Busy from the Get-Go

The Ridge

On Saturday, Sept. 20th, it seems that we were on the go as soon as our feet hit the floor. I had a hard time getting to sleep last night, so even though I went upstairs at 9:30, I still saw 11:30 and midnight. The problem was that I was cold.

Good morning!
First on the agenda:
Jazz goes into the shop
for a few days.

Bill brought me up my blanket from the couch but it still took me a while to drop off. I should've got up and put socks on as my feet felt like ice. Sure, it got cool in here but not that bad. Anyway, needless to say, it wasn't my best night's sleep because I didn't get my 8 hours! 😉

Next, we worked together to
clean up more of the lane. We want
to continue to take advantage of
the dump trailer while we have it.

We did the usual and got washed, dressed and breakfast but Bill didn't go flying. Jazz was going in to the shop to get the fuel gauge repaired, finally the part came in. Bill bundled up good in his leathers as it was windy and felt chilly at only 11C/52F.

These pictures are from two views.
You can see that we have cut back
about 6' from the lane on this side.
Second picture, is before we cut for our
second load. All that bushy stuff is almost
gone now. Yay!

I followed in Ptooties for the 16 minutes to Varney and at 9 o'clock we left Jazz with the mechanic. Bill decided on the ride home that he would not be flying since the winds were gusty first thing. When we got back home, we layered up (well, I did) and took the dump trailer down the lane.

Different roads so different
colour changes.
Look at that blue sky, no
change there from the last couple of days!

With 2 of us working at it, Bill cutting, me trimming to fit the trailer and both of us loading, it only took about an hour for the first fill up. We left Gibbs, who sits in Black Beauty during the process, at home and drove to Bentinck Landfill for dumping.

This tree is lovely!

When we returned, it was lunch time so we ate and after a half hour rest, we went right back at it. This time, our second load, Gibbs rode along with us and with windows open, he was a VERY good little boy. Only making a sound at the turns and stop signs. 🐶 He was the best!

We're not sure how to pronounce
the name 'Bentinck' but landfill is all
we care about.
All kinds of recyclables and brush but
no household garbage so no smell!

By the time we finished the 2nd trip, we were done. It was around 3:30 and Bill disconnected the trailer and put the cutting tools away. We made big strides in the appearance and I know from all that, I will sleep well tonight!

Bill backed up to this brush pile
and yah, ugly looking
.....and then..........

He went to the Hangar and I went in to try and finish the quilling project I have on the go. It's taking longer than normal which will certainly increase the price, if and when I were to sell. I'm very proud of how it is turning out. Soon, I can show and tell. 😀

...This beauty right beside it!
I was out of the truck in a flash.
somehow, a couple of happy blooms
of my favourite flower
made it into the truck.
💖

Bill even let me push the buttons!
I've never seen one in action so was
quite impressed.

For supper, Bill grilled sausages and they were delicious. I had nothing for dessert so there might be popcorn later this evening. It is Saturday night, after all. I chatted back and forth with sister, Gayle, and came up with a 'date' for us all to get together for past (hers) and upcoming birthdays.

All that work and fresh air
on the truck ride tired the Supervisor
out.

Bill went to the Hangar, Gibbs crashed on the kitchen floor and I worked on my blog. This has been a working day but a good one. We reached 20C/68F but it felt cooler with the breeze. Tomorrow, I will be on the go-go again. Stay tuned!

A plain supper but
it was very tasty and filled us.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by!

  2. oooo, my tootsies get cold at night too sometimes! But I am in FL and would love to have that beautiful weather here! Your clean up is so pretty now. And to have a nice place to put clippings! They should throw some dirt and other stuff on it and make compost! Enjoy your week!

    1. We've had some pretty nice weather in the past couple of weeks for sure. What is Florida getting? I haven't paid attention.
I'm not sure what they do at the dump, probably just let it compost into itself.

  3. It seems the older I get, the less sleep I get. That was a lot of work cleaning up the branches. Don't you wish you could sleep like our kids???

    1. Ha ha, I've always been a good sleeper so when I'm up through the night, it just frustrates me! Yes, Gibbs can sleep at the drop of a hat.........and so can Bill, during the daytime!

  4. The laneway looks great! I'm sure it will be easier for your rig (and visitors). Good on Gibbs to do such a great job of supervision. You and Bill get props too. :)
I'm like you, if my feet are cold I'm not sleeping.

    1. Thank you Maebeme. It will still grow in the spring but we have a better chance of keeping on top of it with it cut so far back. (we hope!)
