A Relaxing Day

On Friday, Dec. 20^th it was at the top of the 7^th hour when I got up and moving. Waiting only a few minutes, I was dressed for my walk. Yesterday’s steps, in Mexico, were a bit pathetic, not meeting my goal so I was anxious to get out and stretch my legs. It was a pleasant enough 45F/7C but I had to return for my windbreaker.

Good morning!

The sky was mostly clear but there were some low-riding clouds on the eastern horizon to start the day. I enjoyed the walk and I still beat the sun rise. Bill and Duncan left for the flying field and Gibbs and I sat together to have my tea and play my games. He’s a big help with drinking my tea (if I’m not looking) but not so much with the word games. 😊

I better continue with this over the next day or two
so I can start the Christmas one!

Then I had my shower and when my hair was sufficiently dry (it doesn’t take long!) Gibbs and I went for his walk. He walks pretty good these days, mostly calling the shots which way we go. He’s in charge on these walks. ♥ Back home, I nipped over to the clubhouse with a poinsettia for Bette. She was on duty today again and we wanted to thank her for her attentiveness to Gibbs.

I worked on the puzzle until noon and got a few pieces in. Not sure if it will done on time for me to start Sue’s Christmas suggestion but I’m trying! There is just too much other interesting stuff going on. OR……the weather is too nice and I want to be outside instead. Bill and I had our lunch and I put a skort and summer top on and sat in my gravity chair in the sun on Walt’s site.

I managed to finish my Michael Connelly book – finally! Harry Bosch made me proud, as usual. 😊 I skipped the bike ride, by now it was 78F/25C and plenty warm. I still have to work at biking, until I’m used to it, so didn’t want to be uncomfortable. I do have that choice. Ha ha. The other day, I borrowed Walt’s step ladder and washed the east-facing windows in the afternoon so today, did the same on the west-facing side in the morning. Now we can see out again. One day, I’ll time it right to get the big back window too.

We joined Patty and Duncan for H.H. on their patio and then came home around 5 for supper. I had taken Gibbs out for his afternoon walk before Happy Hour so he didn’t want to go too far in the heat either. Tomorrow, he gets a groom so will feel cooler without his furry coat. ♥ We had toasted western/omelettes for supper and they were good, good, good, good, gooooood! 😊 (if any of you watch the ventriloquist, Jeff Dunham, one of his puppets – Peanut – says that) He’s my favourite.

I found the keto bread at Sam’s Club yesterday in a pack of two so was just thrilled about that! It isn’t the seeded variety but it feels fresh and only 1 total gram of carbs.

Quick and easy, these were filling.

We cleaned up the dishes and although Sue had a fire going tonight over at the pit, we opted to just stay put. Unless, I choose to walk over after I finish here. Bill finished a blog post tonight so you can check it out here to see what he’s been up to in his world.

A Chilly Change, A Relaxing Day

On Tuesday, Dec. 10^th I was up by 7 and because it was only 44F/6C with a bit of a chilly wind, I wore my toque and poufy white vest. Not only would I be warm but I would be more visible than in my black wind breaker. 😊 It was a pleasant walk, getting back just as the sun rose over the east mountains. They could be the New Water Mountains but I’m not positive and it doesn't really matter.

Pop, pop, pop

I had my tea back at home and then Gibbs and I went out again, around his block. At 9:30, I dressed down by de-layering and walked with Patty and Debbie around the big block. It’s the first time the 3 of us did that but not the last. My steps are adding up, almost 10,000, over 2 miles. 

I like my daily average
and don't need to push any harder.

My hair is getting unruly and yet because I care what Bill thinks about it, I just took a couple of inches off the back, rather than trim the layers. It looks much neater.♥

I thought I’d take my book out to read in the gazebo but even though in the sun, the wind was circling in there giving me a chill. I came in with Bill and Gibbs and read a few chapters before it was lunch time. Bill had his ham and cheese sandwich and I had a quesadilla with whatever I could find suitable. It was loaded and messy! We cleaned up and I walked over to the clubhouse to start a new puzzle.  

This was another of mine brought from home.

   The border went together easily but I dare not say anything else in case I jinx it. I worked on it until about 3 and walked back home. I had a bit of a headache, which reminded me that I had an unsettled sleep last night. I woke at 12:50 thinking I’d been asleep for many more hours than 3! Again at 4ish, something had me awake and tossing and turning. No explanation because there were dreams in there too. 😊

Shouldn't take too long.

I felt chilled today so other than taking Gibbs for his walk at 4:30, I was happy to stay home and skip Happy Hour. I think Patty and Duncan felt the same way, although we could have gathered indoors, as they remained inside too. Sometimes, it just isn’t necessary to get together every day. I had my tea and was cozy in the Suite. Bill was online watching videos until I started prepping supper.

Yup, thought so.

Pork ribs in Madame IP with potatoes and a vegetable on the side. They were fall off the bone tender so she did a perfect job. If it wasn’t dark by the time they finished, I would have lit the Weber to brown them a bit but Bill said they were just as good the way they were. We finished up the last 3 dinner rolls but I have another 6 or 8 in the freezer for another meal. We can take two out at a time.

Fall off the bone 

This was a great day. We only had a high temperature of 63F/17C, which isn’t bad at all, just about 7 degrees lower than it has been. It makes a huge difference! The wind was from the northwest between 5 and 8mph at its peak and it was cool.

So sad to hear that Al's Kelly passed away today. (thank you Mary for the update). May she rest in peace, a hard fought battle that she just couldn't win. 😢 Sorry for your loss, Al. I hope you are able to take Pheebs to say goodbye.

A Bit of Both, A Few Errands

Today, Thursday, Aug. 8^th, my day was filled with a bit of work outside the home, a bit inside the home and a bit of relaxing. Bill was up at 6 and on the road to work by 7:15. Gibbs and I watched him go and then I made my tea and headed for town to clean the Mat. Ptooties needed a fuel fill up so I was happy the price had dropped 4¢ overnight. "Slurp!", she was thirsty!

I wasn’t there long and the little Newfie (he doesn’t mind that handle) arrived at the front door. He already walks with a walker but today he was fighting to get in the door. I helped as best I could to reach around the laundry laden walker to hold the door and he told me fell and euchered his hip. Anyway, he put his laundry in and then walked across to the gas station for scratch tickets. LOL I guess he’s okay. 😊

Another first-time customer came in and asked for assistance/opinion on a few things. Nice man. I see more men in there than women, which I find interesting. It’s probably like a 3:1 ratio. I finished up and drove to Foodland and then to fill our water bottle at Battery Pro/Water Store. When I returned home, it had warmed up so I opened windows.

stand quite well. Don't put my front paws in though, Mom. 💗

I know he'll just lick himself dry.
Oh dear. I massaged the itch spray into his tummy and
will keep watch today.

I had planned on making cheesecake but decided to wait until after lunch, instead I created an Epsom salt bath for Gibbs. He has been scratching his tummy a fair bit so I wanted to see if this helped. Then I read some of my book. It will be finished today, come hook or crook! 😊 I fried up the last of my keto bread and took the advice from one of my readers. I ate 3 pieces and put the rest in a freezer bag. Thanks for that tip!

I made Instant Pot Cheesecake but found I had to substitute some yogourt for sour cream and then again for 1/3 cup of cream cheese. Geesh! I thought I had enough ingredients. They were acceptable substitutions according to Google so it should still taste okay. For supper, I figured, since it isn’t supposed to rain until after 7, to have barbecued sausages. A bun sounds good so I may have one too.

Gibbs and I were in and out a few times, each time my book went with me and a few more chapters got read. Bill was home by 4:30 and we relaxed until it was time to start grilling. The clouds had moved in but no precipitation forecasted now until 10. 😊 The sausages were good and filling. Bill had a piece of the cheesecake and gave it a thumbs up.

After the few dishes, I finished my blog and turned the tv on. Last night, I watched Miss Virginia, a movie recommended to me by my sister, Cathy. It was heartwarming, heart wrenching too but a good watch. Many are based on true stories so that makes them a bit more interesting. If you like Maggie Smith (Lady Grantham from Downton Abbey), The Lady in the Van is good.

This has been a good day, warmed up nicely to 24C/75F, with a slight breeze. Did you get the kind of day you wanted?

Dull but Mild and Very Relaxing

On Thursday, Apr. 11^th we slept in. I mean, really slept in! Bill didn’t move until almost 7:00 and that is when Gibbs decided he was ready to get up. They went out and because it was wet and possibly raining a bit, they were back in pretty quickly. They both returned to the comfort of our bed and Bill dropped off almost immediately. I woke 3 times in the next hour and finally got up around 8:15!

Bill remained where he was, with Gibbs (ever watchful and aware of both of us) at his back, near the edge of the bed. 😊 I opened blinds, made my tea and called the day for what it was. A wet, dull, inside kind of day. Sometimes it is the only way to get people to slow down, we all need days like this. So, we relaxed. It was raining off and on all morning, so we settled inside with our phones, books and/or laptops.

And when it stopped raining,

We had sandwiches for lunch and discussed our plans for the next couple of days. It would be nice to visit the air museum in Dayton but it would make for another long day, 1 ½ hours drive one way, time in the museum and the drive home. I suggested Bill go on his own, so Gibbs wouldn’t be alone, he wants to see the Memphis Belle so badly, but he decided to wait for another time. I’m glad, because I would kind of like to see it too, after seeing the movie a few times with him.

We chatted back home with my former auto-body boss (yes, former, I’m not working for him this summer), and then Bill went up to watch a movie while I took Gibbs for his walk.

Lots of puddles for his little feet and yet he is very good at going around them. The grass, which I’m sure feels good to him, was not avoided though. 😊 He gets his feet wiped when he comes and lets us do that, one at a time, in perfect order.

I’m almost finished my book so will sit this afternoon and work on that after getting a head start on my blog. It’s a quiet day so not much to bore you with. For supper, a large chicken breast to share, mashed potatoes, asparagus and corn are on the menu. We have one piece of cheesecake each to finish off so that should fill us quite nicely!

So, This is Relaxing!

Port Lambton, Ontario

Gibbs and I started our Tuesday, June 20^th with a walk down St. Clair Parkway. It was a lovely morning already at 7:15 when we slipped out. He slept in, which meant we mostly all slept in until 6:20. 😊 We had a comfortable sleep in their Lance and a peaceful one. Of course, I had my ear plugs in so my sleeps are usually peaceful.

Loree texted me about a coffee for Bill and re-directed my walking route in a very gentle way. I couldn’t remember which way to turn at the end of the lane and chose the wrong direction in order to find the park she mentioned. So, easy enough, we turned back and found it across from the school. I thought Gibbs would at least step into the water, he’s so enthralled with our pond’s edge – but no, he was too busy sniffing at the grasses and weeds.

Back home, Loree announced that breakfast was ready and she had cinnamon buns, mini sausages, and bananas and that hit the spot very nicely! Bill and Ron took a drive around the area while Loree and I sat with the pooches. It was thrilling when we were eating to see a Viking cruise ship meandering on by. That’s a rare occasion, Loree said. 😊

They’d decided on leftover lasagna for lunch so when the boys returned, we came inside to eat. After dishes, we went to the FRONT yard, which I’ve been calling the back yard, to visit some more and enjoy each other’s stories. They have beautiful big trees, maple and a couple of others I’m not sure of what they are, but they offer wonderful shade. I’m not a shade person, persay, but after a suitable time in the sunshine on the deck, I moved to the yard and sat under those trees.

The day was hot and the dogs were hot so when Loree and Ron took Reggie indoors, I put Gibbs in the trailer with the a/c running. It was nice in there now; after stepping into what felt like a sauna earlier, I’d turned it on. 😉  It wasn’t long after that Bill joined him for a snooze and I read my book and dozed a bit in the gravity chair outside. When teeny flying bugs pestered too much, we all came back inside for a rest before supper.

My book, Acceptable Loss by Anne Perry, isn’t grabbing my attention – yet – but I’ve only gotten through the first ‘hard’ 3 chapters and not ready to give up. I’m still trying to find my footing in the story as I’m sure it will turn out to be a good one. Supper was cheeseburgers and they were delicious, even more so because we just had to sit and eat them, no cooking involved! Thank you, R & L. ♥ This is a real treat being here.

The wifi here is not what we’re used to but it depends on where you plant yourself. At least in the rv, I am able to get connected enough to post a blog. And Bill too! Check his out here. I haven’t been too regular playing my Wordle games but my family and friends understand that I’m ‘out of the office’. Ha ha. 😊 We chatted around the kitchen table, the dogs slept, played, argued a bit and we went out to the Lance after 8. It has been another great day.
