The Ridge
On Tuesday, July 22nd I never heard a thing until 6:20. That was Bill in the bathroom brushing his teeth. Holy crap, I guess that was a good sleep!

Good morning!
After supper last night, my sweetie,
after working a full day, got his trimmer and
worked outside until 9. 💗
I was up last night watching TV until 11, that explains it. When I woke up, I formulated (sounds good,eh?) a plan for part of my day. 🤔Weeding didn't appeal to me in a garden that was out of control, but edging around my small gardens up here, did.
S
While Gibbs supervised, I edged the 2 gardens.
Top left picture shows what a mess the 'lilac' garden
was. It was time to do something.
At 9, I had finished my tea and had some yogurt so we went out. Gibbs supervised while I crawled around and troweled a fully along the garden edges. I went seep enough so it would be easy to cut with the mower and to make it obvious where grass stops and garden begins.

Wait a minute!! I THOUGHT
he was on the job!
Bill called at noon as I was taking a break to inform me he was done for the day. 🤗 he was going to pick Mikes trailer up and return it home. He had a good weekend away at Murray's campout.

We were taking our break when Bill
called. It's a perfect afternoon for him to be
off!
I finished digging and then went around the outhouse and pulled the vine off the trees and bushes. It's the one that takes over EVERYTHING if you let it. I have a personal vendetta against it, it makes me so frustrated! I got what I could and then pulled my bags of veggies over to a more sheltered spot.
I need to be able to cover them temporarily when the heat threatens them. Too much sun is not good. I'll uncover them in the morning.

Mike's trailer is back home for a week or so.
Bill came up the lane around noon and got Mike's trailer up on the boards. While he had his snooze with Gibbs, I went out and cleaned up the piles of grass, weeds and rocks. I am pleased with the work I did around the beds.

Most of the rocks went over the hill
down to the pond.
There were a lot!
Admiring my work today.
Even around Pat's Hibiscus, she has
a new little trench too.
I worked on the puzzle until the boys got up and Bill went out to do more weed trimming while I got supper started. I found a 1.6 lb. beef boneless brisket pot roast at Walmart for 12$.

I haven't solved the mystery yet, but I'm
getting hungry!!
Madame IP cooked it like nobody's business! With potatoes, onions, gravy, coleslaw and fried mushrooms, it was a meal! We finished the fresh fruit for dessert and cleaned the dishes up.

Supper, (it was a Sunday meal on
a Tuesday night), was delicious!!
I have leftovers and another one of
these roasts in the freezer.
Our Starlink had been giving us grief lately, but we think we've figured out the problem. We'll see if Bill's remedy has it fixed next week on his vacation. 👌With a high of 25C/75F, full sun and no wind we truly enjoyed it.
full of energy!
Good night!
Thank you for stopping by.

Someone's got the zoomies!!! You are doing a great job on the garden. I don't have quite that much motivation. Back in the old days, we would stick four metal stakes in the ground and bend PVC pipe over the plants, sticking each end on one of the stakes. That made it easy to throw a net over the veggies to protect them from the sun. Worked like a charm, and is what I will do next year. The sun just got too hot too fast.
ReplyDeleteHe had the zoomies all right! haha
DeleteThat's a great idea. I need to figure something out for next summer. Maybe then I can put them back up in the original garden area............um, except for watering, far to lug the watering cans.
Nice edging - that was a lot along the fence too! Gibbs is resting before his Zoomies! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, it took a long time but surprisingly, the ground wasn't too hard, thank you rain.
DeleteBindweed, I think! The next door neighbour has it in their yard and it has been creeping through the fence into my raised flower bed. So freaking annoying.
ReplyDeleteI started my veg on the east side of the yard, but found the really hot days meant watering at least twice a day. I've now moved them to the north side of the house. They get the full sun in the morning, but by afternoon are shaded somewhat. Of course, it's cooled off a lot since those really hot days! But they are happier for certain. We had a bit of rain last night so I'll only water this evening, if they need it.
Bindweed flowers though, this does not. It looks like huge grape leaves. I'll get a picture and use my Google lens to get the name, it's terrible!
DeleteI've been moving my plants around and still haven't found the ideal spot. They are hard to drag in those grow bags so next year, I have smaller ones and will not put as much dirt in the bigger ones.
Our youngest son planted some of those bags and found he had to water them constantly as they dried out all the time. We are getting some rain almost every day as well as smoke from the fires in the north. The only going out for short bursts of work between showers and so as not to get a lungful of fire particulates, means weeding has gone by the wayside for a bit.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Last year they were great but it wasn't as hot either and I moved to get MORE sun! LOL
DeleteFeel bad about your smokey air but I've learned that weeds will wait for me.
We had the same dinner today!
ReplyDeleteInteresting!
