The Ridge
On Friday, Aug. 8th I heard Bill moving about downstairs at 6:15 before I remembered that he and Billy were taking today off. Billy was involved in a ball event with his son. My Bill, (so many Bills!), was going to get his yearly bloodwork done and then carrying on to Costco in Guelph.

Good morning!
I didn't need to go to either so Bill was going to go to Mississauge to one of his hobby stores in the same trip. I got up by 6:30 and left for town to clean the Mat around 6:45. Another day with no customers, although 3 dryers had clothes in them, obviously from last night. 😲

The lone goose led the way down the
road until he flew into the field.
His friends have all left. 😏
I went to fill a water bottle and scooted home. After agreeing on a time to pick M up, I made a coffee, grabbed my book and crossword and headed out at 9:30. He was 2 hours in the hospital, which wasn't terrible since I was prepared. I didn't want to drive home when we had no idea how long he'd be.

I like the view from the park.
So did the artist. He was just off to
the left painting this shot.
I found a shady spot at Riverside Park and even took a little walk to the dam at that side of town. There was an artist painting a picture of the view right in front of me but I didn't feel right taking a picture of him and his creation so refrained. 😃

I never noticed this plaque before.
Maybe because I didn't know our neighbours
with the same surname.
When I returned home at noon, Bill wasn't home yet but at 12:30 he messaged his whereabouts giving me an idea when to expect him. I had my lunch and read for a while. He came in around 2 and unloaded 'our' purchases, a start to the winter needs, plus 'his' purchases from the hobby store.

Don't you just love the contrast of the
blue house against the natural beauty of the dam?
Yes, a large box came inside and my pilot was smiling. 😁😂 Before I left home this morning, we had all windows closed so I could put the a/c on. It was going to be another humid day. We stayed inside for most of the afternoon, other than Gibbs and I walked to check the mail.

A very heatall lthy milkweed. The purple plant is called Purple Loosestrife. (I had to look it up) An invasive wetland plant but it sure is pretty here.
For supper, we decided on simple. Again. Grilled cheese sandwiches and they were very good. I still had some sour dough bread in the freezer to eat up so took a couple of pieces out and sliced onions for my sandwich. Yum.

He has been saving for a new plane
and today was the day!
We were told of a possible rain shower and storm but other than a few drops, enough to cover any yard sales around town (Robin's included), but not enough to water any plants significantly. Darn! Maybe overnight.

Not sure if the clouds will move out
for us to see the Aurora Borealis.
Thank you to one of my commenters
for the tip though!
So.........Moonflowers. Pretty garden flowers for sure and I'm pleased that mine are slowly returning. Our friends told me that they actually bloom after dusk, to which my addled brain didn't know (hence the name, duh!), thinking they were morning bloomers.

The before and after.
It took less than a minute.
Last night, I made a nuisance of myself, running out to check one that was close 4 times! Lastly, at 9 pm, in the near dark, I saw a change and turned on my video. I was so excited! I'll try and share as much as I can for you, if you've never witnessed it. Enjoy!
Temperatures were a bit lower than Thursday but the humidity was higher. We are thankful for the air conditioner today.

A quick and easy supper. Oh, delicious too! Good night!
Thank you for stopping by on this lovely day.

Have never heard of Moonflowers before - fun to watch open! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBills plane sure is purrrty!! Very nice.
The Moonflowers are pretty, why'd I think their blooms opened with the sun.
DeleteBill thinks his plane is pretty too!
Perfect-looking grilled cheese you've got there. We need to do more of that for dinners. It's always nice when you earn a little "scratch" and get to treat yourself.
ReplyDeleteGrilled cheese on sour dough is the best! :)
DeleteHi Honey ... I'M HOME! With a new plane! LOL It's a beauty Bill. Can't wait to see you fly it this winter. Patsy ... you are a Saint to help out M.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, that's about it! Ah, thank you , I know he appreciates it.
DeleteI had no idea that a moonflower would open that quickly. Isn't that amazing! Thanks for sharing the video.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't see the Aurora either, as we had a huge thunderstorm instead. That followed the heavy rains we got in the afternoon.
I had no idea either until Ken and Kim told me. I missed last night's blooming though, didn't realize a second one was so close.
DeleteI was impressed by your Moonflower video, and by Bill's plane!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
