Right Back at It - No Rest for..........you know.

The Ridge

On Monday, Sept. 14th I woke up hearing Bill moving around downstairs. I never heard him get up with Gibbs at 5:45, so I slept well my first night home. I felt warm and soon discovered Bill had turned the furnace on for a couple of rotations.

Good morning!
Yup, still going although the
slugs got to this one first.
Bill kept up the tally in my absence.💕

Boy! I'm getting slack in writing but I knew I didn't have to work this morning and I was very tired when I went to bed. I sorted laundry after Bill left for work at 6:45. They are starting at a job in Port Elgin, right next to Alan's Fireside Grill, where us ladies had supper a couple of nights!

I feel I am being blessed by this
Angel this morning.
Isn't she beautiful?

I took my time getting into town, arriving after 7:30 and the Mat was empty. Ron had emptied two full washing machines on Saturday (he cleaned while I was away) of clothes that were left. He dried them and put them in Lost and Found. My first job was to sort and empty that.

Another lovely pond picture
on my way to town.

There were probably 20 pair of socks, whether they matched? 🤷‍♀️ I didn't check. They'd been there the whole week, Ron said. Anything decent went into a bag either for our exchange or Rethreads down town. The socks were disposed of.

My loads were in two machines and I went about work. Already, 30 minutes had passed. One of my regulars came in to do his load of laundry and we chatted while I worked. He has a hearing issue so it was a bit challenging, having to stop work and repeat but he's a very pleasant man.

This new gravel is important
but when the grader isn't finished,
it is tricky getting by them through
this 6" pile of gravel in the centre.

From the Mat, I drove to Foodland, Bill was almost out of milk and bread so I picked some up and went further to see Mark for 2 bottles of water. He has not had a working machine for over a week. Today was no different and I know he is quite frustrated as his customers are having to go elsewhere for ice as well. Hopefully, tomorrow.🤞

The Blacksmith's bnb
is still my favourite.

I mentioned that Robin texted about cleaning and I had the 'when' she texted messed up. It was this morning she asked while I was in town so I quickly decided to dry our clothes right there. I had time but it meant I wasn't home until after 9:30. The bnb was empty but I still didn't get there until 11:30.

On my way home from Williamsford,
this erratic driver caused me concern.
He passed me as I was doing 90 (in an 80),
had to brake for this Suburban all the way to
Durham. Talk about tailgating!
I'm debating calling the business, it was
awful!

Her guests, I don't know how many had stayed but they left the place very nice. Btw, our host at Southampton left a review for Gayle, that the sisters left her home in really clean condition too. 😀 I did do a sweep through before we left and Cathy swept the back door entrance.

We walked to get the Canadian Tire flyer

Gayle sent a special note to her informing her that her cleaner needs to pay attention to the 'under bed and dresser' locations. Dust bunnies lived there and we each found a couple of toys that weren't ours. 😉 We gave her a few suggestions too, easy ones that would have been nice.

We have discussed next year and already booked one of Robin's places, so that is something off our minds. Settled early with a cancellation clause, of course. When I returned from cleaning the bnb, I felt kind of run off my feet, which is an exaggeration, but you get my drift.

Gord next door is building us a table/hutch for under our back window, where our couch was. It will be multi-useful for both of us! This is in repayment for Bill painting their basement apartment rooms for them. It will be very nice for us.

Gibbs thought he heard someone
at the end of the lane, I'm sure.
He waited and then decided he
needed a tummy rub.
Tail wagging, he waited for me.

Knowing that he said it would be by this weekend, I had to clear my craft mess out. 🤭 It took 3 loads in and out to the Bunky to clear my folding table off. The Bunky is very crammed right now too but it will get organized soon. We only have 5 weeks before we pull out of here!

The remainder of the day was filled by a walk to get mail with Gibbs, a bit of random weeding and going through my closets once more. Sunday is our clothing exchange at Joanne's and I always 'try' to get rid of unworn and unwanted items.

A carb filled supper but
so good! I've broken my rule
often this past week!

Bill was home by 4:30 and he caught up on the fuel purchases for both vehicles in Quicken (ouch!). The ladies and I split the fuel cost for Cathy and my cars and it was surprisingly low for all the driving around we did. I was pleased.

For supper, we had a Swanson chicken stir fry, a one pot meal and quite easy and tasty for a change. Bill cleaned up the pot and the evening was spent in front of the tv. I had a hard time keeping my eyes open but I did watch a movie with an older Michael Douglas called Looking through Water. It was good.

Chapman's black cherry ice cream
hit the spot.
Good night!

Bed was at 10 and I dropped off immediately. I will get back on track with my writing, I really do appreciate all of my readers and commenters! It was a nice day, cooling off by late afternoon again but good for sleeping. Fall is around the corner!

Thank you for stopping by.

Time to Leave, The Last Brunch

The Birches to The Ridge

It was another later morning for me on Sunday, Sept. 13th but I still was not last. My blog was completed last night so my morning was free to finish packing. We can all be quite organized when it is necessary but with a smaller house, we did manage to have an organized chaos all week.

Good morning!
Our last day begins

With checkout at noon, we played another common game of Scrabble (for the record, I was near the bottom for each one. Mom used to say 'sucking the hind tit' 🤭🤣 from our farm days), had our morning brews and yogourt and set up for a group photo.

Cathy takes her turn in Scrabble.
Donna in the background waiting.

Audrey and I have the tripods. She has pictures to share with our group as well. We washed our beach towels last night and our host has asked us to begin the wash for our towels. We plan to write a united review. So, we were all ready (and a bit anxious to see our men) so checked out at 11:30.

Audrey and I testing our
camera set up.

The plan was to go to a new place called Armen's Cafe for brunch but it was only open Tues. to Sat. Good grief! So much for that, so we walked back to The Lighthouse but on Sunday, it is where everyone and his brother goes so no room there. Ten tables ahead of us. LOL

Okay, plan C was to drive in our 2 vehicles as far as Paisley and see if we could get in there. Woohoo! Steph made it happen for us and we went upstairs for our meal. Most of us, had chicken quesadillas and we were on our way shortly after 2 pm after hugs every which way.

Ptooties loaded to the hilt
for 3 of us.

Donna, Audrey and I carried on in Ptooties and arrived at Donna's home within 30 minutes or so. More hugs and good byes and I felt a little silly riding by myself for the rest of the way to the Ridge. 🤭 Felt like I was forgetting something (one). It was another awesome day, could have been a beach day!

This was our usual venue,
The Lighthouse but they were backed up
today!

Bill and Gibbs greeted me with hugs and kisses, Gibbs being a little noisier than my Sweetie. 🤣 Donna forgot something (well, the 3 of us did) in my cooler so the 4 of them (A,T,G,D) drove out to pick it up so the leftover could be someones supper meal.

The Paisley Common's quesadilla
was top notch.
I ate it all!

Bill made himself a couple of bacon and egg sandwiches as I wasn't too hungry. I finished my half Reuben and that was quite enough for me. I thik I've gained (!) Miss Piggy, so will wait and see what the scales say tomorrow. I won't be telling!

Cuddles with Gibbs

Yes, I'm talking about you
💖

We watched the next episode of Reacher, Bill went upstairs and I chose to find a movie called The Words downstairs rather than finish my blog. Sorry, on a busy day, I just don't have it in me to sit at my laptop.

And look who is cooking his
supper. He does very well on his own
when I'm away. I don't need to worry.
💕

Robin texted to see if I could clean on Monday and because Ron started cleaning the Mat on the wrong day, I have that to do in the morning as well as laundry.

It looks like rain to the north of us.

I think that catches me up! A wonderful warm day until late afternoon when it cooled off quite a bit.

Together again.
💘
Good night!

Thank you for the visit! I hope you also enjoyed Ladyfest! 🤭 That's a wrap for another year!
