Routine Day, Job Offer, Low High, Another Birthday

 

The Ridge

On Friday, May 2^nd I was having a beautiful sleep before my first movement. I noticed from our reflective clock that the ceiling was reading 6:30. I was really happy to be able to shut my eyes again for another 20 minutes or so. 😊 Gibbs felt me move and lifted his head to see what I was going to do.

I was surprised to see this bright
peek  at sundown.

When it was time, I accepted his hugs and kisses before stretching out the kinks and getting up. It was, by then, 7:10 and Bill was still downstairs, finishing his cereal and making coffee. I slipped into the bathroom, washed, then dressed before joining him downstairs. How exciting! Another dull cloudy cold day.

 I know, I know! Try and be happy, regardless. 😊😊 We were both almost ready to go out the door at the same time leaving Gibbs in charge of the house. He had no problem this morning, jumping up into my dining chair by the door/window to receive his Milkbone.

When can we go out and play again, Mom?

The Mat turned into a longer period than I expected, with 3 customers to start and then 2 more arriving before I left. I’d decided to empty the full Lost and Found. I’ve been monitoring it for 2 weeks and nothing has been claimed. Oh brother! So, after first cleaning the machines and emptying dryer trays, I pulled the items out.

 I washed and dried them before folding the good items into 3 bags. One for the clothing exchange tomorrow, one of children’s clothes and one of adult items for Rethreads uptown. It’s the young articles I don’t get, they aren’t cheap to buy/replace! My Newfie friend, came in with quite a load of things and managed quite nicely with his limp after breaking a hip and a foot at some point in the past 6 months. LOL

than they tasted but I know I can eat them this way.
They weren't too bad.

He told a few jokes and chattered in very broken English but I think I laughed at the appropriate moments. He’s quite a card and a nice man. I logged 1.5 hours today and drove to Foodland for Bill’s bread. As soon as I walked in, another former Mat customer (now manager at the grocery store) asked if I was looking for work. I could have had a temporary job just like that!

 

There was an influx of traffic going by today.
Gravel trucks turned it into a highway scenario,
and we did get some much needed fill on North Line
but it wasn't spread very well.

Well, since it was full hours for a month and a half, I declined with a thank you. He thought of me, knowing something full time would not be of interest. I don’t know what the job would entail but I can’t be away from home for full days, nor will I give up my other part time positions. He understood, but I found that interesting.

I enjoy working on the crossword puzzle.

Then to Impact Tire to pick up our Catch the Ace tickets for tonight’s draw. Jackie still calls me Ptooties from our very first meeting. People are starting to get to know us around town, me especially because of my job at the Mat and because I am in the stores often.

Back home, I wasn’t any more impressed with the weather than I was earlier, it hadn’t budged in temperature. We didn’t get any rain, although they called for some, but Gibbs and I walked to put 3 cards in the mailbox at noon hour. I couldn’t wait to get back inside, I wasn’t dressed properly.

Bill and I drove back into town
at 5:30. Yup, still heavy clouds.

I worked on our advent calendar, Bill and I have one on the wall that gets changed up at each anniversary and worked on the crossword puzzle that came in today’s paper. This is one of my challenges and it will last me all week until the next one arrives. I pick away at it each day. Bill gets the Word Search and he does the same when he is sitting idly.

I made my tea at 3:30 and sat with Gibbs until Bill got home. Tonight is our draw at the curling club so supper will be after 7. Bacon and eggs are on the menu and that is something quick and easy to prepare. We’ve only reached a high of 7C/46F today, which is a very low HIGH and will drop again to about 3C/37F.

We were one of the few that were
last to leave tonight.

Bill was home by 3:45 and we relaxed together until 5:30 when we drove into town. We are quite enjoying getting to know some of the locals and ordered a rum and Coke while we waited for the draw. Not lucky again but the jackpot is up to $11,000 so there is still hope to find that Ace of spades! We were home by 7:30. 

Supper turned out well.

Lastly, we celebrate yet another brother-in-laws birthday today. I hope John (Gayle's hubby) had a great day!
