Yard Sale Day

On Saturday, Nov. 8th I slept solidly until 6:30. I looked over at Bill's side of the bed and only Gibbs was curled up there. Last night after we were settled in for the evening, we watched some tv. I was upstairs and at 9:30 crawled into bed.

Good morning!
This is how mine started.

Bill was up to the bathroom and was experiencing an upset stomach. He was in bed at 10 and soon up again at 10:30. More than an upset, he was sick to his stomach and sweating when I checked on him. 

Our first thought was food poisoning but we all ate the same thing and unless T & D had an issue, we could rule that out. He seemed better after that and I dropped back off. He did say it was a restless night but no more incidences. Strange, he felt good this morning.

He headed out to the flying field, happy to be back to see his friends and do some flying. I set out the household items and clothing on the table and on a tarp on the ground. I didn't expect much, or anything, to sell really but put out some of my creations too.

Bill was home by 10:30, still fine, and connected his plane batteries for charging, dumped tanks and sat outside with Gibbs and I until 11:30. I wanted to take a walk around to see who else was selling but was late for 3 I wanted to visit. Oh well, didn't need to buy anyway.

I did find a small round glass cake pan at Bj's, she has a nice set up on her site, and returned home for lunch. I packed my own stuff up and pocketed the whopping $4 I earned this morning. It's $4 we didn't have yesterday. 😉

The drive to Parker has always
been a favourite because of the views.

After lunch, Bill and Gibbs snoozed and we drove to Parker to shop at Walmart. The grocery list was getting long. It was a couple of hours before we returned home but we had enough to fill the 'larder'. Does that just mean pantry? Anyway, the fridge and freezer are stocked again.

For supper, we agreed on Salisbury steak meat pies. I offered Bill rice as a commentor suggested or extra vegetables and he opted just for a slice of bread. He is enjoying one kind of the keto bread we've bought and that's great. I prefer a different one.

No dishes other than what would fit in the dishwasher so that was turned on and we relaxed for the evening. This has been a great day.

It is cooling off a couple of degrees each day but with no breeze, we still prefer running the a/c. I know it is totally different back home, while we are removing layers, they are layering up. We're all happy! Fyi, Bill is fine and we have no clue what it was or why.

Gorgeous Day! Yard Saling, Dog Park

On Friday, Nov. 8^th things followed our normal routine to start. Bill and Gibbs were up after 6 for their first outing. Then Gibbs and I got up just before 7 for my first outing. 😊 I washed, dressed and headed out into the 41F/5C morning. There was clear sky again and slight, if any, breeze to speak of. I was sufficiently dressed and thoroughly enjoyed the walk.

Bill left for the flying field and after my reward (my cup of tea), I took Gibbs for his walk around the park block. Then at 9:15, I downgraded my attire and walked back to the residential suburb. I noticed a sign this morning stating GIGANTIC Yard Sale at the Arroyos. I headed there with my fanny pack and was not disappointed. I wish I’d taken a picture. They weren’t kidding, it was gigantic in any language! 😊

It's on tomorrow and then Sunday is 50% off day.
I'll be going back, there are a couple of things...............

The best part is that even though it was all bagged and priced, the prices were unexpectedly low. If I had a house, I’m sure I would have needed B.B. to bring home my purchases. This lady, who recently lost her husband, used to entertain over 30 residents for every occasion. She had full dish sets for Christmas, Thanksgiving, boat parties, beach parties, Nascar parties etc. I was duly impressed.

What a good little walker he was this morning!

I chose 4 Christmas plates and a serving tray, 3 stocking hangers and a strengthening hand exercise ‘football’. Yes, just because that is the shape it is. 😊 P.S. my hand strength is not very good but it was a gadget that I wanted. Across the street, another yard sale produced a new Christmas wreath for our door that lights up. For $3, I couldn’t pass it up, since we need one.

I had a pizza craving at noon, so

as on the box. It was fun not knowing what I was doing!

Bill was home fairly early from the field and came over to the clubhouse to help Sue set up her Starlink in the office. I put my puzzle away and put our chair quilts in the washer before finding a new challenge to work on. We decided while the blankets were on the line to dry, we’d go back so he could check out the garage full of tools at the sale. He found a couple of t-shirts as well and I came home with a couple more things. LOL

I went back to the puzzle while the boys napped and then we drove Gibbs to the dog park down by the flying field. I wanted Bill with me the first time so we could see how Gibbs behaved. He is more of a people pooch than a dog pooch, but he had the opportunity to sniff, get petted and dribble before we headed home. I’ll try and take him more often to see if he likes it. He’s sleeping now, so we won’t need to walk this afternoon. ♥

Bill and I each cracked open a Jack Daniels lemonade before supper. It wasn’t a ‘tea’ day for me today. 😊 Grilled bacon cheeseburgers for supper and a quiet evening in front of the tv. The day warmed up nicely to a sunny 74F/24C with still no wind worth mentioning.

We’ve been here in the park for a week already and it just seem like it. I think because other than puzzles, there haven’t been any of the games to take part in. Hopefully soon! We’ve enjoyed a nice day. Today is m-i-l's birthday, so Happy Birthday, Marilynne!

Another Little Boy’s Birthday, Yard Sale

On Saturday, Mar. 12^th, we woke to a special day in our household. ♥ Someone turns one year old! So, Gibbs and I went for a walk at 7:30 and returned home by 8. I know there are puppy dog birthday cake recipes but I was missing one of the key ingredients. 😊 Yes, he would probably love it, a cake all to himself!

Bill left for the flying field at 8:15 and soon after, I left Gibbs in charge and walked over to Arizona Sun RV Park behind us to see what exactly their Yard Sale looked like. It was typical of most rv parks where each site owner can put stuff out, likely a no commitment kind of thing. I walked around the whole park and found 5 or 6 sites had stuff set out. Some went to a lot of effort for the 4-hour sale. 😊

As for my purchases, only 2 items came home. A good pair of the ‘genuine’ Crocs, just the right size, and a new pair of rust-coloured capris, just the right size, all for the grand total of $3. Nothing else caught my eye enough to bring my wallet out of my purse. At one booth, a lady gave me a pack of 2 rawhide bones for Gibbs so that would be a nice birthday gift for him and keep him busy for a while. 😊

I left the birthday boy home at 10:30 and walked over to work on the puzzle. Not one side of the border went together yesterday so I needed to try and get that done at least. It didn’t take too long to find 3 of the missing pieces and now the border is ¾ complete. I worked away on the pickup trucks in the picture and part of the sky. At 11:30, it was a nice surprise when Bill walked in and we walked home together.

Gibbs didn’t make a sound,no barking when we came in, trying hard to be a good boy on his special day. ♥ We had a cold lunch, sandwich and a wrap, and because we were expecting Ted and his wife (flying friends of Bills) at 1:30, I stayed home. She needs some help with the ArriveCan app so Bill is going to try and help. No point in here getting too stressed about it if someone can lend a hand. 😊 Bill was outside when Joe brought over a 500-pc. puzzle for me. It’s beautiful and should be mind-wrecking!

The day is hot already at 1 o’clock, winds have picked up a bit and it is 74F/24C.  Lovely day! As planned, Ted and Sue arrived and Bill sat with Sue to help her get the app on her phone. I put Gibbs on his leash outside and he sat on the step listening to us. ☹ Sorry, little bum, this needs to be quiet time inside. Ted and I sat in the recliners and got to know each other. What a nice man. They both are very nice and we had a few laughs in the process.

It was probably an hour and a half later that they said goodbye and I went to work on the puzzle for an hour until closing. I accomplished a bit more before returning home for a Beer margarita. Yum. I didn’t make them as strong as I have in the past so I am enjoying them much more. I’ll remember that for next time, I don’t need to have one drink put me under the table. 😊

And another, we were already in love

Well, it’s done! My afghan got finished last night, with some thanks to Bill. On the last row, I had to get a bit creative to make the wool last for the final stitches. I turned 5 into 10 by switching from the triple DC (crochet speak) to single DC and it worked out perfect. Only serious crafters would notice. I was happy it was done but it was late and I didn’t take the time to stretch it out on the bed for a picture. I’ll do that another day when Gibbs won’t be close enough to jump up on it.♥

This was yesterday

We went for a walk, the little guy and I, before I came back for another margarita. I got out the original blanket I started working on and used up the last ball of chunky wool that I have. When we get back to Yuma, I’ll be searching for something else to match so I can finish it. If not here, then at home. For supper, we had fish and chips. Fish in the oven and fries in the Fry Daddy. They were quite good and I even had a few fries for a change.

After turning the dishwasher on, Bill had his shower and I worked on my blog. This has been a great day and we have many more hot days to come. Yay! I chatted back and forth with our friends, Deb and Tom, and are excited to be making plans for a Happy Hour or two with them in the near future. 😊

Summer Cleaning, Yard Sale Sitting

The Ridge

Wednesday, Aug. 18^th after Bill left for Hanover, I fed Gibbs, took him out and then left him with his responsibility again. He’s getting better, seeming to understand that he gets something when I leave AND that I do return. 😊 He does still get anxious when he sees me (us) put our shoes on and I grab my purse and keys but other than hovering at the door, I haven’t heard a peep the last couple of times. Our little boy is growing up.

The laundromat floor was the worst thing to clean but I expect normal dirt. I loaded 2 washers with our chair covers and our chenille bedspread before starting with my normal routine. Leaving there, I drove to the Water Store to fill our big bottle. Gibbs greeted me at the door after I hung the things on the line. The forecast on my phone app said cloudy but it was a clear sky for a lot of the morning. It wouldn’t take long, I’m sure, for them to dry.

After my tea, Gibbs wanted to go outside so I put him on his rope leash and he was content. I felt like doing something productive so dust mopped the Suite and then washed them with my new system. It is so easy that I’ve actually done this 3 times in a month! I never used to wash our floors regularly! 😊 I took the window mop outside and wet them, just water, doing the windows all around the Suite. I found out later that I used the wrong one but other than a few spots on my little window, they still looked wonderful.

I moved on to the outer windows on Ptooties and the dash and doors inside. The car itself was quite dirty but I don’t have the car wash mitt (yet) so it will wait for today. That’s from the rain and gravel roads we’ve been on lately. I was encouraged and wanted to see if I could spiff up the inside of our Weber Q lid. Hmm, I had the Norwex oven and grill cleaner and followed Marie’s directions. It worked quite well but cleaning the bbq is not something we’ve ever done regularly so……….it wasn’t perfect. Maybe later, I might have to try it again for the built-up crud.

Some improvement but much more to come

When Gibbs and I came inside, I was washing out the floor pads, napkins and cloths when Canada Post dropped off a parcel on the step. I didn’t even see her and Gibbs didn’t hear her. The a/c was probably running so that would explain it. He has exceptional hearing and doesn’t usually miss a thing barking at many motors and noises.

I never stop being amazed at Amazon.ca. Yesterday morning, I ordered a couple of phone cases for our new Samsung phones, a book and screen protectors for the phones as well. Today, the post office delivered 2 of these items and the next two items will be arriving on Tuesday. With this record, I’ll bet they’re here before the weekend. 😊 That would be great!

It was around 1:30 that M called and asked if I would mind sitting at his place to keep an eye on his Yard Sale while he ran some errands. I wasn’t doing anything other than I placed my Norwex order on Donna’s party site so left Gibbs in charge once more and drove around the corner. There were only a couple of ‘window shoppers’ and nothing was purchased. Just as well, I don’t like bartering with someone else’s items anyway.

When he returned around 4:15, I returned home and again, just minutes after Bill. The day had turned quite hot again and while I’d waited at M’s, I took it upon myself to dead head his petunias. It’s what I did last summer for a while before it got too hot. We came inside and while Bill dozed, I held Gibbs, trying to keep him entertained so as not to bother Daddy. I brought the items in off the line and we put the chair covers back in place. The bedspread went on after supper.

We had sloppy joes, always different each time I make it, on toasted buns and it was quite good. I used one of my ‘hot’ peppers and while they were almost unnoticeable in the mix, I’d touched my finger to my lip and that burned! Eventually it eased, lesson learned. I hope! We cleaned up dishes and I saw that there is enough left over for at least one person for another meal.

I worked on my blog and Bill sat to apply the screen protectors. My applications are never perfect and he is better at this kind of thing. 😊 This was a good day. I feel like I got a lot of small things done and earned a bit of cash in the process. Our temperatures are supposed to continue to rise over the next few days so once more, we acknowledge our crazy summer weather.
