First Things First, Are you Lost?

Park Place RV Resort

On Saturday, Nov. 1st we, ahem, I was up earlier than I'd planned to be. Not that I plan any time special time to get up when down here but I thought after going to bed at 10:30 and finding my boys sound asleep, that I would at least be in dreamland until 7.

Good morning!

Not so. It was 6 and I seemed wide awake. Bill was up with Gibbs a few minutes earlier and he stayed downstairs. Pension pay day for us, so he was doing some banking. I did my usual stretches and came down at 6:30.

I did two loads of light coloured laundry this morning at 7, Bill carried the basket over for me. He left for the field to meet up with some of his flying friends. He's happy to be back for that reason too. That was the first job of the day done.

Here are those 2 cuties again.
trick or treat!

Speaking of jobs, we have news. When we arrived yesterday, the managers of the park approached us about the possibility of being volunteers over winter. They have 2 hosts, Bette and then Angie and Rusty.

Gibbs never changes
Such a sweetheart

Over the last few months there have been some medical issues for them and Sue and Fred were working alone most of the summer. They'd like to know they have someone reliable as a back up to cover for their current host's medical appointments etc.

Bill and I discussed it and decided if we could step in this winter, we're happy to help and I think it will be good for us/me to learn something new. Bill is a worker and although he'll possibly miss a few days of flying a week, he can be available if needed.

I've never seen the White Oleander
in such blooming glory!

Bill returned home just as I was finishing up watching an hour long (interrupted by laundry) YouTube video about Quartzsite during the 2 weeks of the rv show here in January. For someone who doesn't know much about this lifestyle, you might enjoy it. This is the link:

Bill took care of a few jobs; fixing the fridge water line that got damaged with the last tire blow out, adding screws to a couple of our new pot lights that were a tad smaller than the holes and taking his 'living room' plane (heh heh) outside.

Now that his plane is outside, the table is set up and ready
for my craft containers.

Inside, I vacuumed up that area, allowing me to clean out and rearrange the upper cupboards. They got quite jumbled on our route. It was then we noticed a lost lady, wandering aimlessly through sites and in the park. Bill approached her when he saw her looking in the truck windows. ??

I chatted with Sue about her and we were both concerned. I walked out, found her, walked around the park getting what info I could and then brought her back to the office.

Sue followed up and we discovered that she has some form of dimentia and belongs to the Arizona Sun park behind us. Her husband and their staff were out looking for her too. 😞 Sad, I know all too well about that situation and am thankful Sue was able to find her 'home'. She was quite confused.

I'm sure I've done this one
before but it isn't like that helps
this time.

Bill had a teeny snooze, and then went out to empty and reorganize Black Beauty's box. He needs room to move speakers for the club and I'm sure he wanted to get his hands on those planes again too. 😉

I went to work on the puzzle that Rusty started a couple of weeks ago (!) and Sue puts the occasional piece in. I haven't lost my touch. Ha ha. Back home at 4, I made a cup of tea and began to get my own addiction out from under the bed. I've missed quilling.

Gibbs and I went for a walk
around the park before it was time
to start supper.

For supper, we had air fried chicken thighs, split a couple of potatoes and corn. It turned out really tasty and we were cleaned up by 6:30. I missed the sunset again but without clouds it was not quite the performance I love anyway.

You have to know his Daddy
was out there!

It has been a great day here in the Q, 93F/30C but another pleasant evening. We turned the a/c off and opened windows.

Supper was good,
the chicken was cooked perfectly
for a change! haha
Good night!

Thank you for popping in.

  1. Hope it works out being back up camp host and hope you get some perks. Some folks we know were hosts for two summers and they shared some stories with us after they left the park. Some good and some funny and sometimes an ornery one.
Enjoy your camp hosting winter season and a hug to Gibbs.

    1. Thank you Patti. That's why we thought it was a blessing in disguise. Bill will survive, he wanted to do it more than I did!

  6. I know for certain you'll both do a great job of hosting. It's also a great way to get to know most everyone in the park!
Thanks goodness, you and Sue were able to locate the woman's family. I hate to think what may have happened had she wandered further into the desert.
Gibbs and his seated position always makes me giggle!

  7. Enjoy the challenge of being a park host and I am sure you both will do a great job. That poor lady. I am so glad that you and Sue were able to help out. Wandering into the desert would not be very good for her.

    God bless.

    1. Thank you Jackie, I hope they are pleased. :)
As for Sandra, the lost lady, she had no hat, no cell phone, no clue really where she belonged. I had run home to give her one of my straw hats and when I returned Sue had found her home/husband/park. Thank the good Lord.,

  8. Parks should have people wear medical alert bands with their address or a phone #...
