A Monday Together and Autumn Equinox

The Ridge

On Monday, September 22nd we were up by 7 with no place to go. It was raining so that put a damper (haha) on Bill's work day. Can't paint a house in the rain!

Good morning!

I was moving slowly this morning but not so for Bill! He removed 5 of our pot lights over the dining table and replaced them with some amazingly bright ones from Amazon.  Happy wife, happy life.

Goodbye dim, 10 yr. old pot lights.

I've been complaining about how dull our leds have been over the last couple (or more) months. To shut me up, perhaps, he ordered some that would work and man, oh, man! Brilliant, literally!

Can you see the difference?
Only one replaced but wow!

He's my hero.  Again. πŸ₯° Next, he dumped tanks, drove to the Acreage for water, drove to Durham to fill a propane tank and then around 3:30 went down to burn the old crappy fence boards behind the Hangar. After the rain, well, they were a bit wet but he had some success.

Two down, three to go!
(yes, I'm super excited!)

Gibbs and I went back and forth and I discovered a couple of sore spots on his little body. I put coconut oil on them and a sleeved sweater on him. I'm not a doctor but I wrapped a tender looking spot on his tail with some tensor bandage. I'll be calling the vet tomorrow.

Resting on the quilling table.
Why not, eh?
I wasn't comfortable enough today
so didn't stay out here for long.

Other than scratching a lot, he seems in good Gibbs' humour. I made an apple crisp for dessert tonight and we're having pork ribs with a potatoes/vegetable for supper. It's the Sunday night meal that we didn't have last night. πŸ˜„

Right now, it is just smoldering but
soon caught and burnt down.

We like the new look
too without glass covers.

The new ones are incredibly
bright. Happy wife!😍

Thank you everyone for the lovely comments on my quilling. I truly am enjoying it and even without getting a table, I will stay positive and continue to make things for the spring shows. I'll get on the ball sooner. Your encouragement is uplifting.

Delicious! 75% keto
so that's okay.
These are from last fall's apples.

Supper was good and we cleaned things up toute suite! After supper, we asked Dot and Gord to pop over so we could run an idea by them......a change we plan to make in the Suite. Details to follow.........one day!

You may not be able to tell
BUT so much brightness!
Bill just smiles at my exuberance.
It's an early birthday present!

Bill had a day off but really - um, didn't. He didn't seem to mind and it doesn't sound like he'll be back on the job tomorrow. Not sure why.

Fall off the bone tender ribs
and potatoes done in Madame IP too.

It reached a warm 20C/69F but it felt warmer with the humidity. Quite a nice day, really. I didn't take many pictures so I apologize for the narrative.

We had dessert tonight!
I added cream to mine.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by! (the apple crisp was yummy!) Happy Autumn!

  1. Maybe it's the plastic covers making them dull. Bill is THE MAN!! Might need a dimmer switch now! Hope Gibbs feels better - smells good though with the coconut oil :) Guess I'll be going out for apple crisp tomorrow ~ my favorite!! Yours looks VERY good! :)

    1. Bill IS the man! I wondered about the covers (glass) but no, it's the lights themselves. perhaps were meant to be 'soft warm' but after 10 years have become quite dull.
Gibbs is much better, he heard us talking about the vet so we're holding off on the phone call for another day or two.

    1. I have to bright light for some reason. Holding off on the vet for another day or two, he has stopped itching and scratching today. Hasn't even touched his tail since I put the sweater on him. πŸ€”

  3. Darn blogger lost my comment...
Anyway, I agree the new lighting looks so good. For me, it's an age thing - I need bright lights!
The apple crisp looks delicious. I may have to make some, but it will need to be a small dish of it as I'll be the only one eating it. :)

    1. Thank you, the light makes me happy every time I turn the switch on.
Didn't get to the vet. Things look better today so I continued just with coconut oil for now and left his sweater on. We'll monitor him, he may get to the vet's office yet.
