July Rolls to an End, Hump Day

The Ridge

On Wednesday, July 30th I remained where I was, under the comfortable sheet, with a hint of fresh air coming in my window. It was 7:15 when I shook off the sleepies and got up. I gave myself a reprieve since it was 11:30 last night when I went to bed!

Good morning!
Most of my Dahlias are fuschia.
I love these bright red ones at the road.

I had no where to be and nothing to do today but ....well, nothing! That is quite a nice feeling but I know I couldn't do that day after day. After my tea, I went outside with Gibbs and Bill made the decision to hop on Jazz and go into the hardware store.

I had a package in the mail
from yesterday.
My homemade bug sprays arrived.
Never to late, right?
They love me this summer!

He has a few small jobs to do around the Suite while he is off and needed a couple of supplies to help with that. While he was gone, I put things away from yesterday's party.

The hammock went back to the spot it was in, the table went back into the Bunky and I hung the tablecloth on the line. Morning dew had it quite damp. It wasn't a lot but the yard looked normal again. 😃

My miniature roses are
blooming again.

The morning disappeared in a blink so we had lunch together. Back to my youth, I had a mayo, peanut butter and leaf lettuce on my bread. Oh, it was so good!

Coneflower/Echinacea
so pretty

It was a hot morning and we all, Ken and Kim included, tried to decide whether it was an a/c day but held off when early afternoon brought some wind to cool things off. I went out to the Bunky while Bill worked on his few jobs.

They are so pretty.

It was time to move my quilling supplies out there and that was all thanks to my clean up the other day. 😄 Owls, they are what I fall back on, when it isn't flowers, so I made another one, just for fun. At 2:30, it was time to get ready for Happy Hour.

As I said on Facebook,
sometimes you just need to sleep on
someone you love.
In this case, Tigger's legs.

As usual, conversation flowed easily as we sat in the shade by the firepit and so did the laughter. Soon enough it got quite cool and I had to put some warm clothes on! After yesterday, that's crazy! At 6, we parted ways and had our supper.

Gibbs was in and out of the Bunky
the whole time I was in there.
The rest of the time, he
was out in the heat, watching
his Daddy.

It was cool in there.

Pork meatballs for us with potatoes, cauliflower and coleslaw. It was all very good.

Fun as usual

After clean up, I tried to work on my blog while watching more episodes of Bones. That's two things that are hard to do together.

Supper was good.
Good night.

This was a good day, by 4:30 we dropped from 26C/78F to a chilly 18C/66F. Trust me, it felt quite cold out there. I hope your hump day was good too.

We celebrated Rob's birthday
yesterday, a few days early,
this picture popped up as a memory.
This was 2017.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

Let's Part-ay!

 The Ridge

On Tuesday, July 29th I could tell Bill was truly enjoying his time off already. Today, he didn't have to do 'anything' and I'm happy about that.

Good morning!

I was up before 7 and on my way to Durham within minutes.

A foggy start to the day.

It was a very foggy morning, looking terrible from our vantage point but never as bad once you are  out there on the road. The Mat was empty when I arrived and remained that way for the whole hour. I loved that.

Within a couple of minutes,
I could see the sky change
from foggy gray to blue.

I headed straight home and Bill was sitting eating breakfast, ready to make a coffee. 💘 My head was buzzing as today we were expecting Suzie and Pat to join us for a visit. Kim and I discussed the plan for the day and decided to make it a meal as well.

Knowing they wanted to see my sisters et al, and visa versa, I messaged Donna and Gayle with an invite. All 4 were free, willing and happy to be included and a plan was formed. It was that easy!

Bella and Gibbs did the
play tag thing a few times during
the day.
So cute!

At 10, I took M into town and while there, picked up burgers and buns, plus a dessert. I started doing a birthday card with my quilling before lunch and carried on after until I finished it. Woops! I forgot to get a picture.

Our guests had all arrived by 3 and the afternoon played out perfectly. Bill grilled 12 burgers and I set the condiments, plates, napkins etc. up inside on the the island. Donna contributed a salad, Gayle brought chips and salsa and Kim put together a very nice charcuterie board. Perfect!

Group participation made it a
great day and a great meal.
There he is, my chef, ready to serve.

We ate outside on our tables, like a family, which in a way, we all are. 💕 With the exception of Donna and Gerry, we are/were all rv'ing friends. It was a very hot day but my concern over whether our guests were comfortable and could find shade was for naught, everyone seemed to be perfectly fine.

Simple plans that
paid off.

Supper was delicious and after a little Happy Birthday presentation and a song for Ken (and Rob) we enjoyed our messy cupcakes. Everyone had gone on their way by 6:30 and Ken, Kim, Bill and I sat outside, pleased with how it turned out.

Happy Birthday, Ken!
(ps if you don't want that cupcake, Gibbs is
standing by)

The flies were trying to eat us alive so we said our goodnights and came indoors. We had a high of 29C/85F with the occasional breeze under mostly sunny skies.

What a great day! I know Rob, my Buddy, would have appreciated the cupcakes. 💕

The sunset was so much prettier than this.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

The BNB and Company!

The Ridge

On Monday, July 28th I remained in bed until 7 am. I was plenty comfortable and had slept well. Bill was up with Gibbs around 6:30. Nothing unusual there, but it sure was nice that they slept in an extra hour today. No alarm to get Bill moving. 😁

Good morning!
Playtime, Gibbs?

He had decided to get out the weed whacker and finish what he started the other night. I went out, cleaned the outhouse, watered my vegetables and put out the reservation sign on the 'premier' site beside Mike's. Company was coming today for a few days.

Site reserved for Wilson

At 9:30, I left to go and clean the Williamsford bnb. Already, 6 weeks has gone by and Robin has to take Andrew to the airport. The house was left in good condition so I went about stripping, then remaking beds and everything else involved to prepare it for 5 guests tonight.

Taking the back roads

At 11:30, I was on my way home. Bill and I had some lunch and then we sat outside together with Gibbs.

One of my Dahlias

It was another hot day so we sat in the shade. I took my book out around 2:15 and it was almost 2:30 exactly when Ken and Kim drove up in their Journey. 💗

Waiting for company

The Journey arrives.

Ken set up while Kim, Bill and I sat in the screen tent, waiting for him to join us. There wasn't enough shade in there for 4 of us so we moved over to the firepit area. Let's just say we had a long Happy Hour, as usual on our first night together.

Happy Hour(s)
but who's counting?

We discussed all things and without mentioning what time we broke up, we went our own way to have supper. Sssh! Bill and I had the leftover turkey roast, potatoes and coleslaw. It didn't look like much but it filled us except for a tiny hole - hmm just enough room for a homemade butter tart!!

Love those cloud speckled skies!
The sun peeks through the trees
as we scrounge for every morsel of shade.

Thank you, Ken, er.........Door Dash, it was delicious! Bill washed the few cups that don't go in the dishwasher and while I finished my blog, he went upstairs with Gibbs. We've had the a/c running today again, it reached a high of 31C/88F and was quite necessary.

Supper looked the same as last night
EXCEPT for this scrumptious dessert.

There was a pleasant breeze throughout the day but not steady. We've enjoyed today and especially the fact that our friends are here. We always have a great time.

Good night!

Thank you for your visit too!

A Lovely Sunday

 The Ridge

On Sunday, July 27th we were all awake around 3 am. Me, when I felt spatters of rain coming in from my open window and Bill, well, I'm not sure what woke him. He was up and downstairs with Gibbs 'watching' the storm.

Good morning!
It was a heavy rain and
I appreciate it very much.
No watering!

I only felt the rain and then saw some lightning. I don't recall whether I heard thunder but I know it rained quite heavy for a while. Soon, I dropped  back off to sleep. We were up at 6:15 again, Bill out with Gibbs and me doing my morning stretches.

This is the sky on the way to the Mat.
Doesn't look much like 'hanging clothes'
weather, right?

He was going flying and I was doing laundry so we sorted the clothes and Bill put the basket in Ptooties. I was opening the Mat door at 7 and walked into a totally different looking laundromat than last time.

But it all changed.
My camera shows that cloud really black,
but it truly wasn't. That is
blue sky, however.

No dryer sheets! No mud on the floor! Nice. Dollar Store Dave arrived soon after as did one of the chatty fellows that I see weekly now. He has a trailer at a park outside of town so I can expect to see him for a few more weeks.

It wasn't a real surprise to find that Sandy had added up my hours and left my pay in the office. He has been on the ball this summer! So, I stopped at the bank, after getting a bottle of water filled, and deposited my cash.

I was making my lunch and
Gibbs was playing nonchalant.
No cheese coming out of the
fridge today, pooch.

The forecast was not calling for any more rain today so even though the sky was still gray with clouds, I took the clothes home to hang. It was pleasant when we got up and was soon becoming warmer. There was and has been a lovely breeze all day, which helps a lot.

Bacon and eggs for lunch.
Yum.

I didn't bother closing windows because of the breeze and haven't regretted that decsion at all. Bill was home for lunch and I made us bacon and eggs for a nice change. He dozed beside me while I read and then we both went out to cut grass.

After the grass was cut, I cooled off in the
King chairs, in the shade.
I needed to straighten the screen tent,
obviously.
(and I did)

That's when the day heated up for me. First, I had to get the clothes off the line so Bill could cut the berm and they'd dried very quickly. Pushing that mower around for 30 minutes wears me out. No, it isn't that heavy, it is the exertion in the heat.

Little Mrs. Hummingbird tasted almost
every single Corabelle flower.

When I finished the lawn, I was not a pretty sight. Ask Gibbs. Red in the face, clothes sticking to me with sweat so I wasted no time and had a wonderful cool shower. Mucho better!! 😂

There was a nice breeze wafting across the
patio, we both enjoyed it.

My entertainment as I sat outside.

Gibbs and I sat out on the shaded patio while I read and when the flies wouldn't leave me alone........I didn't spray.....we came inside to read some more. For supper, Madame IP cooked the last half of a turkey roast that was in the freezer.

I obviously wouldn't win any
magazine covers for displays,
but the meal was good!

Took all of 15 minutes along with a couple of potatoes. Coleslaw on the side would be enough to fill us both.

A few pictures were being shared
from other family members so i have
proof that I was there too.

This has been a really nice day, another 28C/83F summer day. We have some company coming tomorrow so we're looking forward to that.

That cake was gooooood!
Good night y'all!

Thank you for your visit.

What was I Thinking? Party Time!

 The Ridge

On Saturday, July 26th I basically had a free morning. Bill was up to go flying and even though I was up at 6:30ish, I had no early commitments. It was a warm start to the day but it felt cool enough that I didn't start the a/c. We had a party to go to after lunch so would see how hot it got by then.

Good morning!
I was up on time to catch this
mystic sunrise.

After my tea, we went out to check my vegetable plants and they seem to be doing fine. Except the Brussel Sprouts. Well, I don't know anything about growing them so maybe the bugs (earwigs?) that are eating the leaves have already put a halt on any production. I had to try.

If Bill didn't have so many other things
on the go, he could have worked at fixing the old
lamp, but he found this new one and it's quite nice.
Fits easier between our chairs, no bulky shade
and it even has a remote! (of course!)

I vacuumed the Suite and did a quick dusting, you know how I feel about that task. Bill ordered us a new standing lamp for in between our recliners and it arrived this morning. That gave me the opportunity to pull those chairs out and vacuum behind and under those too.

The new lamp is very modern (chic, if you will) so I put it in place and took the old one out to the Bunky. I kept the shade for our previous one out there and offered this one to Robin to sell. It needs some adjustment around the socket base, I'm sure someone can fix it.

Quite a while ago, before I knew about
her party, I made these for Donna.
The bottom is her card. Donna loves yoga.
The top is a little wooden plaque for hanging or standing.
Elephants are her most favourite animal,
her house is full of them.
Good thing she doesn't have to feed them!

I poked around in the Bunky; it badly needed to be straightened up and I put together some books and puzzles for her sale as well. Time to pamper a bit, I trimmed my toe nails and painted them a bright pink and that was pretty much all the time I had before lunch.

Not sure why Donna was barbecuing
at her own party but that changed.
Two of my sisters, Gayle has that
'go away little sis, look', but I didn't.

I finished my sandwich just as Bill returned from the field. He had his snooze and we drove over to the Acreage for a surprise 75th party for Donna. She didn't know so many were coming, thinking it was a day for them to spend with her daughters.

Just a few candid shots
of the gathering.

The weather was 'iffy' after 4:30, possible rain showers, but it held off until close to 5 and just a few light spatters had us move our chairs under the shelter we put the cover on yesterday.

Donna's brother-in-laws took over
the lifters.
Thanks Bill and John, it all tasted great.

It was a nice gathering, I didn't count but maybe 30 guests, off and on.

The food was plentiful and
all very good.

Back home, we didn't need supper as Joanne, Wendy and Gerry had supplied salads, burgers and dogs. I totally pulled a senior moment and sat in my chair to watch more of the Bones series. Bill had gone upstairs to watch one of his movies and at 9, he asked if I did my blog. Crapadoodle!

Donna's girls, Joanne and Wendy, with
Gerry's help planned this surprise party.
She was surprised!

I forgot completely all about it and honest, all I drank was my non-alcoholic wine so I had no excuse. Oh well, the world didn't stop and I slept well with no regrets. 😀😅 It was a great day.It reached 29C/84F and before 10, there was a bit more rain.

Happy Birthday, Donna!
Good night!

Thank you for popping by.

Cleaning and Experiencing Sadness

The Ridge

On Friday, July 25th it was around 6:15 again when I got up. Seems, if I'm in bed by 9:30, my body has had enough sleep after 9 hours! Ha ha. I'm a morning person and that explains my early to bed, early to rise habit.

Good morning!
Yay, my moonflowers are coming back!

Bill left at 6:30 and I headed in to the Mat to clean at 6:45. The door must have just unlocked on its own timer a minute or so before I arrived.

I understand finding muddy floors after the rain,
no problem, but 12 lint sheets?
Come on!

There were 3 customers, one new and two regular. One being my friend, Trudy; I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks so we had a good catchup.

Sorry Trudy, caught her off guard
but she is such a nice young lady.

We show each other the crafts we've made in the meantime. For her, she crochets like crazy something she taught herself since April when she quit smoking. She sells her wares and they are so darned cute. She also makes puppy cookies so will bring me a few for Gibbs to try next time.

I was home shortly after 8:30 and decided on an outfit for a visitation Dot and I were going to. Dot picked me up at 10 and we drove to Flesherton. Our good friend, Pat, her daughter, Sandra and Bill have lost another family member. As usual, it was a sad affair, Shawn was a young 35 year old.

Such a handsome young man,
gone too soon.

We stayed for over an hour, had a tea and snack with Pat and returned home to Gibbs. Yes, he was excited that Dot stopped to say hello and we sat on the patio catching up over the lunch hour. I'm sure, if we'd let him, Gibbs would have been in her truck, but he finally came back and sat with me to watch her leave.

Bill got home just as I finished a tomato and lettuce sandwich. Home grown tomatoes!! Oh my, what a difference in taste! It was delicious.

We drove over to the Acreage to get water and help Donna and Gerry put the cover on their shelter. It is a 4 person job!

Okay, 8 hands were too many for this part
so I supervised with Gibbs and took a picture.

Supper was fish and chips for Bill and fish, fried mushrooms, reheated cauliflower and fresh tomatoes for me. Quite a mixed-up combination but it filled me. Maybe chips and cheese later, we'll see. I worked on my blog and Bill went out to dump our black tank. He took B.B. down to prepare for his morning of flying. Guess what?? My sweetie is on vacation for a week!! 💗💗💗

Tough job supervising in the heat!
He was glad we were going home
but doesn't want to be left behind!

This was a good day, even though sad, we visited with some close friends too. It will either be reading or more tv episodes tonight and I'll be in bed by 10.

It all tasted great. I need to get
the mushrooms eaten up before they go bad.

I hope your weather has been good to you. The rain last night was very welcome and the day 'after the storm' turned lovely. We had a high today of 27C/80F but felt like 33C/92F.

I'm sure this is why I don't dust often.
Good night!

Thanks for stopping in!
