The Ridge
On Sunday, Aug. 17th for some reason, I was awake and downstairs before 7. I went upstairs to watch an episode of Bones and kept falling asleep. Therefore, at 9:30, tv off, undressed, kiss goodnight and I crawled into bed. So, I'd had enough sleep, I guess.

| Good morning! |
All windows were open, at least most of them, and when I heard the thunder and saw lightning at 1:00, I realized I had been too tired to put my ear plugs in last night. Otherwise, I don't know what I would have heard. Yet, I still didn't feel the need to sleep in.
It was a 'good' storm, with a fair bit of rain and one that Daddy would have loved. He would have been out on the porch, foot up on the window ledge, watching - if we had a porch. 💗 We needed the rain and when the storm ended an hour later, we went back to sleep.

| This is our rain barrel FULL after last night's rain. |
The day was overcast and very wet out there so Bill didn't have any hopes of flying. Fog rolled in around 7:30 and later in the morning, we had more rain showers. Good! My plants, vegetables and flowers alike are thankful!

Bill worked in the Hangar for the morning, and I stayed inside with Gibbs. It was cool and damp, if you can believe me saying that, so it wasn't until after lunch that we went outside. Making bookmarks have now grabbed my interest so I wanted to delve in. 😃

I loved the time with my cuddle bum today.
He fell asleep on my lap while I worked away.
💘💞
I appreciated the idea from one of my commentors (whom had no name) to make Robin's bookmark a .....wait for it, a robin. Duh, why didn't I think of that? So, that was the first one I made and then just carried on.....and on.....and on.

Walked down the lane together.
Notice my long pants and hoody?
After yesterday's humid day....
It was a chilly wind!
It did warm up to about 20C/68F, which was nice. It was windy, off and on, and Gibbs and I returned from 'checking the pretend mail' with messy hair! 😂 I came in from the Bunky after my tea and after finishing 8 bookmarks, including the earlier 3.

It eventually warmed up,
and these clouds moved on.
I started Madame IP on cooking a boneless beef brisket and prepped everything else. I should have started earlier so it was late by the time supper was ready. In the meantime, I watched another episode of Bones. So, long story short, the meat was not good at all.

Dahlias at the start
of the laneway.
Even the short one that got
nipped off in its prime.
😂
Whether it was because I didn't set it to cook long enough or too long.....it was tough and after watching Bill push through it, the rest was tossed. I had very few pieces and didn't enjoy those. We did enjoy the fried potatoes, corn and my spaghetti sauce.

These were fun!
Can you see the robins?
That's the best I can do.
After clean up, and an apology to my sweetie, he made his lunch for tomorrow. Back to the job after a few nice days off. I worked on my blog and settled to watch tv. I'm close to finishing my book though too, so maybe that will take precedence.

The Hibiscus is popping.
The rain again did a number on these blooms.

My potted plants are
happy outside too.
It was a good day here, with no pressure, no jobs for either of us. We loved it!

A sleepy boy today
but he wanted his own chair beside mine.
Good night!
Thank you for your visit.

ReplyDeleteHa ha, thanks Barb! I loved the idea!
DeleteBeautiful bookmarks!
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteOh girlfriend ... beef brisket is one of the toughest cuts of meat. It needs to be cooked low and slow for many hours. LOVE your bookmarks!!!
ReplyDeleteWoe is me. It is the second one I've had and I know it turned out awesome! My fault for being in a rush.
DeleteThank you Nancy.
Your bookmarks are very cute! I'm sure the cooler day felt nice after all the heat.
ReplyDeleteThank you Maebeme. The cooler day did feel refreshing and today, Monday, much nicer!
DeleteI love those bookmarks. How do they do closing into books? I'm always concerned about putting any design far enough down to have to be inside the book. Glad you're still enjoying quilling!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jess! I'm using the 3mm and although they may squash a bit, I hope no one sits on the book! haha
DeleteThe book marks are lovely. You have really taken to your new hobby.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jackie, I'm loving it!
