She's Hot! Run into Town, Run to the Neighbours, LOL

The Ridge

On Thursday, July 24th I had no where to be before 10 but at 6:15, got up anyway. We read our books and I went to bed at 9:30. My explanation as to why the blog wasn't done (again) was how tired I was.

Good morning!
It was cloudy from the get-go.

Bill was off to work at 6:30 and I hopped in the shower.  It was a warm night for sleeping, I should have removed the duvet but instead, fought with it all night. Duh! It only dropped to 20C/69F overnight and yes, my window was open.

My next book.
Bill says it is a good one.

Gibbs and I had a quiet couple of hours which meant getting my blog written and him catching a few more zzzz's.🐕 At a few minutes to 10, I put the hammock away, expecting rain at some point, and drove around the corner to M's.

A-quilling I will go.

We were only in town for an hour and when I returned, I got out my quilling. I had an idea of something to make. I barely got my coffee made at 11:15 and I saw Bill come up the lane in Black Beauty. He knew it would be a short day. 😀

If you look straight ahead, down the hill,
you might catch a glimpse of Bill and Jazz.
Gibbs watched him as long as he could.

He didn't waste any time and had lunch before he hopped into the shower. Jazz took him into Hanover to First Choice Haircutters for a trim. He was getting a bit shaggy, just the way I like it, so it was time for a cut. Ha ha.

It was very hot, so I had the a/c on.
What a blessing!

When he returned, I was full into quilling. He had a snooze with Gibbs and I quietly worked away. I won't tell you what it is yet, as it is for something/someone down the road.....who possibly reads my blog.

This was just the beginning.

We started getting warnings on the weather channel about a heavy thunderstorm around us for the next hour. We watched the sky darken to the north, and darken even more to the west. Was it going to go around us or not?

It was quick and easy to heat up our
leftover potatoes, roast and gravy.
Gibbs even got drippings of the gravy so
he cleaned up all of his supper too.

We had leftovers for supper, so I quickly heated them up and Bill packed our pertinent items and closed the sheds.

Those clouds were dark but moving pretty steady

The radar showed that the storm might miss us but when it became so black all around us, pulled slides in and drove to Dot and Gords'.  Dot was ready, at her front door. 💗

Getting out of 'Dodge' so to speak.

We were welcomed heartily and had a good little chit chat while waiting it out. Sheets of rain were visible as we all stood in their front room with the door open to the porch. Gibbs was excited/nervous and was happy to see her friends, Caper included.

From their porch, we could watch off to the
northwest without getting too wet.

See the white dots to the left,
just under her pot hook?
Our home and Mike's trailer were still there.

In about 40 minutes, it seemed to have passed on and we returned home.

There we are!

I was worried about my vegetables, sitting in the direct route of the wind and rain but all was well in that department. Yay! They will be well watered, that's for sure!

The sky cleared enough to let us know it was over
and we drove home.

I worked on my blog and Bill did the bank reconciliations before we settled in for the night. Gord said it would be a nice sunset and although pictures probably won't be ready for this blog, you'll see them tomorrow if they are any good. 😉

My veggies survived, one tomato plant needed
straightening is all. 😊

Lots of clouds setting up for a nice sunset.
👏
Safe and sound back home again.
Thanks Dot and Gord. (& Caper)

It was a great day. Seems it doesn't matter if we're stuck inside, are outside or are on the move all day, I enjoy my days. Nice to see our neighbours, even briefly, but we need to have them over this coming week for a campfire.

Gosh, every day is Blursday for me!
Good night!

Thank you for your visit too!

  1. Agreed, I never know what day of the week it is unless D reminds me. Since I've retired, I've always said everyday is Friday, because I don't have to work the next day, and my EDO's were on Fridays.
Glad the storm wasn't worse that it ended up being. We may get a thunderstorm here today but the risk is quite low. It seems to miss us a lot.

    1. Funny, I can go clean the Mat at 7 and by the time I start with supper, I'm asking Bill "did I clean today?" lol

  2. I don't remember you having this bad weather the last few years. Glad you have a place to ride out the storm.

    1. Last year, it hit us twice a week apart and that was it. Getting worse indeed. Darn.
