The Ridge
It was 8 am on Thursday, Sept. 10th when I got up. Wow! A good sleep but still only 8 hours so my norm. The girls were all up before me today and Audrey had started the puzzle Gayle found at Salvation Army yesterday.

Good morning!
Another puzzle done
We worked away at it with our morning brew(s) and 3 of us had our showers before making a huge dent in the puzzle. Funny way to say it, we actually added to it. 🤠We had pretty much decided to go to The Lighthouse for breakfast/lunch and we left at noon.
We all have early nibbles; yogourt, fruit and cheese with our tea and coffee so we're not starving by any means. It was a nice brunch, I had an Abner skillet (2 eggs on top of hashbrowns and ham) with sour dough toast. It was quite a lot, filling and half of it came home with me.

At Denny's Dam, this was close to the entrance.
If you zoom in, you'll see all the
carved creatures.
Adorable!
From there, I drove us to find a recommendation from Cathy and her hubby, Bill. Denny's Dam with the Fish Ladder was something we thought would be interesting to see.

A nice little walk along the
river
It was a nice place to explore, once we found it ðŸ¤ðŸ˜‰, and although we saw no fish ladder, we saw fishermen and a fisher-woman and the dam. Another photo opportunity.
We returned home for a couple of hours, relaxed at the puzzle and went to the Elk and Finch for our dinner meal tonight. First disappointment of the week. Being told that because we made no reservation, they only had one chef and it would be 45 min. to an hour for our food. (!)
My meal was good, the huge burger was more than I could finish, the cream of cauliflower w/grainy mustard soup was delicious but it was indeed an hour before we received our food and the waitress was flippant 🤷♀️when a justified comment was made about being disappointed in the liver.

Selfies as long as there is something to set it on. 😂
We paid, got it off our chests on the drive home (🫣) and would not recommend the place for dining. We should have read the reviews before we went. Live and learn. It filled us.

We walked to see the 1954 Hurricane Hazel crash site I was 2 weeks old!
Bedtime was before 10:30 as we were all tired. Sitting in a restaurant, waiting, does that! It was a nice day. It felt cooler only because we had little sunshine throughout.

I might be looking for his book to read
We've had many delightful conversations with 'people' wherever we've gone so one meal is not a discouragement.

No recommendation from our group for this place. 🤷♀️ Good night!
Thank you for popping in! I've had a great day.

No reading list again today, silly Blogger!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame the meal and service was so poor. I suspect the waitress doesn't deal well with any type of confrontation and reacts poorly. There are what, 5 or 6 of you...I don't think that number should overwhelm a kitchen. Definitely consider doing a review.
Blogger can be a pain for sure.
DeleteYes, we are all doing a review.........and our fault, should have read the ones already on their site. 🤔
