The Ridge
On Monday, July 21st we were all awake early. Again, I was in bed at 9:30. After my blog was done, I went up to watch a couple more episodes of Bones since Bill was downstairs reading. He is almost finished his second J.A. Jance book. 😊
Bill didn't have to drive as far this morning, they were meeting at Mike's in Mildmay, so it was a bit after 6:30 when he left. I was done sleeping so was downstairs at 6:15. I made my tea and drove in to the Mat for today's cleaning.

Such a gorgeous day Perfect for outside reading.
I was alone and did the big dryer lint trays so an hour and a half later, was finished. M had asked if I would pick him up a loaf of bread so did that at Foodland and scooted home. I did some banking and got out my sewing machine.

Robin gave us a jar of 'pickles'
from Newfoundland.
Nice of her to think of us.
I will enjoy them.
Bill wears his shorts, jeans and t-shirts to death while working, which is a good thing. He gets his money's worth out of them! So, when he ripped a pair of jean shorts, I offered to sew them. My sewing skills are not good at all but for work, it would do.
Turns out that the relationship between me and my machine was not all that good today and after multiple tries, the shorts ended up in the garbage. I should have done that in the first place, as Bill suggested. 😉 Where are all my blogging friends who sew well when I need them? 😂

This is today's puzzle. 550 pieces of an unknown picture. I read the story so hope I can figure it out!
I messaged Robin and drove over for a visit and to deliver her goodies. She was tickled pink with both of my creations and that made me very happy. Poor girl came home from Nfld with a bad batch of shingles. I've heard of more and more cases and hers are quite nasty. 😒

This is how far I got.
Hmm, Mrs. Peacock in the kitchen with
the measuring spoons?
Back home, I had lunch and then took my book out to the gazebo. Gibbs found shade and after battling regular flys for 15 minutes, I doused myself with the homemade spray that my girlfriend and her daughter make. That did the trick, they were gone!!

It has a pleasant smell, isn't sticky
and yes, I wash it off before Gibbs licks me.
It works!
I wasted no time and ordered 4 more bottles so we had them on hand. It doesn't work for black flys, seems nothing does, but for mosquitoes and house flys - Bingo! I soon put Gibbs inside, where he was quite happy to be, and started a puzzle in the Bunky. This will be fun, another mystery with no picture.

I don't have to ask twice when it is time
'wanna go get the mail?'
Bill was home by 5 again and he dozed while I read some more until supper time. He grilled his famous bacon cheeseburgers and they were perfect! Robin gifted us with a jar of cauliflower and onion pickles from Nfld but it is more like chutney. I put some on my burger and quite like it. Bill isn't keen on 'new and different'. 😋

Perfect burgers again.
I need to have the bun though,
I just have to!
He made his lunch and went out to do some weed trimming. Tomorrow I have nothing going on so will get out and do some more cutting or weeding as well, I was having a low key day today. ðŸ¤

You can tell when I don't have enough pictures from today. This is from 2013, our back yard fence at our London home.
This has been a really nice day. We had blue skies and sunshine from beginning to end. With 20C/69F it was almost perfect!

We had a small postage stamp backyard
but it was still very nice.
Good night!
Thank you for popping around!

So peaceful
ReplyDeleteYes, I have to agree.
DeleteWatched an interview and the guy said his grandma loved puzzles and would ask that she be given them by family in a grocery bag without the box, just the pieces. She didn't want anything to give her hints. Wouldn't that be a fun surprise to work on.
ReplyDeleteOh my! What a challenge!
DeleteMy theory .... just buy new shorts!! It's not worth the hassle. Bill was right, but don't tell him!! lol
ReplyDeleteHaha yup, that's the plan!!
DeleteNice day! I'd love to have a gazebo like yours. Nice place to hang out and read on a warm summer day.
ReplyDeleteIt really was! It is a nice easy gazebo to put up too. All by myself.
DeleteThe one thing I don't miss from Ontario is the black flies. Mind you our mosquitoes can be quite a pain in the you know what.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I never realized black flies were just an Ontario thing but I've heard that lately. Lucky you!
