The Ridge
On Sunday, July 6th I woke from a pretty good sleep at 6:15. At least that is the first time I looked at the clock. Bill was downstairs finishing breakfast and Gibbs was beside me. The only thing I had on my agenda was a visit to see my sister in the hospital.
On Bill's agenda, he was going flying. It was too hot to be doing anything outside so it would be an inside air-conditioned day, for Gibbs as well. I did have my tea outside with the little guy after Bill left and other than me eyeballing a raccoon wandering down the corral hill (again), nothing unusual. 😆

This was meant to be a picture
of Daddy leaving in Black Beauty.
But I missed him.
Gibbs didn't.
Gibbs didn't see him, again. Phew! He came from one side of the lane to the other and into the pond. It was a lovely morning but the temperature was on the rise again for one more day. I had my shower after playing my games and at 9:20 left Gibbs in charge and pulled out.

This is my latest owl and
I thought it might cheer someone up.
Who? Who? Cathy!
I picked Donna up at the Acreage, just down two concessions. We arrived in Owen Sound at the hospital to see our oldest sibling, Cathy, around 10. Aren't hospitals fun? We were like 2 lost souls, neither of us with any good sense of direction, at each intersecting corrider. 😂😂
We found her and got a huge surprised smile at our visit. Her original 'day surgery' turned into much more, which is very disheartening to say the least. She will be kept until they clear up an issue she encountered during recovery.

She's looking pretty good but I can't do much about making hospital food look great. Egg salad and soup today. Looked not too bad! Eat up, sis!
It was a great visit and when they sat her up in her chair for lunch, we said our goodbyes. It was nice to see her so chipper, although we know it won't always be that way. She was having visitors after lunch too, which is great.

Cathy says she doesn't have much of an appetite, so hopefully this won't tease her. It was very good at a quaint little bakery cafe.
We stumbled through Owen Sound trying to find the favourite European Bakery & Cafe........duh, at least we laughed about it and were seated at a table for 2 by 12:30. We each had quiche and caesar salad, which were equally delicious.
I dropped Donna back off at the Acreage at 2 and scooted home to my boys. Mike had recently left for home and Bill and Gibbs were inside in the coolness of the Suite. We remained there for the rest of the evening.

These boys were huge! I should have stopped at only 1 but 1/2 of the second went in the garbage.
Before supper, I went out and pumped out 2 watering cans of water from the rain barrel. My vegetables were looking mighty thirsty, as were my potted flowers. Bill cooked us hotdogs for supper, huge ones, and after consuming 1 1/2 I was full.

We are going through a lot of
this lately. Gibbs and I mostly but
as of late, Bill is drinking his fair share too.
There is rain and a possible storm in the forecast for this evening so maybe they will get a natural dousing too. This has been a good day, reaching it's peak of 31C/88F mid afternoon. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler after the rain. We'll see.

This kind of natural devastation breaks
everyone's heart.
From this distance, all we can do is pray. 😪
Good night.
Thank you for stopping by.

We finally got some rain last night, 1/2 inch which is awesome and got the rain barrel mostly filled. Our temperatures have dropped and I hope that yours get a bit more comfortable very soon.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Ours dropped today, Monday, after a lovely rain last evening and overnight. Yay!
DeleteMy heart is broken for those poor folks in Texas.
ReplyDeleteYes, mine too. So very sad.
DeletePrayers for you sister.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cheryl.
DeleteRead your posts every day. I have seen you talking about concessions. Could you explain them? Thanks Roger
ReplyDeleteThank you for your daily read, Roger. I've answered in my next post.
DeleteGlad your sister is doing better. Yeah, I wouldn't be too hungry either, looking at her lunch. I've been watching the Texas flood every day. It's incredible the damage done and the lives lost. I won't ever be camping near a river again if rain is in sight.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy has had some really down days as she is 3 hours from home and her hubby isn't able to drive right now. :(
DeleteThat flooding is terrible! It sure makes you rethink where you park or live!!
Wishing your sister Cathy a speedy recovery. No one wants to eat hospital food for very long.
ReplyDeleteThe tragedy in Texas is heartbreaking. I hope they are able to find all those who remain missing, for their family's sake at least.
Thank you, on Cathy's behalf.
DeleteI cannot even imagine what the families are going through after losing members and/or not being able to locate them. Devastating.
It's pretty tough staying active in this hot weather!
