A Bit of Christmas Shopping, Puzzling, Crocheting

 Park Place RV Park

Since it was Sunday (Dec. 18th), I decided to pull the sirloin tip roast out of the freezer for supper. The day wasn’t as cool from beginning to end and the absence of wind had a lot to do with that. Although, it started out cloudy and remained so until about 1:30 when the sun broke through and showed the clouds who was boss. 😊

The sky started out this way
this morning

The sun was fighting to get through

Gibbs and I walked, Bill left for the field and I walked around the block. I didn’t meet my goal this morning, nor wasn’t too convinced that I’d meet it in the afternoon either.

Gibbs noticed these doves before I did

I  guess it's the sitting sign post

However, I did surprise myself by reaching my 6,000 steps by 5 pm. The nicest surprise was when I was walking back from the morning walk with Gibbs and we met up with Susan, (Host) and Adele (Pool player).

There are a few cacti in the park areas
This staghorn cholla is loaded with flowers

They are so interesting

They told me they want to play Ladies’ Poker Pool another day as well. One day isn’t enough. 😊 Well, that made me feel pretty good so we agreed to pick another morning. Probably Monday, just not tomorrow since we have deliveries arriving throughout the day. We can start the 2 days per week after Christmas, provided Patty (Manager) approves the change. Yay!

Still a lot of grapefruit on the tree

More oranges than I can eat

These tangelos are unreachable though

After we all returned home from our morning walks and flights, we had lunch and Bill and I drove into town. Let’s get the gifts for the party exchange and a couple of things for our own Christmas exchange. It’s never big $$’s, just things we both want. Even if it isn’t a surprise, we’ll put them under the tree until Christmas day. Everyone has their own way of handling the special day.

And one can only have so many lemons in the freezer

Back home, I went to the clubhouse and between working on the puzzle and chatting with Carol Ann, an rc flyer, whom I’ve recently met, two hours flew by. Back home, I finished with the last ball of variegated coloured wool while Bill and I had a cup of tea. I have one ball of solid colour left that should complete the Afghan. 😉 It’s just for us so any noticeable mistakes won’t be a problem.

It's a tough puzzle but I got the holes filled in
across the fence at least

I put the roast in Madame IP around 4:45 and then took Gibbs for a short walk around the park. The sky was still clear and the temperature was slowly dropping off. Another cool night but we’re warming up gradually to the mid-60’s this week. That’s 15C and up for our friends back home. The return of sunny days will make it more typical of Arizona weather for sure.

The roast was absolutely perfect! It cooked for 45 minutes and was on natural release for another 15. The potatoes, carrots and onions were done maybe a tad too much but I’d rather that than not cooked enough. The gravy I made on sauté was also quite perfect, if I do say so myself. 😊 We cleaned up the dishes and sat for the evening together watching a movie.

Supper was quite tasty
A special meal for Sunday night

This has been a nice day all around. The weather is improving, we have pretty much got our Christmas shopping done and we’re just a few days away. I guess you could say ‘7 more sleeps’.

A memory of our first Christmas in the south
Wow!
Aah sweet Clemson
We'll need to get a new picture this year with Gibbs 💗
Good night

Thank you for popping by. I hope you have also had a great day.

Warmer Day, Change of Hobby, Happy Gibbs, News!

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Dec. 17th  I noticed that it was a warmer morning. The temperature of 42F/6C wasn’t the tell all, really, it was mainly because there were no winds. Gibbs and I headed out for our walk and 15 minutes later, I left him at home with Daddy. Bill and Gibbs both had a rough night, someone had an upset tummy, so I let him sleep him. 😊

The sky was clear blue
Saguaros are still near by
Palm trees are at Arizona Sun RV Park behind us

I got as close to the fence, top pix, without touching it
(in case it was alarmed) but love all these birdhouses!
Bottom pix, those are quite the stairs to the roof patio

I left Bill in the shower and headed out for my walk around the residential area and then the block of rv parks. Bill decided, after sleeping in, that he wouldn’t go flying and after our drinks and cereal, he got out one of the models he bought in Hobby Lobby last month. That was the encouragement I needed and I got out my Afghan from under the bed and reacquainted myself with those stitches. This is my winter project and it is close to being finished.

See my helper?

The morning was gone in a flash and at noon, I made us bacon and eggs for a change. After working on the puzzle in the clubhouse for a couple of hours, I returned home for a cup of tea and more crocheting. I was toasty warm in the sun, working on the blanket and I even had a helper! He spent his time between the bed upstairs with Daddy and on the couch with me.

The fence is almost done

At 4, Gibbs and I went for our afternoon walk. It still wasn’t too windy but the air isn’t as warm as I’d like yet, so I wore my down jacket.

The clouds were moving in

Gibbs was in a playful mood and at the dog park, he ran and played like I haven’t seen since being on the Ridge. He usually just sniffs and walks around. Today, we chased each other and it was a joy to see.

He was curious about the palm frond

Then he ran, and ran and ran

For supper we had air fried chicken thighs, a boiled potato between us, pepper squash for me and corn for Bill. It was delicious! We didn’t need dessert. After clean up, we watched a Christmas movie while I worked on my blog. For the record, you need to know that after 15 minutes of the Muppet movie last night, we switched to something else. It wasn’t anywhere near our cup of tea.

This is my favourite
Look at our happy boy! 💗

It was a perfect supper for a cool night

The evening was quiet, but there is some news we want to share. Do you remember November 2021 when Bill and I attended his 3rd daughter’s wedding before crossing the border on Nov. 8th? We have recently learned that we are now expecting our 12th grandchild! This is such a lovely surprise! Boy or girl, there will be a little farmer arriving in June. This is Krystal’s FB announcement. Says it all.

Congratulations Krystal and Matt
and to us grandparents! 💓
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

Confusion on Sunday, Walks, Puzzle and Pool

Yuma Lakes RV Resort

On Sunday, Nov. 13th arrives and we were up by 7:30. I was feeling quite comfy snuggled down under the covers when Bill and Gibbs got up for their morning constitution. At the same time, when I saw Bill was getting up shortly after 7, I followed suit. I don’t like wasting a morning.

Our morning walk

After getting dressed for the weather, it was only 37F/3C, with long sleeves and my new jacket, Gibbs and I went for a nice walk. It was going to warm up nicely and the clear sunny sky was telltale of that. Back home, I had tea and some cereal with Bill. The confusion came about when I dressed to go into Yuma for groceries. Bill didn’t seem to be getting ready and as it turned out, we got our wires crossed.

Interesting tree

At this point, the whole back section is empty
of campers

He was thinking we weren’t going anywhere today. Woops! That’s okay, the groceries can wait until tomorrow and laundry, which I was going to do tomorrow can wait until Tuesday. 😉 Knowing that, at 10 I walked up to work in the puzzle until noon hour.

It's a tough puzzle, but I'm getting there

Back home, we had Cinnamon rolls for lunch and then I dressed for the pool. No one was there and although the wind felt a bit cool, the water was lovely.

I love the heated pool
but I seldom use the hot tub

After a float around on a park provided noodle, I found the best spot out of the breeze to stretch out with my book. I knew Bill would be reading back home so didn’t return to our site until 3. More reading and fitting in a walk for the little gapher, before we started prepping supper. Bill grilled our pork kabobs and inside I cooked us each a vegetable. You may have noticed that Bill and I have very different tastes for veggies, it’s just one of those things! 😆

After loading the dishwasher, I worked on my blog and then delved into my book again. It is another good story, David Baldacci’s Redemption, and I’m enjoying it very much. This was a great day, doing even more things that I love.

The sun is going down
and our neighbour is enjoying it on his patio

I'm loving the asparagus

We finished supper off with ice cream for dessert
Good night!

Thank you for the visit.
