Taking a Break to Earn Some Cash, Birthday Boy!

The Ridge

On Tuesday, Sept. 30th I woke up at 5:30 and rolled over to give my Sweetie a kiss before he got up. "Good morning and happy birthday". His turn to jump into another year of fun and adventure! 😉😄

Good morning
and
Happy Birthday, Bill!

He was up and ready for work, leaving shortly after 6:30. I had no where to be until 11 am, so made my tea and sat with Gibbs to play my online Wordle games. I've been on the hunt for the copy of our eye glass prescriptions for the last couple of days, as we both need to upgrade this year. Bill, especially. We can still get them checked down there.

I took the opportunity to
slip up to the berm and see
the sun come up.

Before I knew it, I had to leave for Williamsford to clean the bnb for Robin, so will deal with it later. When I arrived at the house at 11:10, the guests had not left and were no where in sight other than a vehicle in the drive.

That's when I noticed our
very own beautiful tree!
It was just tiny when I planted
my original garden up there,
now look at it!

I drove past and texted, then called Robin. Hmm, did I miss something? She and Andrew were on a flight to Saskatchewan so wasn't able to answer. I drove around town before coming back to make it obvious that I was waiting......about 75' from the lane.

Finally, they moseyed out, 4 of them, and proceeded, very slowly, to put socks and shoes on at the vehicle, in and out, in and out..........finally pulling out at 11:35. I was perturbed, I don't do well with obvious rudeness. They left, and (no, I didn't squeal tires) I quickly pulled in. LOL

The house was left so-so but in and out with shoes on, had freshly cut grass throughout. Dishes in the drying rack, burnt saucepan, another one sticky with ?? and water all over the kitchen and bathroom counters. Anyway, I went to work and informed Robin. She likes to give reviews too.

Robin said to throw
it out, but I tried baking soda
and boiling water (+ elbow grease)
and ta-dah!

By the time I finished cleaning and taking their bag of garbage out (they left it sitting on the kitchen floor with an empty bin outside the door), I locked up and left. With a quick message to M, who needed to go to town when I was able, I drove straight to his house.

That was a 2-stop hour, town was a zoo and he was longer in each store than usual. It was hot, sitting in the car, and that was mainly felt because we are usually there in the morning when the sun is at my back while I'm parked. Do I sound irritable? Well, not really, I earned $70. 💗

Country road with too much
reflection. Sorry.

Back home, Gibbs was excited to see me and met me with Goat in his mouth. It was almost 3 so no point in going to the Bunky. Giving myself a break from that, I finished my J.E. book and made myself a cup of tea in my newly glued mug. Thanks, Dear.

Speaking of........today is Bill's special day. Not a special # but really, the older we get, all of them are special, aren't they? I hope he is having a good day at work. Today, they started at Port Elgin on a upper deck repair at ReMax's realty office.

Of course, I made him
a card.

After an almost 'non-work-week' last week, he is anxious for some hours this one. 😉 I brought the burnt pot home from the bnb, boiled some baking soda and water in it and was able to scrub it clean. I'm happy about that, they are decent pots.

The birthday boy was home at 4:45, just after Gibbs went outside for a bit. I'm finding the winds cool today, maybe because we haven't had much wind over the last week. The sun is warm but it isn't making much difference to me. I need a hoody out there. (wimp)

We were low on water so since there is no rest for the wicked OR birthday boys, Bill drove to the Acreage within minutes of arriving home. My hero. 💖 Grilled bacon cheeseburgers for supper had him still 'at it' until we sat down to eat. Yummy.

This pretty tree is in Williamsford.

I finally figured out how to put a dvd in to watch tonight, seems since we got Starlink, things became more complicated in that department. Anyway, I'm going to watch the only Janet Evanovich book that was made into a movie! I get to see who plays Morelli and Ranger.....Katherine Heigl will be fun as Stephanie Plum.

Delicious!

It was a good day. M called before supper and wished Bill a happy birthday and needed nothing else. That was nice! Ha ha. Yvonne and Marilynne called after supper too. We reached 22C/72F today which is pretty decent.

This picture was posted at his
50th & 60th parties
so if he was 'over the hill' then,
what is he now?
💓
Good night!

Thank you for your pop in!

An Enjoyable Day

The Ridge

On Monday, Sept. 29th we are approaching the bottom of the hill called September. Just a few more steps, unbelievable. Bill woke me at 6:30, as he was preparing to leave, and asked 'do you clean this morning?'

Good morning!
Our trees are not very pretty
along Baptist Church Road this fall.

Normally, I would rush a bit to be there by 7:15 but lately, the wind down has me just getting into the Mat when I get there. 😊 Bill had work, finishing the house painting in Kincardine so he was off within minutes of waking me. I arrived in town at 7:30.

Moooo!
I'm sure they had something on their
mind, but I waited and got nothing
more than that.
Moooo!

One customer came in today, a regular. It's nice to know that people are aware I go south for the winter. I know they miss me when I'm gone and that is a good feeling too. I've heard nothing negative but I do avoid talking much about 'things', especially with those I know to be the nay-sayers, about everything.

Though a dirty window
and a blurry shot, I still
like the sun burst.

I was home to Gibbs before 9 and felt good just relaxing for the remainder of the day. I typed up the will for M and when he needs to go to town, I will take it over for him to make changes and fill in the blanks. I have it saved on my laptop so I can do what he needs done before signing.

With a couple of garden metal pieces
from Saturday's yard sale, I was able
to create my earring tree.
With some garden clips, I'm quite
pleased!

Then, I went to the Bunky. I know it is likely all for naught, but I began bagging individual things and counting and hanging others in a mock 'trial'. Bill has added bases for my 2 wooden stands, bless his heart, so I can feature my hanging pieces on those. It's good practice for spring if nothing else.

I found this basket FREE at
someone's laneway so repurposed
it quite nicely, I think.

I started another fire in our pit and managed to burn just about all of the wood from the small garden trailer. Unfortunately, they don't make fire pits like they used to and the tray has burnt through. Crap! Maybe we can get another piece of metal for the bottom, I have no plans to buy new.

For a while, I had a nice roaring
fire but when it died out, so did
the bottom pan.
Except for the few pieces on the ground,
I did empty the trailer. 😀

Dragonfly delivery brought our next sets of lights for the Suite and a new sewer hose that Bill ordered. I think I sliced the current one with the whipper snipper one day a while back. Woops! Bill says he may have done it, but it needed to be replaced for the winter.

The pond looks nice here.

I made another greeting card, tweaked a couple more that needed 'something' and decided another pair or two or three of earrings would be good. Seasonal ones. 😊😉 Bill was home before 4 and we had fish and chips for supper. The fries were delicious!

Supper was good.
Yum.

After cleanup and his lunch, he went to the Hangar. I can hear Dot next door cutting their lawn. Good thing her mower has a light as at 7:30 it's pretty dark! Don't fall in the pond, Dottie! 😍 This was a great day. We reached 25C/77F today under clear skies so we are benefitting from our solar.

The sun sure sets in a different
part of the west sky now.

Gibbs and I walked earlier for the mail, forgetting that they posties are on strike again. LOL I wonder how long they will be out this time. Maybe no Christmas cards again! Have a great night!

Still unscathed, Goat gets a sneak
preview of Gibbs' Daddy leave for the
Hangar.
I can hear the conversation now,
"That is where Daddy goes every night,
and I don't see him until bedtime".
💘
This little guy melts my heart.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping in.

An Easy going Sunday

 The Ridge

On Sunday, Sept. 28th It felt good to sleep in. Well, not exactly 'sleep in', as we were up by 7 but it felt nice to not have to get up at any given time. Gibbs slept in until 6 and came back to rest with me while Bill stayed up.

Good morning!
A display of love for Goat.
All you can see is his blue hoof.

Last night when I went up to bed at 9:30, my leg was really uncomfortable. It took some painful twists and turns to find a good position so I could drop off. Mike had informed Bill he was coming out for the night, after visiting Donna and Gerry at the Acreage.

I knew when he arrived because Gibbs let me know that Bill had a visitor at the Hangar. 😂 This morning, I had my tea and Bill pulled out with his cargo trailer, headed for the field. The days for flying are numbered, not only because of weather but because of time.

Mike had somewhere to be today so left early also and Gibbs and I went to the Bunky/outside around 10. I had a plan today to tidy up and 'pretend' I had a 'gig' (can I call it that?). I wanted to see how the best way would be to pack and carry to an event.

Gibbs found a shady spot in
his bed under the Suite

I came across a few cards that I wanted to tweak and I wanted to put a couple of my finished pictures into the new shadow boxes I bought the other day. They each required some tweaking too and then I found baggies suitable for each piece.

Bill got home from flying and went off to pick up a couple of items that he won at the 6 & 6 auction. He was very careful about what he bid on and we ended up with a kitchen tap for the Suite. Now he has another job before we leave!

This card was co-created.
Jess made it originally but I added the
camel blanket and harness.
Hope she doesn't mind!

After lunch, I went to the Bunky again and quilled until almost 2. There was an Open House at a well-hidden home down the highway and although not in the market, I was nosy (ahem, curious) enough to put myself out there and check it out.

The laneway goes back into
a grove of evergreen trees
so I'm happy to see the log home for the first time.

After 400+ square footage, I don't know
what we'd ever do with over 2200!

I'm glad I did! It's gorgeous! Now, to just win the $1,000,000. 😂 Anyway, I loved that it was open viewing with the realtor not leaving her spot at the kitchen table while we, myself and about 5 other 'snoopers', walked through at our own pace.

Other than trimming some overhanging
trees, the property is lovely!

On the way home, I stopped at the Acreage to pick up some yogourt that Donna bought for me. I had a nice visit with her for about 30 minutes before returning to my boys. Time for a tea! More crafting ensued, until supper time.

I never have to wonder if this
little guy loves his mama.
💖

Bill grilled our steak and I fried some potatoes for him. Mike had left a salad in his fridge so we split that. It was delicious, as was the steak, grilled to perfection. Bill had a cinnamon roll and I had a pecan tart for dessert. Oh dear, the weight losses will have to wait!

I decided to make a sign
for my booth/table
and like how it turned out.

We cleaned up the few dishes, Bill made his lunch and we watched a movie together.  Gibbs slept with Goat on my chair, it's so cute to watch him with a new toy. It was a great day. I enjoyed the slow pace for a change, no commitments.

The steak and salad were tasty.

We reached 23C/73F with clear blue skies all day. Seems like the nice weather is here for a while longer. Yay!

I buy them, we eat them.
Duh!
It was so good though!
Good night!

Thank you for the visit today.

Cleaning, Laundry, Market and a Ball Game

 The Ridge

On Saturday, Sept. 27th it was a 'get up and go' morning for both of us. I know I didn't rush but was up around 6:30, sorting laundry when Bill joined me upstairs. It was almost 7:30 when I arrived at the Mat with our basket of clothes.

Good morning!

There was no one there when I arrived but a couple of customers came near the end of my cleaning. Shelley, the lady who lives in her van, was one and we caught up on each other's news.

I stopped at the bank and did some ATM business there before heading home. Bill had left for the field and Gibbs went out for guard duty with me while I hung the clothes. 🐕 After my tea was done, I hopped in the shower and trimmed an inch off my hair. It seems to be growing fast this summer.

I found Trudy at the end of the row,
her smiling little face was happy to see me.

Leaving Gibbs in charge of the Suite, I drove 20 minutes to a market/artisan show in Mount Forest. My friend, Trudy, had a booth outside and I wanted to see her setup. We chatted a bit and I walked inside the building to see other vendors.

Such a great set up with doggy treats
Gibbs loves them so I'm stocking up.

One mennonite booth had homemade (of course) cinnamon buns and an orange chocolate chip zucchini loaf that had to come home with me. Oh my. I love Trudy's crochet friends so walked away with a sweet one for a special new grandbaby. Plus, more homemade treats for our own special baby. 💕

The last thing we need but oh
so good and I'm supporting the locals!

In the meantime, I had emailed Nella that I would help out for an afternoon slot of volunteering at the food booth for the ball tourney. Bill was working the bbq from 3 to 6 so I took the same time to work with Terri.

At a yard sale in Durham, there
was a couple of boxes from pre-washed
dog toys........$1 ea. So hard to decide
so Gibbs gets Goat and for now, Patsy gets
the 3' long snake. I couldn't resist!

We had lunch together and after his snooze we drove to the grand opening of the new Ambulance/Paramedic site. It is a very nice building and after the 'ribbon cutting ceremony', we walked through and left.

The new site is amazing with just
a few things to finish up.

We were in our yellow Lion's tees so drove to the Community City where a memorial ball tournament was held. We took our respective positions and with instruction from the former president, I managed to sell food and pop tickets without screwing anything up. 😂

Brief speeches from our
Mayor Kevin Eccles,
the Warden of West Grey and
Kevin Ballard, District Chief.

Two and a half hours later, we were on our way home. I know our neighbour, Gord, and his son, Kyle, were playing but I don't know how they made out today. I do know that Trudy had her best sale day yet at her market booth so a positive day.

Look at all that yellow in
attendance!
Lions are great!

We'd eaten free at the tourney so didn't need supper. I fed Gibbs and we settled in for the night. Gibbs got a new toy today (and so did Mom) from a yard sale, so he is quite happy with Goat. We'll see how long he stays in one piece. 💗

Because they'd be too shy if I
asked them to turn around,
a took a picture from their 'better"? side.
Our neighbours, Gord & Kyle.

This was a wonderful day. We reached a lovely 25C/76F with both some clouds and sunshine throughout the day. By 6 pm, the clouds were gone.

Bill got a picture of me in the booth
and even brought me a hot dog from
the grill! 💕

I stepped out of my comfort zone today with working a food booth and I may have some 'kind of' positive news about a vendor table for the harvest sale. We'll wait and see!

Alexander is introducing:
Quinn Violet Marie
Welcome to the world, precious one.
Good night!

Thank you for popping in.

Another Great Day! Helping out a Bit, News

The Ridge

On Friday, TGIF, Sept. 26th Bill was up and getting ready for work. He has done that every day thishe's  week and every day so far, there has been no work due to the weather. It may not be raining in the morning but when you are painting a house, it has to be completely dry.

Good morning!

So, no word to the contrary, he left under cloudy ('iffy') skies. When I didn't hear by 8:30, I figured he was there for the long haul today. He'll be happy with at least one day of work. He has completed a LOT at home here though so not complaining.

I can't believe the number of bananas
that are in this bag.
On the sales shelf in produce at Walmart.
At .75/lb, I picked up 3.5 lbs for $1.09
and they are all good!

I felt energetic this morning but had a commitment at 11 so just went to the Bunky and did a bit more quilling on my latest hanging. At 11, I drove to M's to meet with his social worker and another friend, to witness his signing of a Power of Attorney and will.

The blessing here is that it wasn't full when
the mug slipped in my hand to the counter.
The sad thing is, it's my favourite mug.
Bill will glue it for me with his 'power' glue
and hope that works.

It wasn't all that easy, the social worker had us baffled but I will type out the will at home and get things taken care of. He can't afford a lawyer so having something written up and signed is a step forward at least.

For lunch, leftover spaghetti
and a biscuit.

Back home before noon, I changed into work clothes and then had lunch. Leftover keto (fake) noodles and sauce with fried cut up chicken hearts. I need a meat with my spaghetti. It was very good and filled the gap in my tummy.

Gibbs and I raked up the twigs and
branches that got missed down the lane.

We went out with the leaf rake and walked down the lane, raking the mess up along and down the middle of the laneway. Little bits of twigs, leaves, branches are all now piled to one side. I'm hoping we can pick it up with the truck and trailer next time.

Gibbs found where Bill had cut a path
through to the pond for our water pump.
Look at him run back, he was having a zoomie
moment.

It's a pleasant day for outside work but when I finished, I was feeling pretty grubby. Gibbs found his Daddy's pathway to the pond (for the pump connection) and came out looking like a little puddle jumper. LOL.

What a little tramp!
Ha ha, so innocent, right?

The sweater came off as it was muddy and covered in leaves and dirt from rolling around. That helps, you know? His sore under his arm/leg looks better but I put coconut oil on it and put his thunder coat on for the time being. He loves his jackets for some reason.

This area, closer to the corral,
has never been cleared like this.
I can walk out on it now that the
pond is drying up.

Bill messaged at 2:30 that he was on his way home. Okay, so not a full day but close to it! They must be done painting unless it needs a second coat. The sky has cleared out and blue sky is allowing some periods of sunshine. We are expecting a warm up for a few days. 👍

So, I finished the piece I was working on.
I love how it turned out!

For the remainder of the day, I went out to do some more quilling. I'm liking this new piece and have an idea already for my next one. Hmmm, sometimes I am scrambling for ideas and other times, I can't keep up with them! 😀

Bill slipped into the house after
cutting grass and Gibbs was wondering
where he disappeared to.

When Bill got home, he hooked up the dump trailer and we went down and cleaned up what I had raked. It doesn't fill the trailer so we can add to it this week. With that done, I went to do some quilling and Bill hopped on the mower to cut leaves down the lane and the front field.

After his snooze, we got cleaned up and hopped on Jazz for Catch the Ace. We do enjoy our Friday evening hour with the Lions. Tonight we sat with Mayor Kevin and his wife, Joanne. Fun couple. No win for us but Dollar Store Dave had the winning weekly ticket. Nice!

It was a nice night for a ride.
Plus, I had dressed for it with my
hoody under my jacket.
Perfect!
There is that red tree, many of the leaves
have dropped so they have red grass now.

At home we had toasted blct sandwiches. Delicious and we finished the apple crisp off for dessert. This was a great day, reaching a pleasant 23C/74F. Warm days like that but cooler evenings for the next 4 days before it drops off again.

Supper was simple,
as is usual for our Friday nights.

Last but certainly not least. Bill and I have become grandparents again. This time to Krystal and Matt's new baby girl. Yesterday afternoon, 7 lb. 7 oz. Quinn Violet Marie was born, a wee sister to 2 year old Alexander. I would have loved to see his reaction!

Congratulations, a million dollar family. 💖 No picture to share yet.

I've come across a folder in my photos with
a bunch of these. I may as well use them and
delete them over time.
I did have to laugh at this one.
(no reason!)

Good night!

Thank you for your visit.
