Go-Go-Go - Family 💕

The Ridge

On Thursday, Aug. 14th I was up and on my way to town at 6:45. Bill was up and followed a bit later to go to Hanover with Black Beauty. It was a real soupy mess out there with fog but you could still see to drive easily enough.

Good morning!

The fog lasted until around 9 and it depended on where you where before it would clear out completely. No one was at the Mat and I washed our sheets and 2  chair quilts while I cleaned. I was out in an hour meeting one customer as I closed up.

Instead of coming home, I drove to the car shop where Bill was taking B.B. for her 'checkup' to pick him up. When we get bloodwork, it doesn't cost us anything. When our pets or our vehicles need similar things, it's an arm and a leg! Oh well, we promised we'd look after her.

Another one waiting for me this
morning.

I popped into Giant Tiger while he walked to Canadian Tire and we met in the lot at Ptooties. After a fuel up, 2¢ cheaper than Durham, we returned back to our own town to fill a water bottle. By that time, we'd heard from Jess that she was on her way from Dorchester.

Hadley, our little 'ham'
in the hammock.
Easton is hiding underneath.

I still hadn't got 'my' area of grass cut so while I hung the sheets and quilts on the line, Bill got both mowers out and did what he could on the Cub Cadet. I soon joined with my mower and within 15 minutes, we were done.

Hadley was happy to hand out school
pictures for Grandma & Grandpa.
While we visited, the kids played War.
Hadley didn't invite us saying
that we wouldn't be good at it.
😂
Out of the mouths of babes, eh?

Our company arrived 10 minutes later. Good timing! Jess arrived at 10 with Easton and Hadley and that is such a joy. They come from north of Calgary, Alberta so we don't see them much at all, only in pictures.

We had a nice visit here in the shade on the patio and then at 11:30 drove into Country Corner Eatery for lunch. We don't have a lot of options but this is a family eatery with a kid's menu and all-day breakfast. We like it.

A busy place for Durham
right on the edge of town.

No matter who you are, I'm sure you've all seen children in a restaurant. 😏 Seldom do they stay in their chairs, and they aren't good at waiting. Well, these 2, 6 and 4 years were no different. They didn't misbehave but were just bored. Jess is a patient young lady. 💖 I had a quesadilla and forgot a picture!

Now I have to choose which one to put
in our frame.
One of these?

When my children were small, we never had the cash flow to even go to restaurants or even fast food so I didn't experience it for myself. Before we left, we got some pictures, one of which will go on our family wall.

Or one of these.
You need to note that Hadley immediately
dropped to her one knee to pose.
It's a sports thing. 💘

Jess followed us to the Ultramar where I topped her up with fuel for the 2 1/2 hr. drive to where she is staying with friends. She has a busy day today, meeting with her 3 sisters for a meal this evening before flying home on Saturday. A whirlwind visit, she arrived on Monday.

More pictures.
Jess took the left one.
Hadley took the middle one. (she's 4!)
Easton took the right one.
Better than I could!

They all turned out great.

Back home, we relaxed until Bill got the call that Black Beauty was ready. A big chunk out of the bank there but necessary. She's ready for the winter! We weren't too hungry for supper so at 6, we just made a sandwich. That was enough.

Black Beauty is waiting, sitting
beside a classic Chevrolet station wagon.
What year? You tell me!

This was a lovely day. Still a bit humid but the breeze made it bearable for sure. We still reached 27C/80F but with windows open all day, it was nice in the Suite and we were able to disconnect and use our solar for a change.

Just enough for supper.

Good night!

Thank you for your visit.

  3. What a fun, but short, visit with Jess and the kids. I'd probably choose the outdoor photo of the three of them, the one one the right. The ones indoors have a glare from the window, and the car in the left outside one is a bit distracting. All of the photos with you and Bill are great!

    1. Thank you, I think you're right and I never thought of the glare in the window.

  4. 60 Chevy it is. The 59 tail fin is a little bit more "swoopy", and is pretty much gone by 61
