Walk Around the Neighbourhood, Puzzle Fanatics, Surprise!!

On Friday, Dec. 8^th we were up by 7. Not all at the same time but up, just the same.  Bill went flying, I took Gibbs for his morning walk or visa versa. I decided that perhaps I needed to get myself out more often for those walks. Last winter, I was much more active in that department and it felt pretty good. 😊

Good Friday morning!

So, after bringing Gibbs home, I headed to the east and walked through some of the residential homes. One section was a dead end so I had to turn around and come back. 

We need to buy lotto tickets.
This little gem is for sale and would be just lovely!

I had my eyes peeled for rocks so ended up strolling back into the desert and turned my walk into a Saguaro hunt. My goal was to put some miles (steps) on this old body and just enjoy being outdoors.

When I returned, I sat with Gibbs for a while before walking over to start a puzzle. This is another one I brought from home, another pretty picture, another 1000 pieces. 😊 Boy, did it seem easy to flip and sort the pieces after that last one! I worked on my own until 11:30 when Adele came over. I had done a fair bit and left her to it while I returned home for lunch.

It was all over and done with within 10 minutes.

A nice easy puzzle today.

I was surprised, and a little stunned, when Bill texted to tell me that Carol-Ann and Kobus had pulled out! They never said a word so we hoped everything was all right. Turns out, they were going to visit friends until after Christmas so we’ll see them when they return. Gibbs will miss his pets from them, for sure! We had our lunch and Bill went to get water and check the mail depot for his (Ken’s) parcel. When he returned, I was stunned once more!

Yup, my bread maker, the one that was ‘lost in transit’, arrived! No reason why, because the address was correct, but now I have two. LOL. I have a decision to make because we sure don’t need both. I think I’ll keep the newest one, it was the most expensive, and check with my sister before offering the other for sale anywhere. How funny! A lot of people said ‘it will arrive, wait and see’ and that is exactly what happened. 😊

I left Bill and Gibbs at home and went back to the puzzle at 1:30. Adele was still there so we worked together on it. It seems so easy! It was a fun afternoon and when we parted ways at 3:30 ish, we said we’d finish it tomorrow. Bill and I shared a Seagram’s Calypso Colada that Susan gave us rather than my cup of tea. A whole one would have put me under the table! It was tasty and refreshing.

Gibbs and I went for our afternoon walk and I slip past the 6,000-step mark. Good for me! I needed to find a new book so pulled out The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz. I’ve read a couple of his first ones so wanted to check this one out. It’s in large print so that will help! For supper, we had grilled bacon cheeseburgers and the evening was spent quietly.

Quiet Day, Puzzling, Deliveries!

On Friday, Nov. 24^th the ‘after Thanksgiving’ lull is in the air. Things and people are moving slower, I know I am! 😊 We had a great day yesterday celebrating with friends and ate a whole big bunch of food and drank more wine than I’ve done in a while. Loved every minute!

Good morning!! 

Today, we were up before 7 and I hadn’t really thought about what I’d get up to. After my tea, Gibbs and I went for our walk, returning just as Bill was ready to pull out of our site. By then, I’d decided to go for a walk into and around the residential area across Riggles Ave. First, I popped in to see Patti, who was on duty, and gave her a Thanksgiving hug, letting her know how much we appreciate ‘her’. ♥ She is a special lady.

The desert was quiet, even at 9:30.
Seems I was the only one out there.

Then, off I went. Once I’m out there, I am enjoying myself enough to want to keep going. I cut through the desert, avoiding the main roads, and found my way towards the flying field. I was hoping I hadn’t missed Bill, since it was around 10 am and sometimes he has returned home by then or soon after. 😊 Luckily, he was still there as were Dave and Vera. I chatted with Vera while they worked on getting his Piper Cub running and then when Bill packed up, I just hitched a ride home with him.

I took advantage of that beautiful sun and sat in my gravity chair with my book. The James Patterson book I’m now reading is called NYPD Red 6 and it is one of those page turners. We had lunch of bacon and eggs with some toasted French bread and then after cleanup, I went to the clubhouse with 4 of my puzzles from under the bed. I’ll leave the most fun one until later in the season.

I started with the 500 – piece puzzle and what appeared to be the easiest. I could have done this one at home but I didn’t pick it up until later in the summer season and had stopped putting them together by then. Anyway, I knew Sheila would like this picture. 😊 I made a darn good head start; it is quite easy but around 3 I had to pull myself away. I will work on it again tomorrow.

New Bread machine.

Back home, Bill was ready to go to Moon Mountain Mail for a parcel so I went too, hoping, hoping, hoping something would have my name on it. Well, that worked! Bill got 1, I got 2 and one my sister sent arrived as well. Yay! My bread machine is here! You know what I’ll be attempting to make tomorrow, don’t you? Bill and Gibbs dozed in the chairs so I made my tea and sat to start writing. Gibbs and I got out for a quick walk around 5.

Bacon cheeseburgers will be our supper tonight with pie for dessert, if we have room. I get full very quickly after a cup of tea. 😊

We watched some tv tonight since Bill found my Billy the Kid episodes again! This has been a good day and I managed to get a few more (a lot more) steps in today.

The Ridge

Saturday, Aug. 27^th, I didn’t have to get up for anything specific so it was 7:30 when I got up. Gibbs only jumped off the bed a few minutes before me because he heard his Daddy into the cookie cupboard. Bill was getting ready to go flying and was packing some snacks. It’s a cool 10C/50F when I came downstairs so when Bill left, I turned the furnace on for a couple of cycles. I know that’s silly but it was 14C/60F inside our home and I was chilly.

I had my tea snuggled with Gibbs and then we went for a walk. I knew that would warm me up so I turned the furnace off before we went out. It was a great walk, down as far as M’s shop when Gibbs decided it was far enough. 😊 I will be unplugging from power today too; the sky is fully blue. Love these days! It will be quite warm by mid-afternoon, somewhere near 30C/84F, so I may regret not keeping things closed up at some point. We’ll see.

My latest book

I forgot to mention that I received a delivery yesterday when I was in Hanover. No signature was required but at least Bill was here to accept it. 😊 The photobook that I’ve been working on during August arrived! I’m always excited to see the finished product and Bill pleases me that he is always anxious to read it too. ♥ I think I mentioned it was a new company, if I mentioned the book at all, and I went a bit too big on the font (the better for older eyes to read it!), but I’m very pleased.

Gibbs and I hung around outside with the birds, swinging in the hammock until Bill texted at 12:40 that he was leaving the field. I came in and made some toast and peanut butter for a quick lunch. I was thinking there would be food at the party we’re going to. Yes, we’ve been invited to our neighbour’s place, 2 doors down, to a Housewarming/Birthday party for 6-year-old, Carson.

Meagan gave us a heads up that there would be about 15 little ones and their parents. 😊 We won’t stay long, methinks! We dressed in our jeans, even though it was a hot day, and we rode Jazz down the road. I’d listened to Carson and his brother on their dirt bikes all morning so we decided to show them ours. Ha ha.

Meagan met us with hugs and we were introduced to many young people, 3 sets of parents (in-laws plus step parents), and about 6 large friendly dogs. The place was buzzing. 😊 They have lots of room for the overnight, shelter tents and a parent’s trailer.

It was nice to be included and after a tour of the house and chit chat for about 90 minutes, I slipped into my boots and leather jacket and we went for a bike ride for a couple of hours. It was perfect weather.

On the way home, we were hungry around 5 so stopped at our favourite stop, Jenny G’s, for fish and chips. Oh my, they were very good. Back home, we felt exhausted so cat-napped for half hour.

Bill slept and Gibbs and I rested. I can never drop off so easily in the afternoon. We were having a campfire tonight so invited Donna and Gerry over around 7. It started out to be a very calm night but by 10, the winds from the south were cool on our backs.
