The Ridge
On Friday, Sept. 5th Bill didn't have to go to work on the job today. Mixed feelings about that but the good news is that he is on another weeks' vacation. Yay! Who says you don't get holidays when you're retired. 😂

Good morning!
I, however, had a job to report to. I was up at 6:30 with my boys and I took my tea and headed into town. It seemed like I'd just left because the Mat was really clean. That's odd. The garbage and recycle bin was recently emptied and floors and machines in good condition. Hmmm.😕

You know how I am with clouds, so these pictures begged to be taken.
I did a walk around and wondered if Ron thought I was off this Thursday. I figured I would just head out when Trudy walked in with her laundry. It is never a dull moment when we get together, even though she is busy with the wash loads and I'm cleaning. 😃

While waiting for M, I saw this vehicle beside me. Cute but they always seem to have a stuck up 'what are you looking at' face.
We talked crafts, markets and the upcoming Harvest show in Durham. With her encouragement, I may be registering for a table. 🤔 I have to determine if I have enough items to show and possibly sell first. I'll decide in a few days, it isn't until Oct. 4th.

While Bill was trimming, he noticed this large nest. Very creative, very dangerous. When it is cooler, he spray bomb it. Very carefully.
I did clean the big dryers today instead of Sunday so marked down 30 minutes on the job before heading home. It is a coolish morning and, of course, some wind and rain added to the temperature of 12C/50F.

The winds were really whipping around so I took my screen tent down.
At 10, I picked M up for his town run and because he is still no better, and actually worse, I went in for his beer and his prescriptions this morning. I offered to get his groceries but because he has a cart to lean on, he was able to shop for himself.

Close to the ground, the Hibiscus was unphased by the wind.
When I brought him home, I gave him my usual 'lecture' which was along the line of 'get you a** in the hospital and get looked after'. He promised he would.......again. We'll see. He was grateful for the tongue lashing (haha) and hobbled inside.

We filled the dump trailer and although it was a lot, there is a lot more cutting to do.
Back home, Bill had cut a lot of trees and branches with his chain saw down the lane so after lunch, we threw them into the dump trailer for a drop off tomorrow at the Bentinck dump just outside of Durham. Then we/he can load it up again.

I don't know if my peppers are ever going to be big enough to eat. Still some new tomatoes growing which is nice. I thought the plant was done.
I finished my book and stayed out of the Bunky today for a change. 😊 When outside, in the wind, I took a bag down with Gibbs and gathered some apples from the tree at the road. So many have fallen and are damaged but I got a bag full. (just one not three).

While Bill and I loaded the truck, this playful guy sat inside the cab and supervised. We joked that he likely got paid more too!

We didn't get a lot of rain but enough to dampen the windows. Notice the blue sky at the same time?
The winds had died a bit but they never reached the speed of 90 km/60 mph as forecasted. Not here anyway and that's okay by us!

I was cleaning up Google photos and saw this old one from way back. Can you find me?
We reached 18C/66F but felt cooler with the wind. Not much sunshine reached our neck of the woods though so that didn't help.

Supper was a change of pace for us. Yummy. Good night!
It was still a good day for outside work as we were quite warm in t-shirts. Quick update: M texted that they were keeping him in the hospital for a few days to drain fluids in his lungs and legs. He listened to me! Thank goodness!
Thank you for stopping around.

Front and center blue top sunglasses, and hat.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, can't fool you!
DeleteYup blue top. YIKES that's a big wasp nest!! Oh how I hate those things!!
ReplyDeletePicked me out...................you can't even see my red hair!
DeleteI hate these wasp nests too
I hadn't found you, but I agree with the other commenters. You were incognito in a hat and sunglasses! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that M went to the hospital. I was thinking that there would come a point where he'd have no choice.
Even without the hat, I wonder if you would recognize me. Red hair that year! I had to experiment.
DeleteYes, I'm so glad he finally listened. It was either that or stop walking............moving..........living. Too sad, I hope he gets relief and results.
Glad M listened. Never seen a hornets nest.
ReplyDeleteYep I guessed it too - can’t miss that big smile!
