A Beauty of a Day

The Ridge

On Sunday, Sept. 14th it was truly a day of rest. Yay! It was after 6:30 when we all got up, the boys first and I followed around 7:30. I slept well enough in the condo bed, as far as comfort goes, but it is nice to crawl into your own bed. I know you can all relate to that.

Good morning!
But, boy the Jays can be loud!

Bill left for the flying field, it's a lovely morning with clear blue skies and little leaf rustling. He has not done much at all related to his hobby this past week so I was sure he would enjoy seeing his friends etc.

I picked up this cotton
table runner in Thornbury at
a yard sale.
I love it even though it is made
for a rectangle table.

I puttered around inside. First - I unpacked the last of the bags from LadyFest, then made the bed using our new grounding sheet. It was recommended by my Mat friend and after discussing it, we decided to order one. It was delivered, with a picture proof, Friday night around 8:30. Never heard a thing. 😀

I like seeing pod and happy
he didn't have to knock.

Hopefully, I can report good things about it. Then, I vacuumed and went through the books I'd bought last week. It seemed that J.E. books were everywhere! Mike left around 10:30 and Bill returned home around 12:30 after I finished my sandwich.

This little guy fell asleep on my lap.

While he and Gibbs snoozed, I went out to make a pair of earrings for Roz. The red ones I made were not quite what she had in mind but she bought a pair and was more specific with what she wanted. Bill relayed her request. I'd never done hoops before!

I still managed to finish 3 pr.
of earrings

That was fun and turned out to be fairly easy. As a matter of fact, so easy that I made a second pair to sell and a different style altogether - just because. I started making a couple of greeting cards and managed to finish one and added it to the pile.

And a greeting card.
On the right, I'm testing a couple of
my new to me purchases for displaying.
Not the best, but I'll work on it.
I have a lot of creating to do if I'm going
to have a table at the WGL Harvest!

We had bbq'd steak and baked potatoes on the grill for supper. Yum. The freezer is quite full so in an attempt to make room, we had ice cream. It didn't empty the container, darn, so I had to shuffle things around. LOL

My Dahlias are not giving up.

After Bill made his lunch, he did his thing while I worked on my blog.

Nor is the Hibiscus.
Still a few blooms yet to pop.

It was a great day, reaching a high of 25C/77F under sunny skies. We will be dropping to comfortable sleeping temps overnight but it looks like cooler days by the weekend. I hope your weekend was mau-vell-ous!

Steak & potatoes
w/ice cream.
Sunday supper.
Good night!

PS - a commenter asked about peameal bacon. (copied from online) It is a product made from lean pork loin wet-cured and then coated in cornmeal (formerly ground peas), the U.S. term is Canadian bacon. Hope that helps!

Thank you for stopping in.

    1. It will have to get a good test, we're not expecting miracles over night but I'll let you know if anything is different. I did have a very vivid dream though!

    1. No, it tastes different than regular bacon. More like a ham kind of taste.

  4. I'm not a fan of Canadian bacon, though I did know it was another name for peameal bacon. I'm not even certain I've seen it at our local grocery recently.
That's the thing with markets, one needs to have an adequate supply of products to sell. What adequate means is hard to determine, because some folks won't purchase unless you have the specific thing they have in mind. It will likely help if you are willing to take special orders and get them done quickly.
Nice to see the flowers blooming, it won't be many more weeks before they are done for the year.

    1. I'm sure peameal is an acquired taste but I love it. Not as a replacement for real bacon but on bennies for sure.
I'm still wrestling with the market thing but also waiting to hear if they have a table left. Maybe it will be answered for me!

  5. I haven't seen peameal bacon in a very long time. Lots of back bacon for sale though. We have had rain the last three days, hoping for some sunshine very soon so I can get back to processing the garden.

    God bless.

    1. Now, back bacon is something I've not had in a very long time!
I'm sure we'll get your rain soon enough. It will cool down for the weekend here.
