Another Full Day, Things are Hoppin’!

The Ridge

On Victoria Monday, May 20^th many Canadians get a paid holiday, depending on the job, I guess. Bill is off, which is nice, giving him a long weekend. However, we had work plans today. At 7:30, I dropped him off at Robin and Andrew’s home to cut grass and weed trim. After boosting the Cub Cadet with Ptootie, I left him to it and drove to the Mat for my cleaning.

Timing was darn near perfect, when I returned an hour later, he was just finishing with the mower and for another 45 minutes he did the trimming. I wandered around after him to sweep the many sidewalks around the house. The property looks great and it looks like someone is home. 😊

Then the Williamsford property gets
cleaned up, all ready for guests. 

We came home then, it was only 10:30, and made a lunch to take to Williamsford for 11:30. Robin texted that the guests asked to extend their stay for an extra hour so we ended up eating our lunch here and left at 12 noon instead. Her little (?) business is really taking off, it’s a popular spot and her prices are very reasonable for overnight stays.

Once more, Ptootie had to boost this Cub Cadet and Bill was on his way. I went inside to clean. It helped that the a/c was already on as it was a very warm day. I felt bad for Bill out in it but for the most part, he was riding instead of pushing a mower. He’s earning more money than I am this weekend! 😊 Because there will be one maybe two more times that the lawns need cutting before Robin and Andrew return home, she is holding off paying for that service until then.

For my cleaning, she is keeping up-to-date, sending e-transfers every couple of days after I finish. Nice to have a boss who pays, besides Sandy. ♥ We left the property looking spiffy, inside and out, at 2:15 and drove home to Gibbs. It’s a lovely day, reaching 28C/83F. That is almost unheard of for this May 2-4 long weekend. We’ve seen snow but mostly wet and cold weather for all those brave camping enthusiasts. Nice to see the change.

Gibbs and I sat outside in the tent shelter and Bill dumped our tanks. He had time to spend on his hobby, emptying Black Beauty of the rest of his planes and puttering inside doing what he loves. That’s one reason he works, to support his hobby. 😊 I dozed in my gravity chair in the tent with Gibbs in the shade beside me but when I came in at 5, no way was he ready to join me. Not as long as Daddy was outside.

The rest of the afternoon, it was calm.

At 5:30, I began making supper. We had hamburger ghoulash with dumplings (I was splurging!) and while Bill had fried potatoes, I had broccoli with mine. It was so good! We cleaned up dishes, there were plenty tonight, and then sat together to watch Sullivan's Crossing but couldn't find the live version of The Voice. We'll watch it another night.

of good things for me to eat, I did and they were
a rare delicious morsel!

This has been a great day even though we worked. I’m happy and have thoroughly enjoyed the weekend with my sweeties. ♥

Another Full Day, Where’s the Beach?

On Wednesday, Aug. 23^rd, it was 6:30 when I slipped out of bed and came downstairs. Audie was in her sauna and Donna had also just gotten up. The other two weren’t long before coming out. It was an early start for everyone. We played our joint Scrabble game while doing what we do best. Chatting, chatting and more chatting.

We decided to just hang at home and then have our brunch before going anywhere. After cleanup, Aj drove us to Ste. Anne de Bellevue to Jarden Zen, which is a gem stone store. We all met Carmen, the proprietor, and I found a few things to purchase. Gems are out of my league, especially as far as my knowledge but I found a Tiger’s Eye bracelet and another pair of Aladdin pants.

Stop two was a Thrift store set up in a large, beautiful Georgian style house. None of us thought we’d need more clothes but sometimes that perfect little top lands in your hands. 😊 I spent $10 on 3 items and a friend of Audrey’s (she has met someone she knows everywhere we’ve been!) was so impressed with her sisters, that she insisted on taking multiple pictures of us together. ♥

We went home to change into our swim suits and drove to the beach at Bay de Vaudreuil. It was the perfect day – again! We reached 26C/79F and after a refreshing dip in the bay, stretched out on our towels on the sand. It was lovely and oh, how I’ve missed that uninterrupted beach time. The sun felt great.

Back home again for a quick change of clothes and once more, Audrey drove us to Ste. Anne de Bellevue for supper.

This time, a Thai restaurant was the choice, of which I’ve never eaten before. I ordered a margarita, spring rolls for an appetizer and sauteed shrimp with vegetables. We sat at an indoor/outdoor patio overlooking the bay and the boats along the dock were squeezing into prime spots. 

After our meal, we walked down the boardwalk to listen to a 6-pc band called The New Ministry. A combination of Funky Pop dance music, and they were very good. SRO (standing room only).

With just a couple of songs left in their set for the evening, we followed Audrey out, back to the car. It was good timing as the streets would be crazy if we’d waited. It was nice to meet more friends of Audrey, Bill and Lyse, both really nice people, happy to greet and welcome us. Back home, it was just after 9 so we relaxed until bedtime at 10. These days are wonderful and exhausting. 😊 Never a dull moment.

I chatted via text to Bill to discover that they had a rainy cooler day today so they probably spent the day inside. I was also told that someone misses his Mommy. ♥. I miss him too, I’ve seen many pooches around our travels and Gibbs pops into my head. This was a great day, I hope yours was too.

Nancy Leaves, Getting the Most of our Remaining Days

We were up by 7 on Monday, Mar. 27^th and looking out my window by the bed, it was another lovely blue sky. The forecast was for clouds and 66F/19C and that’s how the day turned out. 

Good morning y'all!

First thing was to say goodbye to Nancy and at 7:30, she was at our door for just that reason. 😊 She was hooked up so we got our hugs, gave her a pack of Nutter Butters for the road and a painted rock for friendship. ♥

I had my tea and then got cleaned up for the day. Gibbs and I walked around the park and Bill packed away our gazebo. It was time. At 9:15, I headed over for our regularly scheduled Poker Pool games. I’m thrilled that the ladies are playing it on off days, meaning I get a few more games in than I planned! There were 6 of us playing this morning. Bill was having a great morning and I’m tickled for him that things are working out. 😊

After my warmed pizza for lunch, I went back to the clubhouse to start the new puzzle. Woops! I forgot to take a picture but will get one tomorrow. I gave 3 more rocks out to the ladies and still have one left for Patti before we leave. Dora was on duty and she and I played regular pool. I needed instruction, it is very different than the game we have been playing. The rules are not significant to me, I just want to practice and learn from her on how to bank etc.

Sheila joined us and we switched to Poker Pool for a game. Back home at 4, Gibbs and I went for our walk before I made my tea. Bill and I caught up on our day and chatted with friends from back home. He’s a flying friend and Bill wanted to discuss all the ‘stuff’ that is going on regarding their licenses and such.

I missed playing my games online this morning, but maybe I will be able to play some tonight. We have tv programs recording and others to watch so we’ll see what I get accomplished! It has been an awesome day and although I didn’t get my puzzle ready for assembling, it will be there in the morning. 😊

Full Day, Family Dinner

The Ridge

On Friday, Oct. 1^st we were up and at ‘em. Bill at 6:30 and Gibbs and I at 7. I wanted to get to the laundromat asap since I had my other job to go to afterwards. So, Bill was gone at 7:30 and I left at 7:35 for Durham. As soon as I arrived, I groaned ‘oh no, now what?’ When I walked in, a regular greeted me with a smirk. “I know, I was afraid to move anything….”.

I’ll send the picture to Jamie but the heavy wooden Lost and Found was outside in the back parking lot. ??? Bill wonders if they were propping the back door open with it for some reason? LOL Inside wasn’t too bad but there were quite a few clothes and ‘things’ in dryers (from the L & F, I assume) and a garbage bag full of clothes. That one went in our lockup, not caring where it came from, and I emptied the dryer into the box again minus the huge Afghan. It is in the back of my car since it has been there for 2 weeks, unclaimed. Mine now. 😊

I cleaned things up and after stopping for a few sale items at Foodland headed home by 9:15. Gibbs was fine and we went for a walk around to stretch his little legs. At 9:30, I drove around the corner to M’s for work. This time, I was helping him spruce up his small apartment/home. I sanded and painted a nice wooden chair that was doomed for the firepit and an inside metal door. His place is like a maze, doors leading here and there but it is his abode and he is trying his best.

It was 4 hours later when I left for home with a promise to pick up a banana cream pie from the Shell station down the highway for him. The owner’s wife bakes them every Friday for anyone who places an order. Last week it was apple and a very sweet pie so M decided on a less sugary treat this week. Of course, after I picked it up for him and dropped it off, I had to cut 2 pieces for us. 😉 Bill had been home when I got home at 1:30 so I knew Gibbs had been out.

We needed a propane tank filled so I knew that’s where Bill was. Unfortunately, the FS Co-op was closed for inventory so no propane today. Geesh, why on a Friday? Anyway, we discussed the rest of the weekend and made definitive plans for tomorrow. Tonight, we are invited to Gayle and John’s for a bbq supper so I picked up a shrimp ring and mixed some coleslaw to add to the meal.

Bill had his shower and I did a good wash, mostly to get any spatters of paint off my hands and arms. I wasn’t too messy today for a change. We fed Gibbs at 4:30, took him out for a walk. I gathered and bagged my last 5 or 6 good books for Gayle, so we’ll see if she is interested in reading them next. At least she has room to store them if she is keen. We left for the Acreage to pick Donna & Gerry up at 5ish.

Supper was simple and great. Donna had made a Caesar salad so along with John’s burgers, my contributions and Gayle’s pumpkin pie with ice cream, we were all top filled. 😉 The conversation carried on through the evening while Gibbs continued to explore. It is a big house with lots of floor space, more than what he knew what to do with. He did have a couple of piddle accidents, but we take blame for not paying enough attention. We all loaded into Ptooties and headed home around 9. Dropping my sister and hubby off at the Acreage, it was a dark drive home. Bill had left our scare lights on so the Ridge was lit up perfectly.

There was a big accident on #6 so we were forced to turn down a concession to the west for the detour before getting bac on the highway. Don’t know what it was and haven’t heard. I couldn’t keep my eyes open sitting in my chair with a car show on tv so went up to bed before 10:30. It was a good day, busy in all the right spots. I hope you can say the same for your Friday.
