in for my absence during Ladyfest in August.

Bill found my finch feeder and some niger  seed in the Suite's
small compartment at the back so I filled that, filled a hummer
feeder, since the Orioles and Hummers are still around
and when we came inside, Gibbs crashed. 💖
Bless his little canine heart!

I stopped at Foodland for a few more ‘out ofs’ and scooted home. Bill had dumped the black tank and was working on the tire of the Blue Boy/honey wagon. It has a faulty tube so will need to be replaced, making the ‘pull’ back and forth easier. We had some b & e for lunch and then when he went back out to finish up, I vacuumed the Suite. Gibbs managed to get out of the way whenever I got too close. He used to bark at it, now he just avoids it.

Another cute picture to create

We all went out, done with the chores, and I started a new puzzle. This will be fun too! Gibbs was very good, sticking close to the Bunky, the patio chair and down to check on Daddy but when we came in around 4, tea time, he was more than anxious to ‘go in the house’. ♥ He was asleep on the back of my chair almost immediately. Bless his little heart.

I made my tea and started today’s post before sitting with a new book. Yes, I finished ‘I Found You’ last night at 11:30. I couldn’t put it down so stayed up for that reason alone. LOL Good thing I was able to sleep in this morning until 7:30. 😊 This one is called The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena and it is another page turner already!

the sun was out, off and on, throughout the afternoon
but with the winds, it still felt chilly.
We only reached a high of 17C/63F again today
but the weekend looks better!

We had leftover meatloaf for supper with a garden salad with the addition of my home-grown spinach plus stove top stuffing. I think just the salad and meat would have been enough for me. I don’t seem to have much of an appetite lately and get full quickly. After cleanup and the dishwasher was running, Bill went to the Hangar and Gibbs and I sat to finish my post. Without him sitting behind me, I don’t know if I could manage!

I know I didn't grow it from seed (are you kidding?)
but I'm taking credit for it anyway. 😂

We have one more night of leftover meatloaf.
It used to last us only 2 meals but we've been
eating less and rationing more - and not starving!

On that note:
Good night!

This was a good day and the weekend is upon us. Thank you for stopping in. Your comments are always welcome!

Closing out the Weekend

La Posa South, Quartzsite, Az Sunday, Jan. 16th we started out for our walk at 7:45. I dropped off again after Gibbs and Bill came back to bed so we were late! 😊 We walked on a more familiar route today, no more getting ‘lost’ for this gal! Ha ha. On the walk, I gave directions to both the water station and the dump station this morning to two different rv’ers. I didn’t see a sticker on either vehicle but I wasn’t there to regulate who came in and who used what. I was just in the right place at the right time for them to flag me down and ask.
The sunrise between the Stinger 'B' and the Reflection
Shadows of my little buddy and I
There was no wind this morning Gibbs got another ‘what a cute little dog!’ before we returned back at home base. Well, I have to agree, he is in our mind too. ♥ Bill was up and had made his coffee without the generator running so I made my tea. The batteries had been charged to about 12.2 amps this morning when we got up so with the clear blue sky, it wouldn’t take long to boost their power.
Contrary to popular belief, there are trees in the desert. :)
We sat inside together and after my tea, I went up for my shower. My hair felt quite dirty and was really bugging me so a shower freshened me up like new! I took Gibbs out at the same time that Bill was leaving to go flying and with coffee in hand, that excited pup knocked my coffee out of my hand! Woops! He immediately started licking it up which was too successful since it flows right through our Seabreeze mat.
Found another bottle, Mom! However, I sometimes add (and today I did) a bit of my Chocolatini liquor because I can and that wouldn’t be good for him, even trace amounts. So, I got a cup of water and doused the area much to his disappointment. ☹ I made myself a second cup and we sat outside together for quite a long time. I think it was 10 when he left and we were still out when he returned at noon. I do love these cuddle moments with Gibbs on my lap as he watches everything around us. div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
This is the wind generator system we were watching being installed yesterday Nancy popped over with her book and we shred a bit more of each other’s life stories and neglected the books altogether! I’m enjoying this opportunity for getting to know her better. 😊 I made bacon and poached eggs on toast for lunch and after dishes, there was even more sitting around outside in the heat of the day.
It was a lovely 73F/22C in the shelter of our patio. The non-existent breeze from first thing morning had taken root and increased producing some gusts to 13 mph.
My star entertainer hogged the camera today
Tom and Deb stopped by before heading off to Q at 3:30 and Nancy disappeared inside her Reflection with Cooper to watch football.
By then the air had cooled enough to call it a day so we also came indoors. I know our friends and family back home will be thinking ‘what wimps!’ but it is surprising how quickly the air temp changes within a short period of time. Our evenings and overnights are still dropping to 60F/16C and 44F/6C respectively, too cool for shorts and a t-shirt.
Fish and chips tonight and I’ll have 2 appliances running so Bill started the generator. The clouds moved in after 2:30 so our batteries went from 13.8 to 12.5 pretty quickly after that. Supper was good, I was not behaving with my food choice though and had fries. Tsk tsk. We kept an eye on the beautiful sunset tonight and noticed that Deb and Nancy were also out doing the same thing. It was worth the interruptions in our meal prep. 😊
The sky went through multiple changes in colour. So much for the space station sighting, which I received an email about. It indicated we’d see it flyover at 6:30 pm. We think they messed up with my location, time or something as Bill watches it LIVE and it was over Africa at 6:30 when it was supposed to be here. Puzzler, so I emailed them and asked for clarification. After dishes, I worked on my blog and we turned the tv on for some evening entertainment.
This was a pretty quiet day. We’ve had new neighbours arrive behind us, at a nice distance, and the regular one who has taken either his truck or Journey motor home across Nancy’s ‘back yard’ nearly every day since we arrived. With all the space in the desert, we can’t figure people out who drive so close. As Deb says, we don’t walk that close to other rv setups but who are we to figure them out?
The moon was not quite a full moon but tomorrow night it will be.
While Tom was barbecuing, the sun added shades of pink to the Stinger 'B'. Good night! I hope you enjoyed your Sunday as the weekend moves on for another seven days. Thank you for popping by! Your comments are always appreciated.

Our Weekend Starts Quietly, Snowfall, Hallmark Movies

Paisley, On

Bill and I were up shortly after 7 on Saturday, Dec. 19th. I felt quite rested so it was another good night’s sleep. We brought our morning brew upstairs. I felt like some cereal and he had some toast so we had an early breakfast together. The weekends are the only time we can do that right now, since we’ve gone back to work again. Yup, retired my foot. Ha ha 😊

Shall we walk along the river?

We are both looking forward to some time off together. Well, Bill will get the week between Christmas eve day and New Years Day off from his work and I’ll take Christmas Day and New Years’ Day off from the Mat. He will likely come with me for the mornings that I do go that through that period. Nothing is in stone and I can always take a few more days off if something interesting comes up.

Yes, we shall!

We had a lazy morning and puttered around upstairs. I mopped ALL the floors in our room (ha ha) while he read his book. There is the bathroom, the closet and our main living area. I moved our things that sit on the floor in order to do a thorough job. I can tell Bill is hooked on the J.A. Jance story; they are quite addictive. The book I’m reading isn’t as exciting as Bourne’s movies but it is keeping me turning the pages.

I wondered if the green grass around the tree base would pop in this photo
but it is losing the battle to the white blanket

I also did a fair bit of crocheting today too, should be finishing up the project soon enough. The last ball of yarn is almost gone so then I’ll be done. We both did a fair bit of online surfing, some of it just going through our own pictures but most time passers. I could hear my tummy grumbling around 12 noon and wasn’t surprised because cereal is just a bowl of empty carbs. The only thing really good is the cream. 😊

This one pops!
An empty campsite waits for spring as we do

So, we went down and I opened a can of pea soup, one of my favourites. Habitant has always made a good split pea soup but it isn’t anything Bill likes. Therefore, I had a bowl and put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow. He made himself a sandwich and was just as happy. Earlier, some time in there between all that busy-ness, I had my shower. I don’t need to do any more baking today even though the shortbread cookies are all gone. We’ll give it a rest for a few days.

Obvious trails of snow machines
Someone is enjoying the snow

Around 1:30, I got dressed and headed out for a walk. It had started snowing before lunch hour but light fluffies, nothing that was really sticking to anything. It was mild at 2C/36F and they were more like rain flurries than anything. At least that is what seemed to be hitting my glasses as I walked. I went down along the river and could see a few more ice floes floating to the west before making my way through the back streets to the south and up to the main street again.

One store at the corner near the Go-Co Gas Bar & Variety store was having an indoor garage sale but I had no cash on me so there was no need to go in. Just on Saturday’s by the look of it. Back home, after 2 miles, I grabbed a Zero Coke for Bill and a diet Gingerale for me and came upstairs. My bookworm was stretched out on the bed and getting really close to finishing another book.

I walked to the edge of the bank when I saw
this unique formation of snow and ice
Just 'hanging' there
Soon, it will break up if this mild weather stays for a few days

We dozed for a little over half hour and when we woke were happy to hear that Sweet Pea (next door’s pooch) had stopped barking. I hope she’s alright, as looking out the window I see that they aren’t home yet. It’s a wonder that little dog isn’t hoarse from barking all afternoon. ☹ We were fortunate that Clemson wasn’t a barker and if he had been, we’d have done what we could to break the habit when we were away.

I see a family of bear across the lane
Ssssh! :)

For supper, we had some of the big sausage I’d bought on Thursday. We had hash brown potatoes and vegetable so a traditional type of meal. When we went down we were surprised to see that we were alone in the house but found a note that our landlords had gone out. We later learned they had called up to us but with our Christmas music playing and noses in our books, we didn’t hear them.

And further down, someone has renovated
and joined a park model home with their sticks and bricks
It is actually attached

Throughout our meal we watched the last half of a movie Bill had seen previously and thought I would enjoy. When it finished and after dishes, we moved directly into the games room to watch the 7:00 Hallmark movie. It was comfy in there tonight and I had my blanket over my knees. This movie wasn’t too bad, it improved in the second half.

The cherries made a nice 'sweet' addition
to my cheesecake

I was feeling tired so when Wes and Susan returned and told us they’d be watching the 9:00 movie upstairs, knowing that I liked the main character, I decided to sit in there with the ‘group’ and watch it too. Wow! 2 ½ half Hallmark movies is way over my limit but these were enjoyable enough for me to stay awake. 😊 There are two more on Sunday night but I think I’ll stay in our room and read/crochet and/or watch a dvd.

The snow didn’t seem to last or if it did, it was light enough not to be a hindrance. Susan mentioned that the roads weren’t bad at all. Being it was 11 pm when the movie ended, we both crawled straight into bed. Hence, the late blog posting. It was a nice easy day for us and we enjoyed the quiet time together.
