The Ridge
On Saturday, Aug. 23rd Bill was up at 3 and stepped outside for nature's call. We were all sleeping in a smaller bed than what we are used to but still slept very well, considering. The lapping of the water all around us was soothing.
We all got up around 6:30. There is a small toilet Bunky too, nicely accommodating those of us who can't use the great outfits as easily. 🤣 We met with Duncan in the kitchen and he made perked coffee and boiled the kettle for my tea.

To give perspective, all of the above pics are from the southwest side of the island. Nice access to the water from here.
Patty and I sat out on the rocks with our books and enjoyed the morning while Bill and Duncan did 'airplane' and other stuff. Gibbs is not fond of water, I may have told you, but has started to venture a little closer as the day wears on.

This is the docking side, where the sitting deck is. See Bill and Gibbs through the trees at the picnic table? 💕💕
We don't pressure but try to encourage him to not be afraid. It's when the waves come up to get him that he freaks. Haha. He is quite entertaining even when he doesn't try to be. He is loving it here and the freedom is a bonus.
We had lunch and then Bill went to our Bunky to read and have a snooze. Duncan, Patty and I played a rummy game called 500. We played 2 games and if I am allowed to brag, I won both games!🤗

Duncan tried very hard to
prevent me from taking this one!

Patty wanted to show off her little homemade ice cubes.
We went out to sit on the dock and it's like the sky could see us with the occasional rain drops. We were in and out a couple of times. Still lucky though, as it never amounted to much at all to keep us indoors for long.

I have to admit, this was delicious!
Some things I make well, haha.
For supper, we had our chili and homemade rolls. I must admit, it was awesome. Very filling too so we just had one of Patty's ice cream cookies for dessert. Not ice cream at all. 🤣

Sitting around after supper
until light rain chased us indoors.
We sat around the table for a while until our hosts were yawning and went to their Bunky at 8:30. Not wanting to use their lights, since they are on an inverter, in the kitchen, we also went to our Bunky and read by battery light.

Our sleep Bunky on the left
Kitchen Bunky on the right.
Turned out we were also very tired and after a couple of chapters we closed our books and went to sleep. It was 9 pm. Below, a couple more quick videos of Gibbs 'testing' the waters.
It was a windy day again but even though mostly cloudy with spatters of rain off and on, it was warm. I think we reached 24C/75F. Shorts weather for sure. A great day. Time is going by quickly.
They only use their wifi a couple of times during the day when Duncan turns the Starlink on. It also uses power and with no hydro, it is valuable time, so we abided by that, hence no time to sort through all the pictures for my blog. No big deal.

And capturing this last glimpse of sunset on the island was meaningful. Lovely! Good night!
Thank you for your patience with my blog and the many pictures.

WOW!! :) Trees, water!!, blue sky = Wonderful :)) Yup, narrow channels you need to slow down ~ usually a "no wake" zone! Beautiful area for the summer months! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteYes, they really have a nice spot for a get away. It isn't flat by any means but the cabins were all on site when they bought, I believe, and are perfectly situated.
DeleteWhat a great place to get away to, with all the natural beauty! Nothing better to sleep with the sound of water lapping against the rocks.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely summer place.
DeleteWow, it is so pretty there!!!
ReplyDeleteI would eventually get over my fear of water if it were mine. They have always been boaters of some sort so are really enjoying it, calling it home.
DeleteIt's beautiful there! The bunkys are so cute! Your chili looks so good!
ReplyDeleteYes, the Bunkies are very nice and accomodating.
DeleteGibbs is so cute testing the water and the island is beautiful.

Gibbs was quite funny. He obviously loved exploring their island.
DeleteI guess Gibbs is used to the desert ... not the water. Interesting and fun place to hang out.
