Some Errands and Some Memories

The Ridge

On Wednesday, Aug. 27th I woke up around 6 when Bill was in the shower. By 6:30, he was down eating breakfast and I took my time getting up. I don't like to get in his way, distractions at our age mean we forget things. It's happened to both of us.

Good morning!
This was at the bridge in Durham,
while I was waiting in the car for M.

Before I forget, I missed reading a couple of comments from a few days ago so I have now responded and in this post, I will answer a request as well. When I posted a picture of the birthday card I made for my little brother, I was asked for an actual picture of his car. I'm happy to oblige!

Meet the real Ruckus

I didn't have to clean today, just run M into town for his errands. They were even cut short, after getting his water and drug store meds, he needed to return home. No, he isn't doing any better. I offered to get his beer and groceries but he wasn't feeling well enough to hang around.

Sitting up town, waiting.
It was a slow hour. LOL

So, I dropped him at home and came back myself to have lunch with Gibbs. In the meantime, I went out to do a bit of weeding in the Moonflower garden and snipped the tops off the irises alongside the Bunky. They look so messy once they're done blooming.

It's a start to all the cutting back
that is ahead of me so bit by bit,
I'll get 'er done.

I did nip back into town to Foodland to get Bill's cookies for lunch and stopped to pick up our Catch the Ace tickets from Jackie. I like her a lot, she and her hubby own Impact Tire, so I offered her a bookmark of her choice.

Jackie liked the purple flower
because it is a shared symbol for her
Mom who has passed. 💗
She grabbed it immediately.
I love that.

She was thrilled and picked the purple flower with blue background. I think it was Maebeme who liked that one. 😀 I could go back and check but I'm not going to. Back home once more, I was happy to have access to our printer again. It had taken a nose-dive into never never land.

My entertainer when we walked
down for the mail.

I printed off the Blue Mountain passes for my sisters and then decided to purge doubles of any pictures I had in my folders. That took me on a whole new adventure. Memories!! Oh, I love pictures of people and events that have taken place over the past years.

Let's start with our very first
Ridge campout.
George & Suzie, Gerry & Melinda
and Rob & Pat visited.
They had Sandra & Bill's wedding
that weekend.

Bill got his drone out
This was Aug. 2, 2017
Here come some memory photos. You most likely will not know the participants but Bill and I had fun reliving these times.

We had a lot of company our first
full summer here.
Megan and Neil from London

with their tent trailer.
That was Aug. 26, 27/ 2017.

Another fun couple came to stay
in our Bunky for a couple of nights.
Brenda and Randy, also from London.

Speaking of Brenda,
this was at a London clothing exchange
at our friend, Laurie's home.
I met Brenda working at the
school board and we became lifelong
friends.

I think you all know who this
lovely lady is.
Pat and Rob were frequent visitors
when it was possible.

This is a special picture
from our first campout
here on the Ridge.

That was the year of the bad rain storm and part of our laneway
was washed out. Gerry and Bill worked hard at moving the gravel
around so they were able to drive out the next day.

The front field is ours, where Bill cuts.
The top of the picture is our neighbour's
field and it isn't supposed to be a pond!
The left of the picture is actually the pond
on the west side of our lane.

One final memory picture today. It is very special too. Bill and our first little bum, Clemson.

Is this precious, or what?
Clemmy was 12 lbs. at his heaviest.

Back to today, Bill was home shortly after 5. He went directly to the Acreage and had a bladder full of water to transfer into our tank. He grilled bacon cheeseburgers while that took place and it was a yummy supper - of course!

A good old burger for supper.

We reached a higher temperature today of 19C/67F and only dropping to 13C/55F. We'll enjoy it as it gets cold again over the next 3 days. I hope you're rolling with the heat, cold, wet, dry as well as we are. The plants are happy although my harvesting has slowed down.

A picture from a couple of years ago.
Happy Birthday, Gayle, another older sister.

A sunset from 2017.
Why not, eh?

Thank you for stopping in. It has been a nice day.

  1. Love all your bookmarks. Again I say, it's so good of you to help out M. I know that can be a pain sometimes. Love going through old pictures.

    1. Thank you Nancy. Helping M is draining for sure, some days worse than others especially when he isn't well. It gives me one more reason to go south!

  2. Yes, I definitely like the ones with the patterned background. And it's no surprise I'd like the purple best - it is one of my favorite colours.

Wonderful memories! Going through old photos is a chore I need to accomplish one of these days. I used to keep every photo I took, now I'm more discerning and delete lots of them.

It sounds like M may be headed to the ER again soon.

    1. I thought it was you!
I need to go through a lot more, getting rid of sky pictures mostly, the others distract me so much! I just love seeing them all again.
M needs to be admitted but stubborn men are worse than stubborn cows!

  3. Hi Patsy, I’ve been reading your blog for so long and I remember those lovely people and their camping visits with you. I also remember that cute lil bum Clemson and now you have another adorable lil bum to keep you company and mind the house when you’re out. Just wanted to say hi and let you know I’ve enjoyed your blog for a long time even though I rarely comment!
